She shared a video on the platform about her camping trip with her sister in Wales to tell her followers how they kept their place clean.

“A camping trick I stole from someone else,” she began.

“£1 laundry basket, put a black bag in it and voila,” she said.

Kirsty then showed a close-up of the bin she had bought at Poundland with the bag inside. Her sister joked: “There’s rubbish in there!”

You can buy a laundry basket like Kirsty’s from Wilko for £1.99.

The description reads: “This collapsible mesh laundry basket features handles on the top for easy carrying.

“Great for any home, this has a foldable design when not in use

People in the comments said they would “steal” her trick the next time they were staying in their tent.

“I mistook the laundry basket for a trash can, yes I stole the idea too [thumbs up and rolling on the floor laughing emoji]”, someone wrote.

Another commented: “Awesome! I’m going to use this next time. Thank you!”

We’ve seen so many dirty things on picnic tables at campsites – our trick protects us from germs and makes cleaning much easier

“Oh my god, I’ve been camping for 15 years [and] “I never thought I would steal this,” said someone else.

However, others were concerned that animals would get to the used food and the wind would blow it away.

“Then you get some wind and it’s halfway across the field!!” someone said.

Another commented: “I did this last year and it was fine until a rat got into the porch that didn’t have a built-in GS and chewed through the trash can.”

“Animals are right in the night so I hope you take it inside,” wrote a third.

Kirsty explained that she and her sister had brought it inside and that it was only outside because they were eating.

Another user saw another great idea from Kirsty for camping: the solar lamps outside the tent.

They said, “The pins are such a good idea for the solar lights. I’m definitely going to do that.”

This isn’t the first great camping trick we’ve shared lately.

Three camping tips from an expert

David Scotland is the owner of Outdoor World Direct, a camping equipment store, and knows all about making a camping trip run smoothly.

When visiting a campsite this summer, it is important to ensure that you do not make simple mistakes that could ruin your holiday.

Check your tent

David recommends setting up your tent a few weeks before you leave so you have time to repair or replace any damaged parts.

He told Sun Online Travel: “You’d be surprised how many people turn up with broken tents.”

Test the soil

Choosing a good place to pitch your tent is tricky, there are many things to consider.

One of these should be the condition of the ground you pitch your tent on, David says.

He said, “Once you find the perfect spot, test the ground with your pegs before you camp there to make sure the ground is soft enough.”

Don’t take a nap in your tent

It may seem like the perfect spot, but taking a nap in a tent can end badly if you do it at the wrong time of day.

David explained: “If the sun is shining and it’s warm in your tent – don’t do it!

“One of our friends fell asleep in his tent during a heatwave at Glastonbury and ended up in the medical tent with heatstroke.”

Instead, he recommends seeking shade outside, or a spot with good ventilation.

A TikTokker shared her stepmom’s trick for keeping food from spoiling, which can also help with first aid.

Instead of coolers with ice in them, she recommended using food containers filled with ice.

This can then serve as an ice pack.

“They work like ice cubes, but once they melt, you throw them out. At that point, you’ve made a lot of food, so you can refill them with food,” she said.

“My stepmother is a genius.”
