In a after On Mumsnet, the user shared the unusual name, but was quickly shut down when people pointed out how it sounded.

“I heard this name recently and liked it,” the poster said.

The pregnant woman said she was considering naming her daughter Takara.

Mumsnet users shared their thoughts on the name in the comments, joking about the different things it made them think of.

“Sorry, I don’t like it. It sounds like a foot fungus cream to me,” wrote one reader.

“I’m picturing a spicy sauce, that doesn’t sound very pleasant – tacky,” said someone else.

A third Mumsnet user commented that it sounds like someone trying to say “Tara stuttering”.

“Terrible, sounds like a bad science fiction character,” said another reader.

Someone told why he wouldn’t use Takara as a baby name.

“It’s a Japanese toy company, so I’m going to say no,” she explained.

Another Mumsnet user said he had actually come across someone with the unique name.

“My son had a friend who called it this. I always thought the name was weird and it sounded like tachycardia,” she said.

“I think it’s one of the whales from the Blackfish documentary,” someone else wrote.

“I like it, but I probably wouldn’t dare use it.”

“When I heard it, I thought of a curry. Chicken Takara came to mind,” said one reader.

Are Unique Baby Names Worth It?

Fabulous’ deputy editor-in-chief talks about the problems she had with her name as a child.

As a child, I wanted nothing more than a personalized keychain with my name on it.

But it wasn’t. The closest I could get were Rosie, Joseph (not so nice for such a little girl) and Joanne.

Josie is short for Josephine, a French first name, and I’ve been in my twenties without ever meeting anyone with the same first name.

When I try to introduce myself to people I get called all sorts of random names like Tracey and Stacey and it can be quite annoying.

Although I’ve met a few Josies in the past year (there are a few around my age), it’s still a much rarer name than most of my friends’ names.

Overall I don’t mind it, at least it’s not crude or spelled weird.

And that means I can get away with ‘doing a Cheryl’ and just calling myself Josie.

I’m getting married this year and some friends are shocked that I’m changing my last name. It’s not considered cool or feminist these days. I explain to them that I’m not that attached to Griffiths because I always just say ‘Hi, I’m Josie’ when I call a friend.

I like being unique and I will definitely try to achieve this when naming my own children.

You have to watch out for the crude names, so after nine years as a lifestyle journalist I will definitely avoid them.

A woman pointed out the likely nickname the poster’s daughter would receive.

“Her name will always be Tacky. Sorry, but I don’t like it,” she said.

Another parent said the unusual name “made me laugh, it was so awful.”

A Mumsnet user said the name “sounds like an airport.”

“On the plus side, if you’re someone who’s worried about friends copying your kid’s name, I think you… [have] “Don’t worry,” said another reader.
