For most students, LUNCH is the best part of the day, because it’s when they finally get the chance to chat with their friends and fill their stomachs.

But one school has been shamed after a click of their canteen’s offerings shared online.

The student shared a photo of his lunch on Reddit, which many said looked more like “dead leeches” than a tasty meal.

The Florida student posted a photo of what looked like spaghetti with two pieces of sweet potato, although many people wondered what it actually was.

The student said, “My school lunch today in the US (Florida).”

Not surprisingly, many people on social media were shocked by what the school served, with some even questioning whether it was safe to eat.

One of them said, “I thought they were dead leeches.”

Another wondered what the mystery food was, writing: “I thought it was bananas and that was very disturbing.”

“What are those two black things? Beef jerky?” wrote another, before someone else suggested they were sweet potatoes.

“Damn, I thought it was a couple slices of smoked beef brisket or something,” they added.

“Jesus! Who serves sweet potatoes with pasta? It doesn’t matter that they look like dried cacao nibs,” someone else chimed in.

“It’s appalling, whatever it is. It’s just a horrible thing to do to a sweet potato,” wrote another.

The questionable comment comes after a teacher and a Redditor criticized the school cafeteria’s meals.

The teacher explained how astonished he was that he was given nothing but a small pizza and pieces of dried sweet potato for lunch.

He explained that he was standing in line for lunch and was only served a mini pizza and slices of what turned out to be sweet potato.

And he wasn’t the only one unhappy with the food, as he said many other students and teachers decided to skip lunch instead of tackling the “mysterious”

He said, “My school lunch for today. Supposedly it’s sweet potatoes.”

Another Redditor commented: “There’s nothing sweet about that.”

“After I drank one, I asked my students what they thought and they all said the same thing,” the teacher replied.

Meanwhile, someone else commented: “Wow – that’s just pathetic. I’d stand in front of the school board and tear a candy bar. Prisoners get better food than that.”

“It looks like something you would see in a gas “We arrive at the station around 10:30pm, after the food has been under the heat lamp for about eight hours,” said another.

What the NHS recommends for children’s lunches:

The NHS provides some suggestions and guidelines on their website Chnage4Life.

  • The basis of the lunch box consists of foods such as bread, rice, pasta and potatoes (preferably whole grain) to keep children feeling full for longer.
  • If your child doesn’t like whole wheat bread, try making sandwiches with one slice of white bread and one slice of whole wheat bread
  • Try to keep the lunch boxes interesting by using different shapes, such as bagels, pita breads and wraps.
  • Make eating fun, because lunch is even more fun when the child is allowed to prepare it themselves. For example, you can eat something tasty to dip in every day and it is something different than sandwiches.
  • Choose low-fat foods, such as lean meat or fish.
  • Reduce the amount of spreads you put on your sandwiches
  • Always add some salad and vegetables to the meal
  • Eat less chips
  • Cut up some fruit or peel the satsumas and add them instead of sweets
  • Cheese can be high in fat and salt, so choose the strong-flavored variety or go for the low-fat variety.
  • Involve the children in preparing lunch. They are more likely to eat it if they have helped themselves.
