School shooting leaves three dead, police arrive in Bosnia

A gunman has killed three staff members in a shooting with an automatic weapon at a school in Bosnia, local media reported.

Three employees of a secondary school in the western town of Sanski Most were killed when a man who also worked at the school opened fire around 10:15 a.m., according to regional police.

A fourth person, believed to be the attacker, was seriously injured. Bosnian media reported that he attempted suicide after the attack.

The injured person was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he is said to be in serious condition.

The shooter is believed to have been a janitor at the school, Bosnian media According to police, the victims have been identified as the school’s principal, secretary and a female teacher.

According to regional television station N1, the attacker had an argument with school management and opened fire on staff before trying to commit suicide.

A number of staff have been gathered at the location and are in ‘shock’ after reportedly witnessing the bloody attack.

Police and emergency services are on site and an investigation is underway

Bosnian schools are closed for the summer holidays, so no lessons were being held at the time of the shooting.

Sanski Most is located approximately 300 kilometers northwest of the Bosnian capital Sarajevo.
