Kate Garraway was overcome with emotion as she opened up about her latest documentary following the death of her husband Derek Draper.

The presenter, 56, will explore the final year of her husband’s life, as he struggled with long-term symptoms of coronavirus and required daily care, in a new film titled Kate Garraway: Derek’s Story.

And as the documentary aired next Tuesday, Kate discussed how it feels to have completed the project, as she confessed it was “quite emotional” working on it.

Kate admitted she spoke to co-host Ed Balls on Thursday’s episode of Good Morning Britain “I can’t quite believe” that Derek, who died in January, is not with her to “watch his story.”

‘It was actually quite emotional. It makes you want to jump into the screen and give him a hug.

“You can’t quite believe he’s not with us to watch his story. But hopefully it will be very helpful to others going through the same thing. That is the dream and the wish.’

After viewers watched a trailer for the program earlier this week, Ed added: ‘It was very moving to hear him speak [that] clip we played a few days ago. Because at At the same time there is vulnerability, but it is also absolutely the Derek I have known for thirty years.’

Kate agreed and continued: ‘You’re right, there is vulnerability, vulnerability, obviously deep ill-health and damage, but yes, he was his own man to the end.’

The mother of two also explained that it was Derek’s decision to make the latest documentary, in the hope that it will provide a lot of help to those who are also suffering from long-term illness.

She explained: ‘It was his idea to make this and his story, so hopefully, as I said, when it airs next Tuesday it will be of great help to a lot of people who find themselves in the situation that Derek is in with a long-term illness and those around them who care for them, as well as the healthcare professionals.’

Ed added, “I can’t imagine how hard it is to do this, but I think it’s really important that you did it.”

Kate replied: ‘I hope so, I hope people see it that way. Thanks Ed.’

Kate previously described the impact of caring for her husband, who died in January aged 56, in two other ITV documentaries entitled Finding Derek and Caring For Derek.

When asked why he wanted to participate in this film, Derek previously said: ‘I want to be heard.’

Kate said she “vividly” remembers that the idea for the third documentary came from Derek, who said he wanted the main message to be “never give up fighting for what you believe in and for the people you love.” .

“I wasn’t planning on making another one,” Kate said.

“We had to find a way to make Derek’s voice heard and although it was so hard to finish it without him, I’m thrilled that the film is a tribute to Derek and his incredible spirit,” said Kate.

“It is also a tribute to all those who continue to fight to make every second of their lives count, no matter what is thrown at them.”

Keshav Maharaj’s Lucknow Super Giants will play their opening match against Rajasthan Royals on March 24.

New Delhi: Lucknow Super Giants spinner Keshav Maharaj has visited Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. LSG will play their opening match against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. “Unfortunately, schedule did not allow me to visit during the temple dedication. But in the future I would definitely like to visit the temple in Ayodhya.”

CHANCELLOR Jeremy Hunt raised hopes of tax cuts before the election yesterday after inflation fell to its lowest level in two years.

He said the drop “opens the door” to lower interest rates, which would make mortgages cheaper.

And he said this could mean the opportunity to “stimulate growth and make work pay” by cutting national insurance rates.

It will be welcome news for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, under pressure amid speculation of a challenge to his leadership.

At a meeting of the 1922 Committee last night, Mr Sunak urged backstabbing Tory MPs to work together and dismissed “Westminster gossip” about conspiracies.

Supporters greeted him by banging tables and described his speech as “uplifting”.

Mr Sunak also told the BBC that he would still be Prime Minister after the May 2 local elections, saying that “2024 will prove to be the year the economy recovers”.

Inflation fell from 4 percent to a better-than-expected 3.4 percent as the costs of buying food and eating out fell.

Mr Hunt, who cut the NI rate by 4p, said: “As inflation gets closer to its level goalThat opens the door for the Bank of England to consider cutting interest rates, that brings mortgage rates down, that makes a big difference.

The outing comes after an interesting past week for Pip.

Last week, Pim and PE Nation founder Claire Greaves officially parted ways after more than a decade together.

The friends, who have recently been hit by rumors of a split, co-founded the athleisure brand in Sydney in 2015 and have since turned it into a thriving global business.

However, Claire has now stepped back from running the label, while Pip will continue to run the brand solo.

This move marks the end of one of the most enduring relationships in Australian fashion and represents a huge change for the popular streetwear brand.

Claire – who split from her husband, filmmaker Timothy Tregoning, in 2022 – will now “pursue other creative endeavors” as she takes her career in a new direction.

The brand confirmed the news in a statement to the Daily telegramwhich said: ‘After ten years leading PE Nation with friend and co-founder Pip Edwards, Claire Greaves has made the decision to step down from the day-to-day running of the business.

“Claire will remain on the board and maintain her shareholding as the company continues to thrive in the highly creative, visionary hands of Pip Edwards at the helm, together with the board of directors.

‘The company has secured and developed an extremely strong product and design team.

“Pip and the company fully support Claire’s transition to pursue other creative endeavors and wish her all the best in her next chapter.”

Shortly after the news broke, Pip confirmed on Instagram that PE Nation is now a B Corp certified company as she announced the exciting news for the brand.

B Corps are companies that meet high standards of social environmental performance and transparency, and Pip detailed the two-year journey to achieving the certification.

Alongside photos of herself standing solo in front of PE Nation signs, she wrote: “PE Nation was born out of a love for an active life. A lifestyle that thrives in the outdoors of our urban coastal environment. We love connecting people and communities and shaping the way we feel and move.

‘Personally, I have a deep innate love and appreciation for our Earth and the ocean, and I understand that this ultimately sets the context for how we can live and feel good. It is from our landscape that I find great peace and inspiration on a daily basis, so naturally @penation embarked on a conscious journey to commit to honoring, respecting, and restoring the planet while still doing business.

Before launching PE Nation together, the pair worked together two years earlier after meeting at Australian designer Sass & Bide.

Pip and Claire then turned their luxury activewear label into an international brand sold by 600 individual retailers in 95 countries, creating a host of celebrity clients.

But last year Pip was forced to deny rumors of a falling out with Claire after her office was cleared out and turned into a ‘creative space’ following a months-long absence.

Daily Mail Australia revealed rumors were swirling that the deep friendship at the heart of the business may have crumbled after a luxury trip.

A source with knowledge of the company’s internal dealings claimed at the time: ‘Pip and Claire have had a falling out.’

The source said Claire took a month off in December 2022, extended her break for another month in January and then opted for another three months of leave.

However, a PE Nation spokeswoman subsequently denied the pair had an argument and insisted they did remain ‘dedicated and collaborative business partners’.

“Claire is taking well-deserved time off and remains an important part of PE Nation,” the spokeswoman said at the time. “(She) is taking a well-deserved sabbatical for a few months.”

Claire reiterated the message when approached for comment, adding: ‘The company and Pip have both been huge supporters of my sabbatical and I am grateful to have this time off with my family.’

In December 2022, Claire announced the launch of her new luxury accommodation venture in Byron Bay called ‘Sun Ranch’.

“I’m feeling really itchy and excited about the unveiling of this new project that me and my amazing friends have been working on,” she wrote on Instagram at the time.

“Sun Ranch is a 1970s-inspired, offbeat luxury 55-acre estate,” according to the Instagram page.

‘An ultra-chic guest house with five rooms and six epic barns. Abundant with unpretentious good times. Coming in 2023.”

Her work stoppage followed a period of turmoil in her life during which she quietly parted ways with her husband Timothy in mid-2022 after 11 years of marriage.
