Shopper raves about glamorous Shein dress that’s £80 cheaper than designer lookalike
A SHOPPER is excited to find a sparkly dress at Shein. It looks like a knock-off of a designer alternative, but for £80 less.
Fashion designer Carolina Piazentin showed off the budget retailer’s stunning dress, which was covered in embellished detailing.
On her @carolina.piazentin account, she wrote: “SHEIN Haul – 5 days 5 dresses. Code 32769445.”
The nude dress had thin straps and fell just above her ankles.
The fitted dress is perfect for glamorous events and is ideal for the party season. It retailed for £42.
A number of viewers were quick to comment, saying they saw a resemblance to a dress sold by Oh Polly.
Their Antonella dress – which comes in four colours – and functions glittering shapes on the transparent material.
The biggest difference between the two gorgeous dresses is the price tag: the similar-looking dress from Shein is £80 cheaper.
The Oh Polly evening dress currently costs £120, but has a five-star rating from buyers.
Many people were impressed by Shein’s find. One commented: “oh wow”, and another wrote: “gorgeous.”
A fashion lover said: “Perfection.”
Meanwhile, someone added: “I don’t have the right body type for this dress but it looks absolutely gorgeous on you!”
Her video has been viewed over half a million times and has received 11,000 likes, and it seems she is a hit among social media users.
The description of the Oh Polly version reads: ‘Glittering evenings.
“Antonella is a premium design, crafted by our in-house team of ateliers. It is an effortlessly glamorous gown, made from sheer, stretchy mesh fabric and hand embellished with delicate artisan crystal hotfix.
“Complete with a soft round neckline and delicate shoulder straps.”
In addition to almond, it is also available in the colours emerald, mocha and cocoa.
It also comes in sizes 4 to 18, while the Shein alternative comes in sizes 6 to 16.
What is Shein and is it legit?
Shein is a fast fashion retailer that operates exclusively online and is based in China. It has become a popular shopping destination for many around the world.
In 2023, the company was valued at $66 billion, dwarfing popular brands Zara and H&M.
The fashion chain was founded in late 2008 by entrepreneur and marketing specialist Xu Yangtian, also known as Chris Xu.
Shein is a legitimate sales website and not a phishing scam.
However, according to reviews, you may receive a disappointing order or experience shipping issues if you order through the site.
There are many complaints about the quality, which makes sense when you look at the price tag.
