A number of dogs that stayed in foster homes or the shelter received extra attention.

The puppies were given the ‘supermodel’ treatment in an effort to find them permanent homes.

Several breeds were ready for a close-up, including 12-year-old Bobby and 14-year-old Brandy.

The duo consists of Yorkshire Terriers who have a close bond and have been looking for a new home for several months.

The sweet-natured Zara, a four-year-old Staffordshire terrier who was abandoned by her previous owner after having puppies, enjoyed the lens.

The four-year-old Chihuahua Snek, who had previously been abandoned but has now been rescued by the shelter, also enjoyed the extra attention and the camera.

This is evident from research among 2,000 adults, which showed that almost half of Britons would like to have a dog or even a second furry friend.

However, 58% of respondents prefer a younger dog.

Of those surveyed, 47% would consider adopting a car instead of buying one.

And 54% of people who want a younger dog think it is easier to train a dog from a puppy.

The company has partnered with the shelter to give these dogs another chance to show their personalities, and it turns out that some things are just as good the second time around.

Paul Wareham, marketing director at the photography shop which also commissioned the research, said: “All dogs can absolutely learn new tricks, especially in a loving home.
