A new mother has been criticised after she went public with the unique name she chose for her daughter.

People compare the nickname to the sound a cat makes when it is choking.

In a after On Reddit, a user shared the unusual name, which a woman she knows had posted on Facebook.

“Thank you, Lord God, for the safe arrival of our princess,” the unnamed woman wrote in her birth announcement.

While the word “princess” may not sound that strange to a young girl, the mother said it was more than just a term of endearment.

“Welcome to the world, little princess Khyth,” she said.

The original poster wasn’t too impressed with the baby name choice.

“Who needs vowels, anyway?” the Reddit user asked in the title of his post.

Other Redditors shared their thoughts on the unique baby name choice in the comments.

“It sounds like the sound my cat makes when he’s choking on a hairball,” one reader wrote.

“Imagine trying to get a job under that name,” someone else commented.

“That poor little baby, what a horrible name,” a third Reddit user commented.

My baby was born TWICE, at 27 and 38 weeks gestation. Doctors took him out of my womb for surgery and then put him back.

Others debated how the unique name should be pronounced.

“I feel like I’m having a stroke trying to figure out how to say this,” one commenter wrote.

“I read Keith first, but [thought] definitely not. Tried again and got Kith and it’s no better,” said another person.

“My brain wants it to be a variation on Katie just based on what I read, but it just can’t,” said one reader.

“Maybe there aren’t any letters and she’s just a princess?” another Redditor suggested.

Are Unique Baby Names Worth It?

You may think that a unique name will make you stand out, but is it really?

Josie Griffiths, deputy editor of Fabulous, talks about the problems she had with her name as a child.

As a child, I wanted nothing more than a personalized keychain with my name on it.

But it wasn’t. The closest I could get were Rosie, Joseph (not so nice for such a little girl) and Joanne.

Josie is short for Josephine, a French first name, and I’ve been in my twenties without ever meeting anyone with the same first name.

When I try to introduce myself to people I get called all sorts of random names like Tracey and Stacey and it can be quite annoying.

Although I’ve met a few Josies in the past year (there are a few around my age), it’s still a much rarer name than most of my friends’ names.

Overall I don’t mind it, at least it’s not crude or spelled weird.

And that means I can get away with ‘doing a Cheryl’ and just calling myself Josie.

I’m getting married this year and some friends are shocked that I’m changing my last name. It’s not considered cool or feminist these days. I explain to them that I’m not that attached to Griffiths because I always just say ‘Hi, I’m Josie’ when I call a friend.

I like being unique and I will definitely try to achieve this when naming my own children.

You have to watch out for the crude names, so after nine years as a lifestyle journalist I will definitely avoid them.

“I think they were aiming for Princess Kate with a lisp,” one reader joked.

“At first I read it as Khyth (rhymes with wife), then I read it as Khyth (like kiss but with a lisp), then I put my phone down because it gave me a headache,” said another.

“I read it like Mike Tyson saying ‘kiss,’” one Reddit user said.

“First name Princess? At least it’s spelled correctly,” another commenter noted.

“Yeah, that’s what I find so confusing. They could spell Princess and then just stick some letters together to make the name complete?” asked one reader.
