Spirit Airlines passenger gets frustrating surprise after trying to sit in seat 1A, for which she paid extra
A Spirit Airlines passenger was furious when she wanted to sit in the front row (for which she had paid extra), only to be replaced by someone else.
‘Today I’m the last to board the plane… someone is occupying my seat 1A so I show the flight attendant [my boarding pass,’ an Instagram user wrote on Threads on Tuesday.
She said it was obvious that the girl who stole her seat was with her friend, who had booked seat adjoining seat, but the seat stealer ‘claims she doesn’t know where her boarding pass or seat is.’
At that point, the traveler said a flight attendant offered to look up the woman’s seat – when suddenly she seems to remember where she is supposed to sit.
‘She says, “Oh, I’m in 18B, she can take my seat!” the Instagram user wrote, clearly appalled by the woman’s suggestion.
Instagram user @barbzinthecity was left infuriated when she tried to sit in her front row seat on a Spirit Airlines flight Tuesday
‘Ma’am audacity is on clearance, but you need to go to your seat, I’ll be taking my seat! Like blame your [girlfriend] because I didn’t book you with her because I know I can’t look that nice or that stupid.’
Many others who commented on the post agreed with her decision, attacking the stranger for trying to swap a Business Class seat for an Economy seat.
“I stand behind you,” wrote @travasatx.
Maybe if they would handle it in a respectful manner, but if they choose to be disrespectful, then I bet I’ll have you moved.[r] “Get your ass back in your seat.”
Another Instagram user wrote that it was “convenient” that she “lost” her boarding pass from the moment she scanned it at the gate to the moment she was comfortably seated in the front row.
‘And that you would be okay or naive enough to go from Business Class to Economy, when you clearly paid the price for your seat?? The audacity of people these days astounds me.’
She said there was a woman sitting in the seat she had booked, and she had the audacity to offer her a seat in Economy Class.
A third Instagram user, meanwhile, suggested that the two friends should have “taken a step back.” [a] sit in row 18 and simply switch with the person in the original seat in row 18 so they can sit next to each other.
“I’m sure (as long as that person was alone) they would have traded for row 1,” she wrote.
But @jd_hh said it should have been up to the flight attendants to keep the peace.
“As a matter of flight security, you are not permitted to sit in 18B,” he wrote. “The flight attendant MUST maintain order and remove the person in front of you from 1A.
“Just stand your ground and stick to your guns,” he suggested.
It seems the frustrated traveler took his advice to heart, because just minutes after her first post, she posted a photo from the front row.
“You guys aren’t flying Spirit Airlines… well, I am… I’m in the front seat!” she wrote.
Oh, and later this month, Wi-Fi, non-alcoholic drinks and bags are included for a truly first-class experience.
“Very stylish, very understated,” she called the experience.
Spirit Airlines is offering four ticket levels through August 27
The budget airline announced late last month that it would offer packages for its most expensive tickets in a bid to boost revenue.
The “Go Big” tickets the traveler apparently purchased include a spot in one of the airline’s Big Front Seats, and come with free Wi-Fi, one checked bag, one carry-on bag and “unlimited” snacks and drinks. according to CNBC.
The next level is the ‘Go Comfy’ tickets, which offer passengers a seat with standard legroom, but a blocked middle seat for extra space.
Also included is an earlier boarding time, one snack, one non-alcoholic drink, checked baggage and hand luggage. The ‘Go Savvy’ tickets include either a checked bag or hand luggage.
The standard ‘Go’ tickets offer a seat only – with charges for checked baggage, carry-on baggage, seat selection, Wi-Fi and snacks.
The four-tier tickets are available for Spirit Airlines flights through August 27.
