Tai Woffinden, lying on the track in a confused mess, admits that the last thing he remembers, people cry on the size of his injuries.
The five times world champion delved minutes after the horror crash where he sustained more than 15 broken bones after one Fast accumulation in KrosnoPoland at the end of March.
Great -Britain Ace Mad34, received an emergency helicopter air bridge to the hospital, because the fears grew over his survival because of breast injuries and a huge blood loss.
He then became in one medically induced coma After three long major operations.
But two months after fighting for his life, Woffinden is now running And eight weeks ahead in his debilitating recovery plan in rehabilitation.
In his first interview since the incident, he reveals how he heard the thigh bone in his leg and that the first people were on stage in tears when they see his condition because his arms “point in the wrong direction”.
He admitted: “I remember everything. In the race I crashed, I made a pretty decent start, so I baked the accelerator pedal a bit in the corner.
“The Junior Rider from Gate One rode over the curb, ran the man who was from gate two, who then gathered me.
“While I was gathered, as you normally do, let it fall on the side and slide to the fence. And while you slid over the track, my bike first hit the APD (Airfence), which probably lifted it about a meter.
“And the moment I saw that elevator, I just went,” Oh F *** “. And then I hit the fence, I heard my thigh.
“It’s almost like you’re under water and you are making a tree branch.
“I was then put on the track. I remember looking up and saw everyone around me. The face of the team manager looked like he had seen a spirit.
“One person cried to my body. My arms all focused in the wrong direction. My left shoulder was disrupted, pointing upwards.
“My judge Humerus was crushed at the bottom. My elbow was disrupted and my elbow was broken.
“I couldn’t see my hands when I was on the track because they both point.
“So I was saying there:” Give me some medicines. ” I said ‘convex, convex, convex’ which means pain in shine, just to make sure they knew what I was talking about.
“I don’t know if I fainted with the amount of fentanyl they had given me or the amount of blood I had lost.”
Woffinden, Groot -Britain Biggest rider everHad a double composite right thigh breach, broken back, right humerus composite fracture, disrupted and beaten right elbow, 12 broken ribs, pierced lung, left broken shoulder blade and disrupted left shoulder.
He added: “I remember the knives of the helicopter, the sound of it began to rise. And then the next, I am in a coma.
‘There were So many injuriesI would probably not have been awake and dealing with the injuries. One of the operations was 12 hours long and I had several blood transfusions.
“I thought a coma would have been a pleasant sleep. It was exactly the opposite. It was the worst thing I had ever experienced. It was sometimes very scary. I was on sedativa and painkillers and antibiotics.
“I hallucinated, I dreamed and had nightmares. Normally you have a nightmare and you wake up. Well, I couldn’t wake up.
“I dealt with what wanted s ***. I woke up from the coma, and everything I had dreamed, I believed it was real. And My wife Faye Was like, “size, that didn’t happen.” I got angry with Faye because she didn’t believe me. ‘
Woffinden refused to be drawn on what the future in Speedway entails, his only focus is on full recovery of the enormous toll of injuries.
He added: “There are so many variables. We have to give it that extra month to heal and then have the CT scan, so that we can really see what happens from all the different angles.
“I may need another operation on my humerus in my arm because it was shattered in 27 places. If the metalwork did not help together, I need another OP.
“I have done everything I can. I have done rehabilitation four to five hours a day since I left the hospital. My progress is at a different level.
“It’s ridiculous. Where I get the injuries, f ***** is a phenomenal.
“I would like to ride my bike again, whether it is competitive or not or just practice, who knows?
“But I just make personal goals to keep achieving. Only my recovery comes first.”
