Shoppers burst out laughing as they compare Urban Outfitters top to a child’s cardigan
SHOPPERS were in stitches when they compared a top from Urban Outfitters to a cardigan from a popular TV series.
Balamory, which aired for young people from 2002 to 2005, is set in a fictional Scottish village.
Parents across the country will fondly remember the BBC programme with its multi-coloured houses and iconic theme song.
The series, filmed in Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, starred Chewin’ the Fat star Julie Wilson Nimmo as schoolteacher Miss Hoolie.
She was often seen in her indispensable striped green cardigan.
Amused shoppers flocked to social media after discovering a top that looked very similar to Miss Hoolie’s.
The BDG Denver Stripe Polo Cardigan from Urban Outfitters features a green striped design.
The ‘preppy knit’ has a button closure, long sleeves, a short hem and a spread collar.
It is available in green, blue and yellow colours.
One fashionista posted a photo of the top next to a photo of Miss Hoolie and wrote on X: “Urban Outfitters is giving away Balamory.”
Buyers responded en masse to the funny comparison.
One of them wrote: “I hear the core of Balamory is for the winter.”
Another said: “Yeaaaah Miss Hoolie.”
A third added: “Miss Hoolie core!”
The stars of Balamory previously broke their silence about the show’s return.
Julie Wilson Nimmo appeared on This Morning alongside her co-star Andrew Agnew, who played PC Plum, to wax lyrical about the series’ success.
She said: “There was no one on our show who went over and thought, look, we’ve arrived on this show. We were one of the first shows on the Cbeebies channel, which didn’t exist at the time.
“We loved the script and we were so excited. Our producer and director Brian Jamieson, it was his baby.
“He and Helen Docherty came up with this idea and we all loved it.”
Andrew added: “There is no [any plans for a return] but it would be nice.”
