Samsung’s new Smart Ring may also work with other Android smartphones
Samsung’s Galaxy Ring made its debut at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10. It’s the South Korean tech conglomerate’s first-ever wearable smart ring, boasting a range of health and fitness monitoring features. While it was initially speculated that the Galaxy Ring would only be compatible with Galaxy smartphones, recent claims on social media suggest that it could also work with other Android smartphones via the Galaxy Wearable app.
Samsung Galaxy Ring Compatibility
According to a after On X (formerly Twitter) by YouTuber M. Brandon Lee (@thisistechtoday), the Samsung Galaxy Ring also works on other Android devices, disproving claims that it is only compatible with Samsung smartphones. According to a video shared by the user, the smart ring appears to be paired with a Nothing smartphone via the Galaxy Wearables app. A few apps may also need to be installed, including Samsung Health.
There are reviews that claim that the Samsung Galaxy Ring only works on Samsung devices and therefore not on other Android devices.

The video is said to show the app’s user interface (UI), which presents the smart ring’s features, including energy score, sleep, heart rate, and health settings. It also appears to have an option to view more details about the smart ring, reset it, and update its software through the app. There is also a Find my ring option is also visible, but it is unclear whether it works.
According to Samsung’s FAQ section on buying the Galaxy Ring pageThe wearable is compatible with Samsung smartphones on Android 11.0 or higher firmware. The official support The page states that the device must have 1.5GB of RAM or more to be compatible with the Galaxy Ring.
In a separate development, industry insider Avi Greengart (@greengart), via an X aftersuggested that the Galaxy Ring might also be compatible with iOS devices, although not at launch. Hence, it is speculated that it will also support iPhone models in the future.
Samsung Galaxy Ring Specifications
Samsung Galaxy Ring comes in nine sizes, ranging from 5 to 13, and comes with a sizing kit. It is equipped with a PPG (Photoplethysmography) sensor for irregular heartbeat detection. According to Samsung, the smart ring works with the Samsung Health app and includes a temperature sensor and accelerometer to give wearers insights into their well-being.
It also gets features powered by Galaxy AI – Samsung’s suite of artificial intelligence (AI) services. It can reportedly generate detailed health reports, including aspects like Energy Score and Wellness Tips. The Galaxy Ring has an IP68 rating and is certified for 10 ATM water resistance. It has a titanium grade 5 build and offers Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity. The size 5 variant of the Galaxy Ring has an 18mAh battery, while the larger size 13 has a 23.5mAh battery.
