Say goodbye to red, here’s the season’s must-have shade
WHILE we are still enjoying summer, thanks to the current heat wave, September is already upon us.
And the new season also means new clothes and new trends.
And when it comes to color, there’s one shade that’s dominating the fall/winter catwalks.
Maroon has been seen on the catwalks of major fashion designers such as Tom Ford, Gucci, Valentino and Versace, to name a few.
Ideal for mixing and matching with your current wardrobe, don’t think this deep shade is only for the colder months.
It’s also great to wear this time of year and you can continue to wear it for the rest of 2024 and beyond.
Here the Fabulous Fashion Team shows you how they’ll wear this trendy color.

The deep, rich color of chestnut brown makes you look instantly polished and expensive.
I love this bag from Dune London. It looks really designer with its woven leather, a nod to Bottega Veneta and Dragon Diffusion.
And it looks amazing paired with these sleek slingbacks, which, despite the varying shades of chestnut brown, are as shiny as a fresh manicure.
Paired with these Stradivarius linen trousers, because it’s still summer (and with a free belt, thanks Stradivarius!) and the classic Cos T-shirt, it’s a look of minimal effort and maximum output.
And when it gets a bit colder, a dark red knitted jacket/cardigan completes the outfit.

I love how maroon can brighten up an outfit, whether you’re dressing up for a special occasion or going for a more casual look.
One of the easiest ways to introduce a color you might not normally wear is to start with the basics.
I absolutely love the poplin skirts that are in fashion all summer long.
They are the must-have of the moment, but they are also timeless enough to remain stylish for years to come.
That’s why I combined a skirt with this chestnut brown T-shirt, which I can also wear with jeans.
On colder days, throw on a denim jacket and add these maroon Mary Janes to complete the outfit.

Burgundy, maroon, claret, crimson – there are countless words to describe this season’s IT colour, but there’s one thing this expensive-looking hue brings: drama!
After the summer love affair with a touch of bright red, now get started with the 50 sexy shades of burgundy for fall/winter!
I like to play with texture when adding a new color to my wardrobe.
Patent accessories give this tough wool tailor-made look an extra dimension and at the same time make it look much more expensive than it is.
I’m particularly obsessed with this quilted clutch from Cos. It looks designer, but doesn’t scream “look at me.”

Who says a deep color like chestnut brown can’t be worn in summer?
This color is available now and is suitable for all seasons.
Wide leg trousers are classic and never go out of style. I paired them with a sheer, light blouse, but you can also pair them with a t-shirt for a more relaxed look.
Chestnut accessories also look incredibly expensive. Can you believe this Mango bag is only £19.99?
I love the combination of deep hues with leopard print, so I added New Look ballerina flats and finished it off with some gold jewellery for a stylish, sophisticated look.
The most popular trends for spring/summer 2024
Clemmie Fieldsend, Fashion Editor at Fabulous, shares the biggest trends on the streets and catwalks this spring/summer.
SHORTS
I know, shorts for summer. Groundbreaking. But you’ll be seeing them everywhere this year, from micro hot pants to long, denim Bermuda styles to tailored and everything in between. They’re a must-have for any occasion.
WHITE
White is usually synonymous with a summer holiday, but whether you’re in the UK or abroad, you’ll see head-to-toe white looks everywhere you go.
The shopping street is already a, uh, white car wash with a trend that also includes shoes and accessories.
HIGH GLOSS
Whether it’s metallics or sequins, in 2024, glitter isn’t just for Christmas.
You can count on sparkling looks at festivals, weddings or even a barbecue in your neighbour’s garden, combined with bright colours or simple white.
POCKET TROUSERS
Wide and loose jeans have been a staple in our wardrobes since fall and winter, but now that the warmer months are upon us, expect wide-leg pants to make an appearance.
From crisp cotton to lightweight linen, soft trousers belong in your wardrobe.
PUMPS
Ballerinas and Mary Janes have been popular again for a while now, but for summer they’re less ballerinas and more beach-ready.
Woven models and mesh textures are all the rage on the catwalk and in the high street, just think of the jelly shoe from 2024.
GO GIRLISH
All things romantic and girly are in for spring with sheer fabrics, pastel shades of blue, yellow and pink taking over the catwalk. Decorated with bows, lace or flowers, most looks should have a hyper ‘girly’ element.
