Shoppers rush to Tesco’s to score bargains – perfect for autumn
AS temperatures drop, Brits are keen to stock up on warm yet stylish outfits in their wardrobes.
It’s no wonder shoppers are flocking to Tesco to get their hands on the new autumn collection, which perfectly combines fashion and functionality for the season.
Fashionistas are increasingly turning to Tesco’s F&F clothing and many are eager to get their hands on their stylish and high-quality clothes.
And fashionista Zoe, who is known as @zoetowellandtwins on TikTok, one of those who rushed to get their hands on Tesco’s F&F range is.
She showed off her huge purchases on TikTok and her video has now been viewed over 309,400 times, sending many fashion fans running to their local Tescos.
Zoe captioned it: “F&F never fails!”
She also revealed that they are giving 25 percent off their ‘must-have’ clothes.
Zoe filmed herself holding three large bags full of groceries and taking them out one by one.
She started by showing the camera a super warm wool coat that feels like faux sheepskin, currently priced at £30.
A fashionista said she saw a similar one at M&S, but she thinks it will be cheaper at Tesco.
They wrote: “That jacket is F&F. I saw one earlier today, I’m sure it was from M&S, it looks exactly the same so I bet this one will be cheaper (glad I saw this).”
The second item Zoe pulled out of the bag was a gray bomber jacket, followed by a cream Bardot sweater and a silky green ankle-length skirt.
But it’s the jeans that Zoe is most looking forward to trying on.
She managed to get hold of a pair of blue pants, which were rolled up to the ankles.
Zoe wrote: “I can’t wait to try on the jeans that actually look petite-friendly and grab all the viral ones.”
She also got her hands on a pair of black wide-leg pants, a beige oversized shirt, pinstripe pants and a cardigan.
Is supermarket fashion the new high street?
DEPUTY Fashion Editor Abby McHale says:
Supermarkets have really upped their game when it comes to their fashion lines. These days, when you pop in to do your weekly shop, you can also pick up a selection of wallet-friendly, stylish items for the whole family.
Tesco has just announced a 0.7 percent rise in the quarter thanks to ‘strong growth in clothing’ and M&S has earned the title of the number one destination for womenswear on the high street.
Asda’s George clothing line earned the supermarket £1.5m in 2023, 80 per cent of clothes at Sainsbury’s were sold at full price rather than discounted, and sales of Nutmeg at Morrisons have also risen by 2 per cent over the past year.
How is it that supermarket fashion is so successful?
The clothing is not only affordable but also of good quality, and much of the clothing is part of programs such as the Better Cotton Initiative.
They often stick to classic pieces that they know will last for years.
And because they buy so much stock, they can deliver quickly and the volumes are cheaper.
Her video attracted a lot of attention and many fashion fans took to the comments to share their opinions.
Someone wrote: “I need that grey jacket. I just couldn’t find it in my size!”
Another added: “Tesco trip planned.”
A third asked how long they have the 25 percent off, to which Zoe replied: “Until the 15th.”
Reasons to buy supermarket fashion
When you’re looking for new pieces to add to your seasonal wardrobe, or want to update your basics, you don’t have to spend hours scouring the shops or scrolling online. Just buy a dress or two alongside your fruit and veg…
They are handy – Chances are that you go to the supermarket more often than to a shopping mall or high street.
It is affordable – Supermarkets are leaders in budget fashion that doesn’t look cheap, from basic items to more fashionable pieces.
They are more fashionable than you might think – Because their customer base is larger than that of the average high street store, stores like ASDA, Sainsbury’s and Tesco are better able to respond to the market and predict trends in many more areas than just food supply.
They fit well – Fits and lengths often come with a bit more modesty in mind. Fabrics are often very practical too: think lots of 100% cotton that can be thrown in the washing machine without a second thought.
