Sydney Trains: Urgent track works at Central Station cause chaos for commuters
Urgent track works have caused chaos among commuters and disruptions to train services on key lines.
Sydney Trains announced on Monday morning that urgent track repairs are being carried out at Central Station.
Several lines are affected, including the T9 Northern Line, T1 North Shore Line, T2 Inner West and Leppington Line and T1 Western Line.
A number of trains have been cancelled and other services have been delayed.
Shuttle trains have been introduced to transport commuters between Wynyard and Hornsby, and also between Berowra and North Sydney.
Service interruptions are expected throughout the morning.
The service delays are also affecting the T2 Inner West and South Line, the T3 Bankstown Line and the T8 Airport South Line.
Commuters express their frustrations via the social media platform X.

‘Another day, another delay. Sydney trains continue to let millions down,’ wrote one.
‘What happened to proactive repairs? No, slow reactive repairs for Sydney trains!’
Another added: ‘S***y Sydney trains always run something during peak hours.’
Another angry commuter added: ‘Hey Sydney Trains, your service stinks! How much time or money do you need to spend to improve your act for good?’
“Left early to get to work early, only now my train is stuck,” someone wrote.
“Sydney Trains is about the only company that can underperform at best and still be acceptable,” said another.
“You charge high fares for the rides but unfortunately no good maintenance. You should lower the prices to match the service,” wrote one passenger.

Sydney Trains urged passengers to allow extra travel time.
“Please allow extra travel time due to urgent track works at Central,” a warning read.
‘Services may be less frequent, journeys may take longer than normal and stops may be changed at short notice.
Check transportation apps, information screens and listen to announcements.
The urgent repairs are expected to be completed by Monday afternoon.
Commuters are being asked to consider other forms of transportation, such as bus services.
