When will I receive my July Social Security benefit?
Below is the July schedule showing when you should receive your Social Security benefits or SSDI money.
- 3 July: Social security benefits for people who received social security since May 1997.
- 10th of July: Benefits from the Social Insurance Bank for people with a birthday between the first and the tenth of a given month.
- July 17: Benefits from the Social Insurance Bank for people with a birthday between the 11th and the 20th of a given month.
- July 24: Social security benefits for people with a birthday between the 21st and 31st of a given month.
How does the agency determine the date on which I will receive my social security benefit?
The Social Security Administration typically sends payments on the second, third, and fourth Wednesdays of each month. The day you receive your check depends on your birthday.
- If your birthday falls between the 1st and 10th of the month, your payment will be sent on the second Wednesday of the month.
- If your birthday falls between the 11th and the 20th of the month, your payment will be sent on the third Wednesday of the month.
- If your birthday falls between the 21st and the 31st of the month, your payment will be sent on the fourth Wednesday of the month.
Payments to SSI recipients are typically paid on the first of each month, with a few exceptions that we’ll explain below.
Will I receive both my Social Security and SSI benefits on the same day?
If you received Social Security benefits before May 1997, or if you received both Social Security and SSI, the payment schedule is different. Instead of receiving your payments on Wednesdays, you will receive your Social Security payment on the third day of each month and your SSI payment on the first day of each month.
Those payment dates change if the first or third day of the month falls on a weekend or holiday. For example, March 3 fell on a weekend, so Social Security recipients received their March payments two days earlier, on March 1.
What if I don’t receive my Social Security benefits?
If your check does not arrive by the date listed above — or does not arrive at all — the Social Security Administration advises waiting an additional three days for mailing before contacting them. After that, you can speak to a representative at 800-772-1213. (The SSA Notes (that waiting times are shorter from Wednesday to Friday and between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM on weekdays.)
