Savvy mums rush to Tesco as school uniform is reduced to just four PENCE
PARENTS rush to Tesco after discovering school uniforms have been reduced to just 4p in the supermarket.
One savvy mum took to TikTok to share her find after being stunned at how drastic the reductions were.
“This is your cue to run to Tesco,” Sherene wrote across the top of the phone clamp.
“All school supplies 4p!”
She then panned the camera around rails and rails of gray school pants, dresses, and multi-packs of T-shirts and shirts — all of which cost just 4 cents each.
“RUN TO TESCO!!!” she captioned the TikTok.
People were quick to comment on the video, with one asking: “All Tesco?”
“She said most stores, but not all, should look for clear signs,” Sherene replied.
She also revealed she found the deals at a Tesco in Langdon Hills, Essex.
“Why can’t they earn 4p in August before spending £100?” another sighed.
“But a bargain!!!”
“I literally said the same thing,” Sherene laughed.
“Huge selection in the Burnley store,” wrote a third.
“Is this actually true? Why are they so cheap?” someone else wondered.
As Sherene admitted, she’d wondered the same thing, adding, “I hope there’s no catch!”
And others were left furious after missing out on the deals in their local Tesco stores.
“I paid full price for 2 cardigans and the Tesco in Stretford today,” one sighed.
“Girl, I just came from tescoooo!” said another.
EXTRA HELP WITH SCHOOL UNIFORM COSTS
IF you can’t get targeted help from your local council, there may be other options available to you.
In some areas you can speak directly to your school, who may be able to offer you clothing.
Or maybe you can buy cheap clothes from discount stores or charity shops.
Some charities also provide assistance to families in need.
But keep in mind that charities often have a limited amount of money to give and typically have specific criteria that must be met to receive a grant.
Charity Turn2Us has a free grant search on its website to help you find out what help is available to you.
In the meantime, you can always try to contact your nearest Citizens Advice Office.
If you don’t know where the nearest Citizens’ Advice branch is, you can find out at www.citizensadvice.org.uk/about-us/contact-us/nearby/.
If you are not eligible for a school uniform grant, you may be able to get help through the Household Support Fund.
“I wish I saw your message in the morning lol”
“Why do I always miss these things?!” a third wrote.
“Why don’t they just donate them to schools instead of selling them for 4 cents?” said someone else.
While Sherene replied: “Literally!
“If I never had the kids with me, I would have bought the lot and donated it to people who needed them.”
Many Tesco stores even have school uniform banks, where people can buy uniforms and donate them to local schools and students in need.
There are also clothes banks in many Tesco car parks, which were rolled out in December 2003 and have since generated 387,216kg of textiles.
