NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday lashed out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and alleged that Sonia Gandhi has tried to promote Rahul Gandhi around 20 times, suggesting that her ‘Rahul plane’ is once again on the verge of failure ranked with a possible 21st. setback. Addressing an election rally in Giridih in Jharkhand, Shah alleged that the Waqf Board in Karnataka has seized land from old temples and promised a change in the law to prevent this even if it faces strong opposition.
“Sonia-ji is very fond of launching her son. Sonia-ji tried to launch the ‘Rahul plane’ twenty times but it did not land. It crashed twenty times. It will crash the 21st time at Deoghar airport ,” he said.
Shah also accused the Waqf board of grabbing agricultural lands.
“This waqf board has a habit of grabbing land. In Karnataka, they have devoured properties of entire villages and 500 year old temples. They have seized agricultural lands. Tell me whether any changes are needed in the waqf boards or not. Hemant -babu and Rahul Gandhi is against it, let them oppose it. The BJP will pass a bill in Parliament to amend the Waqf Board Act and no one can stop it,” he said.
Shah accused the JMM-led coalition of using infiltrators as a ‘vote bank’ and promised to tackle illegal immigration if the BJP comes to power in Jharkhand. He vowed to eradicate Naxalism and infiltration and vowed to deport “any infiltrator”.
Shah said the JMM alliance had already lost ground in the first phase of elections and asserted that the BJP would ensure victory in the state. Shah noted that although Jharkhand supplies coal to power the nation, its population remains impoverished. He promised that if elected, the BJP would make Jharkhand the most prosperous state within five years.
Shah also promised to set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe alleged corruption by JMM leaders, with plans to hold them accountable and recover money for the state exchequer. He further promised to develop mineral-based industries in Jharkhand, which would create jobs to reduce the need for migration.
