Senator Chuck Schumer from New York, the Democratic minority leader, intends to submit all political arrangements of the Ministry of Justice on Tuesday pending the confirmation of the Senate until he receives more information about President Trump plans to accept a luxury plane from Qatar.
The expected announcement of Mr Schumer of his blockade of the nominees of the administration comes after he and other Senate Democrats Mr. Trump attacked on Monday for his decision to accept the Jet, which is estimated to be no less than $ 500 million and would serve as an air force.
“This is not only naked corruption,” Mr Schumer intends to say, according to comments prepared for a speech from the Senate. “It is also a serious threat of national security.”
In the speech of Mr Schumer, he is expected to call on the Registration Act of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Justice to report on all activities of Qatarese agents in the United States that the president or one of the companies of his family can benefit. The minority leader also plans to demand information from the administration about the Jet himself, such as whether it is accompanied by security improvements or whether they must be provided by the United States. And he wants information about what the jet means for future presidential planes that the government has already agreed to buy Boeing.
One of Mr Schumer’s requests is that the attorney -general Pam Bondi, who are apparently signed about the gift, witnesses of the congress about why receiving such an extravagant item from a foreign entity would not violate the constitutional prohibition on presidential gifts unless approved by other Ethisches allowed.
“Until the American people learn the truth about this deal, I will do my bit to block the solid and real breathtaking politicization at the Ministry of Justice,” Mr Schumer intends to say.
According to Mr Schumer’s office, three nominees from the Ministry of Justice are waiting for floor voices, but his guard can eventually be extended to dozens of more, including nominees for American lawyer and American Marshal.
Maintaining a nominee does not mean that they cannot ultimately be confirmed, given that Republicans check the Senate. But it requires more floor time to perform the required votes to overcome the objections. Democrats are already slowwalking Trump nominees, a fact noticed on Monday by Senator John Thune van South Dakota, the Republican majority leader.
In comments on the floor, Mr Thune pointed to constant democratic objections to almost any nominated Trump and urged Democrats to cooperate and allow some of the president’s choices to be considered in batches. However, he said that the Republicans would continue to confirm the nominees of the administration, even if Democrats would not admit. That can mean late night or weekend voices or lost days to eliminate a backlog.
“If we have to do this in the hard way, we will do that,” said Mr Thune. “We’re going to get the President’s team in place.”
