Snapchat update brings iPad support, but there’s a catch

Snapchat has rolled out a much-requested feature to iPad users, adding to a comprehensive list of updates coming in 2024. Following the latest update, the social media app now works natively on the Apple device, moving from the tablet-optimized iPhone app to a more native experience. This year, the platform introduced several new features, including editable chats and emoji reactions, giving users new ways to communicate with friends and loved ones.

Snapchat Updated With iPad Support

Snapchat rolled out on iOS in 2011. Up until now, iPad users have been able to use it on their devices, but the experience has been pretty subpar, with wide black borders around the small portrait window, much like the Instagram app. Thirteen years after its launch, it’s finally been brought natively to the Pad.

The changelog for Snapchat 13.4. 0. 41 on the App Store notes that the app now offers “native support for iPad.” When taking photos or videos, it should give users a larger canvas, and allow them to see more friends in the second and fourth tabs.

Snapchat is now optimized for the larger screens of Apple tablets, but it can only do so in portrait mode. This suggests that the app may not be fully optimized for the iPad.

Recently Released Snapchat Features

Snapchat has received some major updates in recent months, with several new features. Last year, social media platform developer Snap introduced My AI, an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot that allows users to have conversations, set reminders, generate images, and more. However, some features are only accessible to paid Snapchat+ subscribers.

A recent update introduced support for message editing, allowing users to modify messages up to five minutes after sending them. This was followed by the Emoji Reactions feature. As the name suggests, this feature enhances the chatting experience by allowing users to react to messages with any emoji.

The app’s latest major update includes improved safety settings regarding sending requests to teens, sharing locations with others, and the blocking feature.
