GUWAHATI: Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh on Sunday made sharp remarks against the Congress and its leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, saying the opposition party is indulging in vote bank politics and is only concerned about ‘pro-Islam votes ‘. He said Rahul Gandhi would keep quiet about Bangladesh but visit Sambhal for “political tourism.”
“The Congress is pursuing the politics of voting. They see pro-Islam voices among Muslims. That’s why they go to Sambhal. But if anything happens to Hindus, they keep quiet,” Union Minister Giriraj Singh told ANI.
The Union minister further lashed out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for remaining silent on the issue Bangladesh issue. Singh, while probing Gandhi, said he was silent on Bangladesh but would go to Sambhal on December 2 for ‘political tourism’.
“Rahul Gandhi is silent on the Bangladesh issue. He will go to Sambhal on December 2 for political tourism,” Union Minister Singh said.
Reacting to Priyanka Gandhi’s comments against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at her rally on Saturday, Singh attacked her and said Congress has no right to talk about the Constitution.
“The leader (Priyanka Gandhi) you mentioned, her grandmother, imposed a state of emergency and destroyed the Constitution. The person whose grandfather didn’t care about the Constitution is talking about the Constitution. Chot Chori ke khilaaf bol raha hai. The Congress has no right to speak,” the Union minister said.
Speaking about the ongoing tensions in Bangladesh, Singh called on the Hindus of Bangladesh to remain united while holding the Congress and Partition responsible for the current situation.

Singh and Minister of State (MoS) for Textiles Pabitra Margherita were in Guwahati on Sunday, where they attended the International Conference on Sustainability and Climate Change. The Union Minister also visited the stalls of an exhibition organized on the occasion.
