Shoppers divided over Primark’s latest autumn items that give a ‘school uniform’ feel
FASHIONISTAS are divided over Primark’s latest autumn collection.
The fast fashion brand has started to play into the warm season with dark hues and weather-appropriate clothing, such as cardigans.
But the latest look – a combination of a cardigan and skirt – has left some buyers surprised.
The bundle includes the Co-ord Checked Rara Mini Skirt £10 and the Cropped Grey Cardigan with Knot Detail £13.
Primark’s social media team shared a clip on Instagram showing them putting together the outfit.
They paired it with £10 Round Toe Mary Jane Flats and £7 Flap Closure Shoulder Bag.

The team called the outfit “a fresh take on campus chic.”
But Instagram users were convinced it had a more youthful than university vibe.
“I thought these were children’s clothes until you put down the bag and shoes,” someone laughed.
“It’s a school uniform,” joked another.
A third shopper wondered if the outfit “screamed Britney Spears” in her music video for …Baby One More Time.
The pop icon wore a flowy midi skirt and a gray cardigan for the video.
And while Primark’s skirt has more of a pattern, it’s clear where the customer is going.
A caption accompanying the outfit reads: “Thanks to the mini length and playful layering, you can now tick off your need for a rare winter skirt.
“This skirt has an airy layered design and a playful mini length. The checks in muted red and burgundy create a preppy, patterned look.
“It’s perfect for channeling the dark academic aesthetic – pair it with the matching checked cropped shirt for a match made in fashion heaven.”
One customer praised the skirt as “beautiful” and wrote, “I can’t wait to buy that skirt.”
Fashion fans were in high spirits earlier this month when they discovered that Primark had already stocked its collection with comfy sweaters in preparation for fall.
The best Primark buys for fall 2024
Fall has arrived and it’s time to stock up on our cozy wardrobe.
Here, Fabulous fashion editor Clemmie Fieldsend reveals her top 5 Primark buys this autumn.
I know what you’re thinking: ‘£60 for Primark?’ Yes, it’s more expensive than we’re used to from Primark, but it’s worth every penny.
This one is from their Edit range, which is more expensive than the rest of their collection and is built to last.
It is a wool blend that is durable and warm, and has a timeless straight silhouette that is slightly oversized and will last not only this season but also beyond.
Extra large shopper with crocodile motif£16
Big bags are back… Finally, in a big way.
This bag exudes luxury with its croc effect and dark orange colour. Plus it’s ideal for carrying your laptop, lunch, change of shoes, bag – basically everything you need for the day. And all for £16.
Field jackets are very popular this season with celebrities and catwalk models. Designer brands like Barbour, Burberry and Bottega wear the utilitarian look.
They are great to wear over jeans or as a contrast to a floral or flowy dress. They are also the perfect in-between jacket.
Square Neck Leopard Print Midi Dress£18,
You’ve probably seen, heard and read that leopard print won’t go away at all in the fall. To illustrate the trend, this dress is a must-have.
Sleeves? Check. Midi length? Check. Ultra-flattering square neck? Check. It’s got it all.
Pair it with black over-the-knee boots or your favorite sneakers during the day and go for a chic look in the evening with gold heels and accessories.
Barrel-shaped, balloon-shaped, horseshoe-shaped – whatever you call them, they are this season’s must-have trouser styles.
I tried on a pair from Primark and they fit great, are comfortable and flattering.
So if you think you don’t have anything that meets the fashion, you can trade in your favorite denim for this model and be completely up-to-date again.
