Isis had to have her filler dissolve after one side of her lip was fuller than the other following a recent plumping appointment.

She told local media: “First we tried to shape it, because hyaluronic acid can be formed in the first days, but there was an excessive build-up of the product and it didn’t work.

“We also tried punching to squeeze it out, but we couldn’t. The last time I went, we applied hyaluronidase, which I later learned has a very strong allergic potential.’

‘I was very scared and thought ‘my God, what have I done?’ and very afraid that something worse will happen.’

Isis revealed that it took four days for her face to return to normal. She says she has no plans to have any more cosmetic procedures done anytime soon.

She explained that she decided to post images of her accident on social media to warn others about the potential risks of such procedures, but had no idea it would go viral.

She said: ‘I didn’t expect it to have such an impact. I posted it to warn people because it was very dangerous and I hadn’t seen anything about it.”

Dermatologist Camila Novak – who was not involved in the procedure – told local media that if Isis had not sought help immediately, she could have died.

She said: ‘A significant part of the population can suffer from swelling of the mucous membranes, of the lips, of the eyes, it can cause edema of the glottis, breathing narrowly, it can cause allergies throughout the body.’

WHAT IS HYALURONIDASE

Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that breaks down a substance in the body called hyaluronic acid.

Hyaluronic acid is found throughout the body in connective tissue, skin, and fluids in the joints and in the eye.

In medicine, hyaluronidase is made in the lab and given by injection under the skin along with other drugs to treat certain conditions.

Using hyaluronidase to break down hyaluronic acid helps thin the fluids and connective tissue so that the drugs can get into the tissues more easily.
