The United States will hope home advantage will help them prevent Europe from winning the Solheim Cup for a fourth time, a historic moment when the two teams play each other this weekend.

The 19th edition of the tournament will take place at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Virginia. Europe is still the title holder, after a dramatic 14-14 draw was achieved last year at Finca Cortesin in Spain.

Stacy Lewis returns as captain of the talented Team USA, which also includes world number 1 Nelly Korda, as she hopes to lead her team to their first victory since 2017.

Suzann Pettersen, meanwhile, is the captain of the European team that is looking to further reduce Team USA’s lead in Solheim Cup triumphs. The home team currently has ten wins to its name, compared to eight for Europe.

How to Watch Solheim Cup 2024 Online from Anywhere Using a VPN

If you can’t watch the tournament locally, you may need another way to watch. In that case, a VPN can come in handy. A VPN is also the best way to prevent your ISP from throttling your speed by encrypting your traffic. It’s also a good idea if you’re traveling and connected to a Wi-Fi network and want to add an extra layer of privacy to your devices and logins.

A VPN allows you to virtually change your location on your phone, tablet, or laptop in order to access the tournament. So if your ISP or mobile provider has given you an IP address that incorrectly displays your location in a blackout zone, a VPN can fix that by giving you an IP address in your correct, non-blackout area. Most VPNs, like our Editors’ Choice ExpressVPN, make it very easy to do this.

It’s legal to use a VPN to watch or stream sports in any country where VPNs are legal, including the US, UK, and Canada, as long as you have a legitimate subscription to the service you’re streaming from. You’ll want to make sure your VPN is set up correctly to prevent leaks: Even where VPNs are legal, the streaming service can terminate the account of anyone it sees as circumventing properly enforced blackout restrictions.

Quick Tips for Streaming the Solheim Cup Using a VPN

  • Depending on four variables (your internet service provider, browser, video streaming provider, and VPN), your experience and success streaming the Solheim Cup can vary.
  • If you don’t see your desired location as a default option for ExpressVPN, try the ‘Search by city or country’ option.
  • If you’re having trouble receiving the tournament after enabling your VPN and setting it to the correct viewing area, there are two things you can try for a quick fix. First, log in to your streaming service subscription account and make sure that the address registered to the account is one in the correct viewing area. If not, you may need to change the physical address stored with your account. Second, some smart TVs, like Roku, don’t have VPN apps that you can install directly on the device itself. Instead, you’ll need to install the VPN on your router or the mobile hotspot you’re using (like your phone) so that every device on the Wi-Fi network will now appear in the correct viewing location.
  • All of the VPN providers we recommend have helpful instructions on their main sites for quickly installing the VPN on your router. In some cases with smart TV services, after installing a cable network’s sports app, you’ll be asked to verify a numeric code or click a link sent to the email address stored for your smart TV. This is where a VPN on your router also helps, as both devices appear to be in the correct location.
  • And remember that browsers can often reveal your location, despite using a VPN. So make sure you use a privacy-first browser to log into your services. We normally recommend Brave.
