‘Such insult cannot be tolerated’: BJP complains to Congress’ Bhai Jagtap over ‘dog bone’ on EC | India News – Times of India
BJP leader Kirit Somaiya filed a written complaint against Jagtap over his controversial statement and said such insult to a constitutional body cannot be tolerated.
“I have written to the Election Commission and also filed a complaint with the Mumbai Police Commissioner. Such kind of insult and humiliation of the Election Commission, which is a constitutional body, cannot be tolerated,” Somaiya said.
“Action should be taken against Bhai Jagtap. For the past two days, Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) everyone has been targeting the EVM and the Election Commission as everyone is scared of the local Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections due in March 2025.” he added.
This comes a day after Jagtap linked ECI to a dog sitting outside the Prime Minister’s residence, misusing all agencies.
“(Election Commission toh Kutta hai) The Election Commission is like a dog, behaving like a dog, sitting outside Narendra Modi ji’s bungalow. All agencies set up to strengthen our democracy have now become puppets, acting under the influence of Narendra Modi ji,” Jagtap said.
“These institutions, which were intended to protect our democracy, are unfortunately being misused. The ongoing incidents in Maharashtra and across the country show how the system is being manipulated,” he added.
Earlier, state Congress chief Nana Patole accused the EC of tampering with voter data in the recently concluded Maharashtra Assembly elections, writing to the poll body seeking to know how voter turnout increased by 7.83 percentage points after the official election time had passed.
Raising questions on EVMs, Patole said in a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer that public “sentiment” has become “extremely intense” as there is a huge “scam” in the percentage of votes in the Assembly elections.
“Doubts are being expressed from many levels about the 7.83 percent increase in votes. Looking at the voting figures published by the election commission, there must have been long lines at the polling stations after 5 p.m. on voting day. constituencies in the state, there were long queues of voters after 5 pm?” Patole stated in his letter to the apex investigative body.
