AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan on Saturday said drugs are a threat to the state and called for special focus on curbing the drug mafia. Placing the blame for this threat on the past YSRCP regimehe stressed that special attention is needed to curb ganja (marijuana) cultivation and related criminal activities in the state.
“Drugs have become a threat to the state. Another legacy issue that our NDA government (government) inherited from a previous corrupt and criminal regime (YSRCP). Special attention is needed to curb the drug mafia, cultivation of ganja and related criminal activities in the state,” Kalyan said in a post on ‘X’, tagging Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
Recalling the seizure of a drug container at Vizag port a few months ago and seizure of drugs elsewhere in the country, Kalyan alleged that these developments were linked to a trading company in Vijayawada.
He alleged that the drug mafia had flourished under the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led regime and called for a comprehensive action plan to tackle criminals involved in these activities.
He further alleged that the previous YSRCP regime had also deprived the state of its natural resources.
