Social Security Disability Insurance August 2024: Here’s When Your Check Will Arrive
The first two rounds of Social Security Disability Insurance, or SSDI, payments for August have already been sent out, and we have two more to go this month. Next Wednesday, we’ll be sending out the third check to recipients based on their birthday. If you’re not sure when you’ll get your SSDI check, we’ll break down the payment schedule for you and tell you how the date is determined by the Social Security Administration.
Through SSDI, the Social Security Administration sends monthly payments to people who have disabilities that prevent them from working or have limited ability to work.
When you receive your monthly check depends on your date of birth or when you began receiving SSDI. We’ll help you determine when to expect your next check below. For more information, don’t miss the Social Security payment schedules and the SSI payment schedules.
Payment schedule if you have had SSDI since May 1997 or earlier
If you began receiving SSDI before May 1997, you would typically receive your payment on the third day of each month. Note that this is not always the case, such as when the third day falls on a weekend or holiday. This past March was such a month, and SSDI recipients received their payments two days early, on the first day of the month.
For all others, payments depend on date of birth
If you began receiving SSDI after May 1997, your payment date is determined by the day of the month you were born. Payments are typically issued on the second, third, and fourth Wednesdays of the month. The Wednesday on which you receive your check is broken down as follows:
