‘Speeding’ BMW, Mercedes cause cabin to spin on sea route; no casualties | India News – Times of India
MUMBAI: A three-car collision left one lane of the road closed. Bandra-Worli Sea Link Sunday, completely stuck for half an hour. Although no one was seriously injured, the three vehicles were damaged. Two of the cars were “racing” each other, the driver of the third vehicle claimed.
The impact of the collision was so great that one of the cars, a taxi, spun three times before being dragged from the fourth lane to the first and making a U-turn in the same lane.
Around 11:00 am, when a Mercedes rammed into a BMW in front, which in turn collided with a taxi on the road towards Bandra, police said. The taxi, which was carrying a family, was pushed to the far end of the roadway.
The occupants of the taxi were taken to hospital. No one was seriously injured, police said.
A criminal offence has been registered against the drivers of the BMW and the Mercedes. An officer said the two drivers were taken to JJ Hospital for a medical examination to check if they were drunk.
“The BMW and Mercedes were speeding. The taxi driver, Nisar Ahmed (26), filed a complaint against the drivers of the two cars, stating that they were trying to “race each other”. The drivers of the BMW and Mercedes – Mumbai Central resident Shahbaz Khan (31) and Kurla resident Tarique Chaudhary (29) – were arrested. They were booked for ‘attempt to murder, reckless driving endangering life.
