Solar AirGo Vision reportedly unveiled; gets GPT-4o, Gemini integration
Solos AirGo Vision smart glasses were recently unveiled by the company, according to a report. The Hong Kong-based brand has only offered audio-based smart features so far, and this will be the first time that the device will also offer artificial intelligence (AI) features with computer vision. The smart glasses are said to come integrated with GPT-4o large language model (LLM) that will offer vision-based features. However, the device will also reportedly work with Google Gemini and Anthropic’s Claude AI.
Solos AirGo Vision Reportedly Unveiled
According to a report According to 9to5Google, the Solos AirGo Vision will be the brand’s first camera-enabled smart glasses. The device is expected to launch later this month. The device is said to come integrated with OpenAI’s latest AI model GPT-4o out of the box and will offer computer vision capabilities.
For the end user, this means that once an image is captured by the device’s camera, the AI can answer questions about the image. It can reportedly recognize locations, objects, environments, and more. Once recognized, it can then provide more information about the images.
To provide vision capabilities, the smart glasses will be equipped with a camera on the right side of the frame, similar to the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. These cameras can take photos and record videos. Once captured, the AI can take over and provide assistance by analyzing the images.
The report cites the press release and notes that the AirGo Vision can navigate and provide directions and landmarks, share next steps in a recipe while cooking, assist with studies, and even provide contextual information while shopping. The last part is interesting because the device can reportedly search the internet and find if a better price is available elsewhere.
According to the report, Solos AIrGo Vision will also come with interchangeable frames, similar to its other devices. This means that users can effectively remove the frame mounted on the camera and replace it with another set of frames. It will give users the convenience of not having to carry the camera to a place where it may not be appropriate. Apart from the camera, it will also feature speakers and LED lights.
Solo’s AirGo Vision will reportedly launch in July and the base model of the device will be priced at $249.99 (approximately Rs. 20,850). However, this model will come without a camera. The pricing of the camera-equipped variant has not been revealed yet. For reference, the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, which offer similar features, cost $299 (approximately Rs. 24,900).
