The royal couple visited Nordre against bid in Copenhagen, where they went on board their royal ship, Dannebrog, on board for the official launch of the sailing season of 2025.
But the decision to board the powerful ship was reprimanded, as the ship said to broadcast 60 times more CO2 than the average Dane extends in one year.

The couple sail every year on board the yacht through Danish waters. This year they go on their first ‘major’ sail on 25 August for four days, but the summer cruises often have been lasting two weeks, depending on the schedule.
In 2024, their sailing trip also included travel to Sweden, Norway and Greenland.
The impact of the ship on climate change has been questioned by local royal and environment experts who have branded the move ‘disappointing and pathetic’, so that the royal house had no choice than to respond.
In a written, translated response to the Danish broadcast Corporation, the new head of the palace wrote: ‘The Royal House is aware of the dilemma associated with Dannebrog that is driven by conventional fuel.
‘[We are] Currently, the possibility of using alternative fuels is investigating with a view to reducing royal ship emissions.
‘At the same time, it is important to emphasize that Dannebrog is a historic ship with symbolic and representative significance for Denmark. It is a meeting point, regardless of where it is located in the kingdom. There is a lot of demand for the royal ship. ‘
Royal House expert Sebastian Olden-Jørgensen said BT News that it was “just a matter of time before the climate problem struck the royal house,” especially given the public dedication of the king to the environment.
“If the royal couple are able to contribute to passing on the planet to the next generation in good condition, which requires that we promote the green transition,” Koning Frederik wrote in his book ‘King’s Words’ at the start of his reign.
Before the drama struck, the royal couple was busy performing their packed schedule while moving home and to their summer residence on the banks of Lake Esrum in Fredenborg with Queen Margrethe.
They moved homes on Monday 5 May to Fredensborg Palace, where they will take a residence in the eastern wing, known as Chancellery House before the summer.
The king and the queen, together with their three youngest children Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, moved to Fredenborg Palace next to Frederik’s mother, Queen Margrethe, who had already entered the main palace.
The vast ownership on the island of Zeeland in Denmark has sufficient space for the entire royal family.
It is something of a return home for the royal couple, which lived full-time in the Chancellery of 2004-10 when he was still the crown prince and the Palace of Amelienborg in Copenhagen was refurbished.
But Royal Watchers are intrigued by the fact that former monarch queen Margrethe is staying in the main palace, while the current family of King and Queen have moved to the secondary accommodation in the Chancellor House.
Royal Expert and historian Lars Hovbakke Sørensen explained to the Danish publication from BT that it was ‘completely unproblematic’ for the current king and his family to live in the secondary residence of the palace.
The expert explained that although it may seemed unusual, Lars said that it was a ‘obvious’ result of Queen Margrethe to break down the throne in 2024, instead of going to her son after her death.
‘[W]E have a completely different situation than ever before, where we have a living, former regent, “Lars explained.
As the summer of the northern hemisphere approaches, the Danish royal family traditionally moves their home to the Palace of Fredenborg.
Frederik and Mary and Mary in Amalienborg live for most of the year with their four children-crown Prince Christian, 19, Princess Isabella, 18 and 14-year-old twins, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine.
However, Prince Christian will not come to the Royal Family in the Chancellery House this summer, while he will be stationed in the city of Slagelse as part of his mandatory military service.
