GUMLA/RANCHI: During the election rallies in Gumla and Ranchi in Jharkhand, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday described the Hemant Soren-led INDIA block government as “merged squatters of Diwali” while “BJP and its allies are powerful missiles ” which could launch the mineral-rich state to new heights. JMM responded by saying that the election results would reveal who actually is the merged squatter.
Singh also termed JMM, Congress and RJD as obstacles to Jharkhand’s development and said the voters of the state should remove these obstacles in the upcoming elections. He said of the seven chief ministers of the state so far, three are facing jail terms but none of the three are from the BJP. “BJP has always run the government flawlessly, but whenever the JMM government came, corruption increased,” the defense minister said.
JMM spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya said: “Come on November 23 and it will be exposed who the actual fused cracker is.”
Singh also promised to stop illegal immigration from Bangladesh and protect tribal rights if the BJP formed a government. “Legislation to reclaim tribal land from encroachers will be passed,” Singh said at both the meetings.
Alleging that tribals are losing confidence in the JMM-led alliance, Singh cited how Mandal Murmu, a descendant of tribal icon and freedom fighter Sido Kanhu, recently switched to BJP. “Despite being CM Hemant Soren’s candidate before his candidature, Murmu preferred to join the BJP as people today consider JMM and its allies as a sinking ship. Their employees are leaving those parties,” he said.
