‘Squid Game’ Season 2 Teaser Brings Gi-hun Back to Deadly Action
Gruesome games and a tempting prize are back in a new teaser trailer for Squid Game Season 2.
Netflix unveiled the 45-second preview during its Geeked Week 2024 Live fan event in Atlanta on Thursday. The trailer reunites Gi-hun (Emmy winner Lee Jung-jae) with the competition he survived in Season 1 and shows new players walking into a room with two giant, multicolored circles on the floor. Season 2 premieres later this year on December 26.
In addition to Lee, season 2 will also see the return of cast members Lee Byung-hun (the frontman), Wi Ha-jun (detective Hwang Jun-ho) and Gong Yoo (the recruiter), according to Netflix’s Tudum site. Newcomers include Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae- won, Jo Yu-ri and Won Ji-an.
The first season of the South Korean thriller debuted in 2021 and saw desperate people compete in deadly children’s games for a chance to win a huge cash prize. Hwang Dong-hyuk, who won an Emmy for directing Season 1, will direct, write and executive produce Season 2. Netflix has already renewed the series for a third season, which will be its final one and is scheduled to air in 2025.
