THEY delighted fans this weekend by announcing the return of the Mint Crisp bar.

But now Cadbury is being hit with pleas from devotees to return to the 2005 recipe for their iconic Dairy Milk chocolate.

The requests came after a chocoholic got involved Reddit to share comparison photos of a dairy milk bar from 2024 and from 2005.

They had kept the 2005 promotional box, which contained the bar as it was then, and packaged one in the same packaging as 100 years earlier, in 1905.

“I believe Cadburys recently did a promotion where they brought back the old designs. Looks like they did something similar in 2005,” the person wrote alongside photos of the two bars.

“I wish I had bought the 2005 modern version of the bar to compare, but I couldn’t see it in the store anymore

“I don’t feel nostalgic for the bar from 2005 as I was only 5 years old, but I really like it!!

“Did it taste better then?”

They also shared photos showing the ingredient list for both bars, with one of the differences appearing to be that “milk” is now listed as “milk**” on modern bars, with a note explaining: “The equivalent of 426 ml of fresh liquid milk in every 227 grams of milk chocolate”.

The order of ingredients is also slightly different, with “cocoa mass” coming before “cocoa butter” on the older bar, but the other way around on the newer ones.

And people were quick to respond to the comments to share their thoughts, with many agreeing that classic milk chocolate tasted better a decade ago.

“I miss old Cadbury chocolate,” one sighed.

Cadbury apologizes for ‘huge’ change to chocolate bar

“Tastes bad now and the texture is so weird and soft, as if those bad American chocolates that contain so little chocolate shouldn’t even be called chocolate in most countries.”

“Palm oil, sugary, chocolate flavored candle wax,” raged another.

“The old-school CDM was pretty good,” a third agreed.

“The new stuff is absolutely sh**e, I’ll never buy it.”

“Terrible things these days,” someone else commented.

“It was really short-sighted of Mondelez (Cadbury’s owner). To save some money on ingredients, they left a huge gap in the market for ‘decent but not fancy’ chocolate that Tony’s Chocolonely quickly filled,” said another.

The return of Cadbury’s Mint Crisp

A RARE Cadbury’s chocolate bar has returned just in time for Christmas, much to the delight of shoppers.

The confectionery giant has brought back its Dairy Milk Mint Crisp bar for shoppers to enjoy as the evenings draw in.

The bar contains Cadbury’s classic milk chocolate and is filled with crunchy mint pieces.

The Winter Mint Crisp bar is already on shelves, with Tesco charging £4.50 for a 360g bar, reduced to £4 if you have a Clubcard.

“Not that I’m complaining, Tony’s Chocolonely is much more ethical.”

However, someone else argued: “I have nothing against Tony’s, but based on people’s reviews I was expecting something great.

“But it tasted like an average chocolate bar to me.

“I also struggled with the ‘quirky’ kibble pattern and found it took away from my enjoyment of eating it.”

As another said of the ‘new’ Dairy Milk: “It’s still good, but it’s not nearly as good as it used to be and the pieces are much smaller.”

But others insisted they were still big fans of the dark chocolate bar.

“I may be in the minority here, but I actually still love the taste of Cadbury’s,” one person wrote.

“Maybe it’s a nostalgia thing or something….”

“I must be the only person on earth who still likes dairy milk,” another commented.

As a third insisted: “It tastes fine to me.”
