Shocking moment: Parents brawl at under-12 girls’ rugby match after ‘referee made wrong decision’

A wild brawl broke out between parents on the sidelines of the final of the junior girls rugby league, resulting in the police being called and the match being called off.

A brawl broke out on Saturday morning between spectators watching the under-12s match between Mt Druitt Vikings and Penrith Brothers at Erskine Park in Sydney’s west.

Seven News has obtained shocking footage showing a man running onto the pitch and then punching another spectator.

A big fight broke out, with people struggling to get to the ground. Punches were thrown and one man even got his shirt torn.

The fight reportedly started after the referee made a decision that one of the team’s fans was unhappy with.

“It’s disgusting, we’re here for the children,” witness Chad Nepia told the station.

‘We were standing on the other side of the field and saw the police arrive about half an hour later.’

New South Wales police said in a statement that they were called to the Swallow Drive sports field at about 9:45 a.m. on Saturday.

“On arrival, officers from Nepean Police Area Command were informed that two male spectators had become involved in an altercation, with one of the males leaving the premises,” the statement said.

‘A short time later, the man returned with several other accomplices and a fight broke out. However, the group left the area before police arrived.’

Unfortunately for the players, the match had to be cancelled due to the violence.
