A huge explosion on one petrol The station in Rome wounded at least 21 people this morning, some with serious burns, and ensured that residents fled their houses.
Shocking images showed fires and a thick cloud of smoke that came from the location of the explosion – a gasoline, diesel and liquid petroleum gas (LPG) station via Dei Gordiani in the Eastern Prenestino district of the Italian capital.
The punishing explosion, which, according to Italian media, broke out this morning at 8.18 am, released the entire party.
Clips shared with social media by shocked locals showed black-made asphalt with debris on the spot, while a webcam feed managed to catch the mushroom-cloud-like explosion over the city.
Emergency services were already on site for the explosion. They were called minutes earlier in the midst of reports that a truck hit a gas pump at the gas station and caused a fire, italian press agencies reported.
Elisabetta Accardo, a spokesperson for the Roman police, explained that fire caused a small explosion that caused a devastating chain reaction.
“There were a few chain explosions after the first,” Accardo told the Italian state broadcaster Rai.
At least nine police and fire department workers were injured, five of which were taken to the hospital with considerable burns and injuries by broken glass, although no one has yet been reported.
One eyewitness told the Italian outlet La Repubblica that it seemed like a bomb had gone off.
“I ran, while the crow was flying, I was less than a hundred meters from the gas pump,” said Massimo Bartoletti.
“I saw the first explosion with the classic fire ball. Shortly thereafter came the second that Hellish was. A fiery mushroom cloud formed in the air. It shook the entire area. It looked like hell, everything flew in the air ‘.
Parts of a fuel tanker were reportedly blown hundreds of meters away from the station, the power of the explosion was.

“We are working on a tank explosion … The fire is still underway,” the fire brigade said in a statement, adding one of their officers was admitted to the hospital.
Spokesperson Luca Cari of the fire brigade later confirmed that one firefighter was injured, but ‘not seriously’. Ten teams were working on the site, he added.
A damaged ambulance caught in the explosion was seen on the scene, with his hood and front doors caroons.
The explosion caused structural damage to various nearby buildings, crushed windows and started a fire spread to a judicial building behind the gas station.
Rome’s public transport agency ATAC said it closed a nearby metro station after instructions from the police, who carried out checks in a nearby daycare center and sports center to ensure that no one was injured.
Various hospitals in Rome, including San Giovanni, Sandro Pertini and Sant’UIGENIO, were all warned about possible incoming victims of trauma.
Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni commented on social media: ‘I follow the consequences of the explosion that took place this morning at a gas station in the Prenestino district of Rome.
“I spoke with the mayor of Rome, Roberto Galtieri, and I constantly remain in contact with Bisselet Secretary Alfredo Mantovano and the competent authorities to check the evolution of the situation.”
