Smart mum reveals ‘game changer’ tip to help you save money on your Tesco purchase
A woman has shared a simple tip that can help you save money on your next grocery shopping trip.
So if you are planning to go to Tesco to do your shopping, then this is definitely a place to check out.
Naomi Willis, an ‘award-winning blogger’ from the UK who often shares tips, tricks and hacks to save money, explains why you should carefully read the stickers on products before buying anything from Tesco.
Especially if you are about to receive your salary and need to scrape together some extra money to buy groceries, this simple advice can be very useful. It will help you know whether it is worth waiting to buy products.
The clever mum posted her clip on social media with the caption, ‘Sale price trick hiding in plain sight! This works at Tesco. Have you seen anything similar in other supermarkets?’
She then took her followers to her local Tesco and said: “This is a trick that many people don’t know about but it could make all the difference in whether you buy something or not.

“So you know the item is on sale, but if you zoom in here, you can actually see when the sale ends.”
The Tesco fan zoomed in on the white stickers, next to the Clubcard prize, to show her shopping trick.
Below the normal price, on the right side of the sticker, there is always a random six-digit number.
But according to this ‘poor’ content creator, this number indicates when the offer for that specific product expires.
The mother added: “This happens with everything – it’s the date backwards and it shows when the offer expires.”
The clever mum, who posted her clip back in March, gave her followers a close-up look at the sticker on Tesco Finest’s hot cross buns.
Originally a pack cost £1.60, but for Clubcard holders the price was reduced to just £1.25.
But when the Tesco customer looked at the small white sticker, she saw the numbers ‘240401’.
What can I get with Tesco Clubcard?
TESCO’s Clubcard programme allows customers to earn points while they shop.
You can then exchange these points for discount vouchers for food at the supermarket or for discounts in other places, such as restaurants and days out.
Every time you spend £1 in store or online you get one point when you scan your Clubcard.
Drivers who use the customer card receive one point for every two liters of fuel they spend.
One point is equal to 1p, so for example 150 points you would get a £1.50 discount voucher.
You can double their value if you exchange them for discounts at ‘reward partners’.
For example, you can redeem £12 in vouchers for a three-month Disney+ subscription worth £24.
Or you can exchange 50p in points for £1 to spend at Hungry Horse pubs.
Where you can spend them changes regularly. You can check what’s currently available on the Tesco website.
Tesco customers can also take advantage of Clubcard prices if they have a loyalty card.
The discounted items change regularly and without a Clubcard you will pay a higher price.
These Clubcard prices are usually listed on the shelves, along with the price for non-members.
But it is important to know that it is not necessarily the cheapest offer, even if there is a discount. Compare prices to find the best deal.
You can sign up for a Tesco Clubcard in-store or online via the Tesco website.
The observant shopper noticed that the numbers represented the date, but in reverse, claiming that this classic purchase would be sold at full price again on April 1st.
The bargain hunter continued: “This is a really good tip to figure out whether you should make a bigger purchase now for a better price, or whether you should wait and buy it next week.”
With this simple advice, you now know whether it’s worth stocking your cupboards with something, or waiting until your next paycheck when you’ll have more money to spend. If the offer is still valid then, you can spread your costs better when you go shopping.

Furthermore, many social media users, including Tesco employees, said they had no idea about this.
How to Save Money on Your Grocery Shopping
THERE ARE countless ways to save on your groceries.
You can look for yellow or red stickers on products. These indicate when the product has been reduced in price.
If the food is fresh, you will need to eat it quickly or freeze it for another time.
Making a list also saves you money because you are less likely to make hasty purchases at the supermarket.
By choosing your own brand, you can also easily save hundreds of euros per year on your food bill.
This means you need to drop the ‘best’ or ‘luxury’ products and instead opt for ‘own’ or ‘value’ lines.
Many supermarkets have strange fruit and vegetable promotions, which allow you to get them cheaply if they are misshapen or not good.
For example, Lidl runs its Waste Not programme, offering 5kg boxes of fruit and vegetables for just £1.50.
If you are on a low income and are elderly, you may be able to get up to £442 a year in Healthy Start vouchers that you can also use at the supermarket.
In addition, many municipalities offer supermarket vouchers as part of the Household Support Fund.
Someone said: “I work at Tesco and didn’t know this.”
Another added: “I work there and was never told this.”
A third commented: “I had no idea about this! Thank you.”
Then the smart mother said, “It’s not new, but it’s easily overlooked and misunderstood.”
