Shoppers rush to Aldi to bag ‘divine’ £13 XL candle just in time for Christmas
With Christmas just a few weeks away, the hunt is on for the perfect decorations to make your home cozy and festive.
And if you haven’t put the finishing touches on it yet, head to the nearest Aldi.
A whole range of Christmas decorations and lights, part of Aldi’s Specialbuys, landed in the supermarket’s famous center aisle earlier this month.
But it’s a £12.99 candle that’s being hailed as the perfect table centerpiece for December 25.
And some savvy shoppers love it so much that they’ve bought extras as gifts for loved ones.
The 10-wick candle is available in two scents – salted orchid and driftwood or tobacco leaf and oak – and has an average burn time of 21 hours
Aldi bosses put it on the website: “Fill your home with the fragrant note of this Purewick Rustic Wooden Centerpiece Candle.
“As the scent fills your home, this beautiful, rustic centerpiece not only smells amazing, but adds luxury to your table.”
It has since gone viral on social media, with videos racking up more than a million views.
So it’s not surprising that some frustrated shoppers have had trouble getting their hands on it.
To help shoppers in the area, one woman revealed that a crate of stock had just hit the shelves of her local store.
On the Facebook group Bargain Lovers, which has 340,000 members, Sharon said: “Instagram Aldi viral candles, Milngavie [near Glasgow] has a pallet inside.”
Other happy Christmas fans have also taken to social media to praise the show-stopping candle.
One of them shouted: “Run to Aldi for the most amazing centerpiece Christmas candle. I wish I’d stocked up now for the prize!!”
A second echoed: “Run, don’t walk to Aldi for the XL candle. I have my hands up [it] just in time for Christmas.”
A third wrote: “I just bought this candle and couldn’t wait until Christmas to light it! It’s amazing! I’m going to buy another one.”
“Managed to get my hands on the viral wooden candle from Aldi and I love it,” read a fourth.
“So much so that I think I need another one because it looks good in any room.”
A fifth said: “Can you believe it only costs £12.99 and comes in two scents?
“I’m also looking forward to using the wooden barrel again… maybe for garlic bread or nibbles. I bought a few for Christmas presents [too].”
“I got mine today, smells great too and can still smell it after I blow it out,” a sixth revealed.
Meanwhile, someone else agreed: “Can confirm it smells divine.”
And this isn’t the only thing Aldi shoppers are looking for: a new food arrival is creating a frenzy.
The German retailer is offering a dupe of Greggs’ festive baking tray for a fraction of the price.
The Crestwood Festive Bakes, which will be in the freezer section from November 27, are filled with chicken, beechwood smoked bacon and cranberries.
They come with a sage and onion sauce, all wrapped in puff pastry with a topping of parsley and breadcrumbs.
