Sling TV will increase subscription prices in December

Sling TV will increase the price of its basic packages by $6 starting December 20. This will be the first time in almost two years that the live TV streaming service has increased its prices. In March 2023, the streamer increased prices in select markets by $5.

The Sling Orange and Sling Blue plans will cost $46 per month after the price increase takes effect, while the Sling Orange-and-Blue tier jumps to $61 per month. Each plan offers a range of live channels such as ESPN, Bravo and TBS, with 35 channels for the Orange plan, 43 for Blue and 68 for the combo package.

“These increases are industry-wide – other leading streaming providers have seen increases in 2024,” said the company website states. “Despite this, Sling remains the most affordable option, with offers that pay more than $20 less per month than other providers.”

The timing of the price increase follows closely behind DirecTV’s bid to acquire the service in September and after the company extended its distribution agreements with The Walt Disney Company, including ESPN, ABC, FX, Freeform, Hulu and Disney Plus. Sling TV is the latest streaming service to increase its prices in 2024. Max, Peacock and Paramount Plus all increased their prices this summer. Disney implemented a price increase for ESPN, Hulu and Disney Plus in October.

Coinciding with the price increase news, Sling TV announced the addition of five new games to the free Arcade feature: Pac-Man, Trivia Crack, Dots, Wordleful and Haunted Castle are now playable for subscribers. The company also has a separate, free platform called Sling Freestream, which lets you watch a range of live and on-demand content.
