Swiggy launches UPI plug-in as faster way to make payments

Swiggy UPI was launched in India on Wednesday. The on-demand food delivery services platform has collaborated with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to roll out its UPI plug-in solution that aims to improve the payment experience by reducing the number of steps required to complete a transaction and making the entire process faster. The feature is already live on the platform and users can use it to order food and groceries delivery.

Swiggy UPI Features

According to Swiggy, the new payment method leverages NPCI’s UPI Plugin that was introduced in 2022. It eliminates the requirement for a Third Party Application Provider (TPAP) license from merchants when offering UPI services within their apps. Users can make transactions without leaving the Swiggy app, potentially minimizing payment errors that often occur when switching to third-party apps to complete the process.

Swiggy UPI feature is now available

Gadgets 360 employees were able to verify the feature’s availability in Swiggy on both Android and iOS platforms.

It is claimed to reduce the time taken to complete a UPI transaction on the platform from 15 seconds to five. Swiggy UPI also notifies the user of potential issues such as insufficient funds, incorrect login details or technical glitches – all of which can hamper the transaction. Users can then take the required actions and complete payments.

To use Swiggy UPI:

1. Open the Swiggy app on your device.
2. Navigate to the profile section by tapping the icon in the top right corner of the screen.
3. Find the Payments and Refunds option and select Payment methods from the list of options.
4. Swiggy UPI will appear at the top as a payment method. Tap on it and start the one-time registration process.
5. The mobile number is then verified by sending an SMS and all bank accounts linked to it are displayed.
6. Select the bank account you want to link and the process is complete.

After registration, users can access options like account management, transaction history, past queries and FAQ. They can also delete their account from Swiggy UPI by Unlink Swiggy UPI option at the bottom of the screen on the page.
