Sophie’s choice! The £475 royal accessory that Kate, Zara and Beatrice all held…
Anya Hindmarch’s must-have accessories have been spotted on countless members of the royal family, from the Princess of Wales to the Duchess of Sussex.
Among these, the Maud clutch stands out as a firm favorite.
This beautiful clutch is handmade in London using traditional techniques and can be personalized with an embroidered monogram or hidden message, making it an attractive choice for any woman.
The British royal family has showcased seven versions of Anya Hindmarch’s coveted Maud clutch, ranging from the soft pink satin version to a gold-woven leather bag.
It all started in 2010 when Sophie, then the Countess of Wessex, wore a custom-made silver version to the wedding of Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden.

Sophie’s shiny leather clutch beautifully complemented her dazzling Anthemion tiara, Amanda Wakeley dress and LK Bennett heels.
Since then, this £475 bag has become an essential at royal events, with Kate, Zara, Eugenie and Beatrice wearing the coveted design in ivory, beige and soft pink satin.
Following the success of the original design, the company introduced the Maud Tassel clutch, which has a different closure and is slightly larger.
A bespoke service is available for both variants, allowing customers to choose the exact fabric, frame and closure and personalize the bag to create a unique product.
Over the years, this iconic bag has appeared at many important events, most notably at the State Banquet for the President of the Republic of Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol, and his wife, Kim Keon Hee, at Buckingham Palace in November 2023.
Interestingly, both Kate and Sophie, who are said to share a strong friendship, wore Maud handles.

Noble-eyed fans were thrilled to see Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, carrying her original clutch, paired with a Suzannah London dress and Emmy London heels.
Meanwhile, Kate picked up a ready-made version in ivory satin, with a gold frame, an ornate pearl clasp, a detachable chain strap and a sumptuous suede-lined interior. Made from tightly woven wire for a shiny appearance, this bag is the perfect size to carry essentials such as a phone, handbag and make-up products.
It was the tenth time Sophie used her beloved bag, before she recycled it for another state banquet in June, held for Emperor Naruhito and his wife, Empress Masako of Japan.
It wasn’t Kate’s first outing with her bag either, and she has also worn a different version made in black satin eleven times.
The Princess debuted this design in May 2011 and notably took it with her on her royal tour of Canada with Prince William the following month.

Anya Hindmarch has released a Maud metal mesh clutch, available in gold or silver, that’s perfect for the holidays
Meanwhile, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie are particularly fond of the Maud white woven leather tassel, having opted for the design several times this year.
For example, Beatrice wore the clutch during a garden party at Buckingham Palace and combined it with a charming crimson dress from Beulah London and pumps from Jennifer Chamandi.
Eugenie used the same bag for the society wedding of the year – the Duke of Westminster and Olivia Henson – in June, and again at Royal Ascot.
Unsurprisingly, their cousin Zara Tindall’s coveted bag collection also includes several Maud clutches.
In June, she set a trend with a shiny gold version, which was brand new for Anya Hindmarch’s spring/summer 2024 collection.
This small bag is handmade from luxurious woven leather and features the signature gold-colored frame, tassel closure and a detachable chain strap. It’s no surprise that it’s sold out and is no longer available.
This design has since been replaced by a metal mesh version, available in gold or silver, ideal for the holidays.
