School holidays in summer are a waste of time, money and effort, says Rosie Ramsey

Summer vacation is almost over and there’s one person who can’t wait for her kids to go back to school: Rosie Ramsey.

While the family have had a ‘lovely break’ this holiday and enjoyed the time they spent together both here in the UK and abroad, the 38-year-old mum from Wales is glad the six long weeks are almost over.

Rosie revealed in a conversation with her husband Chris Ramsey on their hit podcast Sh**ged Married Annoyed that their two sons, Robin and Rafe, are busy.

“They’ve had countless days. They’ve done so much — they’ve seen their friends, they’ve had a whirlwind of a time,” the podcaster said in the recent episode on Spotify.

Besides the endless adventures that the Edinburgh Fringe festival was part of, there are also a few memories that the little ones particularly cherish.

When asked what Robin enjoyed most this summer, he replied: ”My favorite activities were probably watching TV, going to bed, but also having lunch, breakfast, dinner, drinking tea and supper.

“Yes, those were my favorite parts,” the young man added.

For his brother Rafe, the highlights were much the same. He told the mother and father in a cute tone: “Watching TV, drinking tea and eating, and dinner and pizza.”

The parents, who took the brothers to Harrogate for a few days, said: ”Our children mainly enjoyed lazing around, watching TV, eating and sleeping.”

Chris joined in the conversation and said that if this conversation were taken out of context, listeners might assume the children were talking about the deplorable conditions in the prison.

When the couple, who met as teenagers, heard how little the two boys could remember and tell about their experiences in the summer of 2024, they wondered whether there was any point in organizing all those activities.

Rosie said: “I swear to God, I just don’t think there’s any point.

”Well done… What a waste – of time, money, effort.

“When all they really wanted to do was stay home, watch TV and go to bed,” the mother groaned as her husband stepped in. He said these were the things they felt “guilty” about as parents.

How long has she been married to Chris Ramsey and how did they meet?

Rosie and Chris married in 2014, after meeting as teenagers.

At that time, Rosie was a singer in a girl group, while Chris started his career as a stand-up comedian.

Rosie told Living North: “Chris and I have known each other since we were 14 years old.

“We went to different schools, played on the same street and then went to the same university.

“So we’ve always known each other. Then we met on a night out and it went from there, the rest is history.”

During an interview with The Sun in 2023, the loved-up couple gave an insight into their married life – and how they keep the romantic spark alive.

Rosie revealed the secret and laughed: “I just got drunk,” while Chris agreed: “I couldn’t have said it better myself.”
