Shop 5 hand-picked jackets on the high street this season and how to style them
FROM ‘field’ to fluffy – this season the high street has taken its coat game to the next level.
It used to be the same old cover-ups year after year, but for 2024 the new trends mean there’s a change in the usual suspects.
Coats are an investment piece and often take up a significant amount of valuable wardrobe space, so there are several factors to consider before making the all-important purchase – not least: am I getting my money’s worth?
Whether you’re looking for a bold leopard print style, a cozy option for daily dog walks, or a more formal type ideal for your morning commute, the high street has plenty of affordable choices.
To make the decision a lot easier, Fabulous fashion assistant Emily Regan has carefully picked five of the best that are worth spending your hard-earned money on.

Field jackets, also called barn jackets, are big news this season. They’re full of country and the lovechild of Western-style cowboy jackets and ranch coats.
This one from Mango is a dupe of Prada’s £3,700 coat, and looks ultra stylish layered over the everyday essentials you already have in your wardrobe.
MY FUR LADY
Boho isn’t going anywhere, but while sheer dresses may look great, you’ll be facing death if you go out in them without a solid coat.
Luckily for us, the shaggy faux fur screams boho – think Kate Hudson in the nineties film Almost Famous – and you can stay warm and chic in this beauty from Asos.
Fantastic fashion editor on fall trends
Do you want to look fantastic this season? Then listen…
Here, Fabulous’ fashion editor, Clemmie Fieldsend, says these are the top 5 trends from the hottest catwalk designers for Fall 2024.
BOHO: The boho revival is a much-needed breath of fresh air for autumn and means you can wear your sheer tops, girly dresses and big jeans with chunky boots.
But if the clothes aren’t for you, think big accessories like sloppy tote bags, big earrings and bigger bracelets.
TEXTURE: Whether it’s smooth leather, lush faux fur or soft suede, textures are everywhere this season.
They add depth to your look, making you stand out and also look more expensive.
BURGUNDY: Maroon, oxblood, berry: whatever you call it in fashion, it’s red this fall.
The deep and rich color is everywhere and works best with shades of gray, black, dark blue and from head to toe.
LADY LIKE: Matching top and cardigan sets and pencil skirts sound dated, but they go hand in hand with being ladylike.
Pair with satin cami dresses and fitted blazers for an ultra-feminine look.
LEOPARD PRINT: According to Tagwalk, 75% of the runway this season was leopard print – a vast majority.
It crept its way into last season, but it’s widespread in autumn and all over the high street, whether it’s shoes or floor-sweeping jackets, it’s a must-have trend.
