Whenever I eat at a restaurant with a tasting menu – which is several times a month and would be several times a week if I reviewed them all – I wonder how I would feel about the same food if a normal restaurant served it. If I order à la carte, does everything taste equally good? Would my check be lower? Would I still feel like I swallowed a couch cushion?

The closest I’ve come to answering these questions is eating at Dirty witch, a five-month-old East Village Italian restaurant owned by two of the founders of Roberta’s and Blanca. Roberta’s, of course, is the Bushwick restaurant known for its artfully charred pizzas, its Tiki Disco parties, and the radio station that broadcasts programs about eating food from its backyard. Blanca is a 12-seat bunker in the same backyard that has been closed since the start of the pandemic. Inside, the compound’s swirling rock festival atmosphere gave way to the disciplined creativity of tasting menus that lasted nearly 30 courses and cost $200 or more.

Under the direction of Carlo Mirarchi, the chef and one of the owners, Blanca’s kitchen put together two or three bite dishes that were often stunning, both for the quality of their main ingredients and for the unexpected twists the kitchen gave them. Agnolotti would burst with molten taleggio turned green-black from pulverized phytoplankton that tasted like the bottom of the ocean. Dry-aged duck breast would be slowly grilled over Japanese charcoal and served with beetroot mole as earthy and smoky as an underground fire.

There are plans to open Blanca again one day; meanwhile, a bit of his spirit lives on in Foul Witch. The first incarnation was Foul Witch by Blanca, a sit-down restaurant that Mr. Mirarchi and Brandon Hoy, his business partner, ran for four days. the Frisian art fair in New York in 2018. Foul Witch then went to sleep. When it woke up, in January, it was on Avenue A.

The name comes from a line-in the 1985 cult fantasy film “Legend” (and for that some play “The Tempest”). According to the restaurant’s website“Foul Witch offers haunting Italian cuisine and an uninhibited natural wine list in an intimate Gothic setting.”

The narrow restaurant doesn’t look particularly Gothic, save for the alternating colors cast by a jellyfish lamp at the end of the bar and some silhouettes on the kitchen wall that may or may not represent goat heads. But often, under Sam Pollheimer, the chef de cuisine, the cooking evokes the spirit of the older restaurant, in a simpler, streamlined way.

The agnolotti bleeding black blood return in a much less ghostly form, this time with more taleggio than plankton; tossed with tender English peas, asparagus juice and chive blossoms, they didn’t conjure up any frightening visions at all, unless you dread cottage gardens in the Cotswolds.

Always served in primi portions, the pasta at Foul Witch is usually a bit quirky, sometimes in a way you might want to quibble with. I wish the pasta sheets used to make veal tortillas were rolled a bit thinner; the creamy filling of whipped sweetbreads would have been even more impressive than it already was.

But the spaccatelli (another name for strozzapreti) with a sauté of “old game bird” (squab and duck) helped me remember how much flavor Blanca used to get out of his dry-aged meat. The dish also taught me a new ingredient: red walnuts. Sliced into the ragù, they were sweeter and softer than typical walnuts, and along with shaved Parmigiano-Reggiano, compensated for the intensity that aging had imparted to the meat.

There’s also a far-reaching flavor in the duck prosciutto. It is made in the restaurant, just like the testa, which is served on a preheated plate and melts into a deliciously oozing mass of soft pink meat and softer white fat. You may want to spread it – or rather pour it, since it’s almost runny – over some Foul Witch focaccia or Roberta’s bread. These two are a study in opposites; the crusty, chewy bread requires some effort from your jaw, while the tender focaccia almost dissolves on your tongue. They’re both very good, one of the benefits of eating on a branch of the Roberta’s family tree.

You can see the flames in the wood-burning oven from most places in the dining room. This is used to prepare most main dishes and they get a distinctive rustic flavor from the smoke and high heat. A whole roasted John Dory has been on the menu lately; compared to the whole fish you’re likely to find in downtown Italian restaurants, John Dory is so much sweeter and better, you can’t believe it’s not served more often. Foul Witch hangs it by its tail next to the oven to dispel the cold from the refrigerator before sliding it into the oven. Then clams are added to the pan, almost too small to eat but full of juices that turn into a delicious broth of green garlic and olive oil.

You don’t often see whole fish on a tasting menu; it’s too big, too bony, too cluttered. My group of four happily ripped into it.

The kitchen has a charcoal grill when he needs to direct the heat more precisely. For example, it is used to sear a grilled pork collar, almost as red as sirloin steak and laced with fennel pollen.

For dessert, Foul Witch has a plate of sliced citrus fruits. I’ve had it with tangerines and Kishu tangerines, all with the skin still on. They are dressed with olive oil and carrot juice, then sprinkled with salt, toasted breadcrumbs and serrano pepper. This might as well be a salad. Either way, it’s as challenging as it is rewarding. You won’t confuse it with a dish served elsewhere.

Foul Witch is not a cheap restaurant, but the a la carte menu makes it more flexible than Blanca. The meal left me with two competing desires. I wish I could go to Blanca again. But I also wish more restaurants with tasting menus in New York would open a place like Foul Witch. Too many good ideas are locked up in little rooms where too few people can experience them.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has announced his candidacy as president of EE. UU. It is not possible to send a message to a direct Twitter transmission, which leads to technical problems and another declaración engañosa.

A follow-up, verify the data which includes a number of statements.

“Biden también politizó al ejército e hizo que se desplomara el reclutamiento”.

No hay suficiente evidence de esto. To the recentes, the armies of military who advertised that several ramas of the las fuerzas were armadas who had problems solving alcanzar, pero los motivos que citaron tienen poco que ver con el presidente Joe Biden. In particular, many young people are simple and don’t cumplen with the requirements.

A Pentagon 2020 studio Discover that you are alone on January 23 between the ages of 17 and 24, along with the military military service, and you have many questions about the entrance exams of the financial institutions and the mental health of the ejército. This is an indication of some points in the comparison with the studio anterior of 2017.

In April, the military forces begin to break away from the problems of the reclutamiento and an audience for the congress and later the problem is always constant.

“The complicating panorama of the reclutamiento that is not successful in a year and a year later there is a large part of a rehabilitation center,” said Christine Wormuth, secretariat of the ejército.

Wormuth también indicó que a encuesta del Pentagono les preguntó a 2400 personas de entre 16 en 28 años sobre los obstáculos that are predominantly for alistarse. Los encuestados el temor a leasionarse ya morir como the preoccupación principal, mientras que temas culturales and políticos -como las “ideas progresistas del ejército or la obligatoryad of la vacuna contra la COVID-19 – estaban más abajo and la lista de barreras para servir en el ejército”, puntualizó.

“To Florida, now it’s delincuencia and it’s been over 50 years. If there are 25 cities with mayor delincuencia in Estados Unidos, verán que las de Florida no están between las primeras 25”.

And big medida, it’s green. In 2021, the tasa de delincuencia del estado sí disminuyó a un punto minimo que no se había visto desde hace 50 años, pero DeSantis failed to save a major: many agencias of public order in the state cambiaron a a metodología distinta de presentación de informés and, in many cases, the provisional and incomplete data of the son, Read more The Tampa Bay Times.

In 2021, use the data from only the 59 of Florida’s agencies that have the población’s 57.5 to generate the total agregada of delincuencia in the state.

“It’s likely you’ve generated a Disney como yo after that time to eat during the pandemic. Y en California estuvieron cerrados y se quedaron así durante muchos muchos meses en los que, literally, yo mantuve abiertos todos los parques temáticos en Florida in 2020”.

It’s an exaggeration. Disney World in Florida officially opened on March 15, 2020 and other Disney theme parks in the world. Reabrió sus puertas en julio, tras cuatro meses. All Disney tourist attractions in Paris, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Tokyo have come through in 2020 over the years. Disneyland and California on April 30, 2021over a year of age, most of Disney’s vacation centers have permit status that the theme parks volvier en recibir visitantes.

DeSantis también is minimisando sus acciones durante la pandemia del coronavirus. Issued April 1, 2020 en la que exhortaba a todos los residentes de Florida a “limitar sus movimientos e interacciones personales fuera del hogar solo los necesarios”. If there is no cerró explícitamente los parques temáticos, limit your apertura and services and activities esenciales and ban gatherings of more than 10 personas. Order the 1 mayonnaise.

“Todo lo de la prohibición de libros es un engaño. It is not illegal to use a solo book in the state of Florida. Puedes comprar o usar cualquier libro que quieras”.

Esta confirmation is enabled. There is no ban on any book in particular, pero DeSantis has been kept to a minimum for many of the various books and the individual library volumes of existing catalogs. The hecho, Florida is the second state of Texas, with the number of mayors banned, 357, share PEN Americaan organization without fines that ensures freedom of expression.

The legislation established DeSantis para limitar las conversaciones en las aulas sobre the orientación sexual, the identity of the general and most people have several professors and administrators with pension rights of las escuelas. The propia oficina de prensa de DeSantis has stated that “los distritos escolares inform de cantidad de libros retirados de las escuelas según la legislación aprobada in 2022”. The official information indicates that there are 175 libros in the state.

Among the libros that are in the states of Florida, there is one libro ilustrado sobre dos pinguinos machos que cuidan a una cría, Ojos azules de Toni Morrison y El cuento de la criada the Margaret Atwood.

Look

“In reality, this is a week in which Miami-Dade’s condado wrote a libro sobre poem like Biden’s toma de posesión, creo, y lo trasladaron de la biblioteca de la escuela primaria a la biblioteca del bachillerato.”

This requires context. El Centro Educativo Bob Graham, que enseña a estudiantes desde prekínder hasta octavo grade in the condado de Miami-Dade, trasladó en the centro de medios de la escuela el puma La colina que ascendemos by Amanda Gorman from the first part of the bachelor to the second part of the bachelor’s degree.

DeSantis alegó que esto no constituía una prohibición, ya que el libro no había sido removido por completo. Without embargo, access is limited.

A portavoz del distrito escolar confirmed that the freshmen read the poem, or another libro considered solo propiado for mayors, deberán demonstrated that they were learning a new level of bachillerato. On the contrary, the book is not available to the best students.

Según la Asociación Estadounidense de Bibliotecas, with restrictions on bookings and recursos “basadas únicamente en the edad cronológica” de los usuarios violan su declaración derechos de la biblioteca. The librarian “no recurrent restrictions of edad and an esfuerzo for evitar objeciones reales or anticipadas,” the association declares.

“Revertiría lo que está haciendo Biden. Know what the frontera is. There are no concerns about the nature of a cruzan de forma legal”.

Esto es enganoso. Los presidentes have no easy way to counter the process of all the concerns of the asylum and the position of the migrants at the front of the country, as they came forward in advance. Además, El Gobierno de Biden en realidad ha impuesto nuevas restrictiones al asilo que en esencia se linen con lo que sugirió DeSantis: a partir del 11 de Mayo, in general, assume that the immigrants legally formally entered in Estados Unidos no califican para el asiloan exception to this is an exception.

It is possible that your predecessor’s intentions, apart from Biden, are to prevent the frontera from imposing unlawful impediments to legal proceedings and impediments.

For the Trump Governor, Estados Unidos no podía legalmente a los migrantes que buscaban asilo, incluso si cruzaban la frontera de forma legal, sin processar sus solicitudes. In 2018, Trump’s gobierno reformed the asylum and now announced that the migrant ban has been outlawed. Immediately, the Supreme Court outlaws the politics in force and power of a tribunal of impeachment, ultimately, dictum illegal for a time.

On the Trump administration, which was announced in 2019, the asylum seeker was rejected by migrants coming from home by other countries and not Habsburg asylum seekers. Un tribunal de apelaciones anuló esa regla in 2020.

As of 2020, Trump’s gobierno has made use of Title 42, a way to show the public that the gobierno has been quickly plotted and the personas cruzan de forma are legal. Biden went back to politics on May 11, retiring from denoting a crisis of public life and using Title 42.

Look

“If you are president, no vamos can set up a central digital bank. Creo que eso sería un huge, huge imposición sobre las libertades financieras y la privacidad financiera de las personas. Or, what does the result look like? If this is the authoritarian central oversight, it is important that you impose ESG criteria”.

Take care of the pruebas. A digital currency of the banco central sería, en efecto, the digital version of a dollar banknote. La Reserva Federal has been investigating us, pero I have stated that I have not decided to spend my money y que solo lo haría con el apoyo del Congreso. DeSantis is an especulando, without factual basis, that the gobierno usaría de moneda digital para control or limit the gas consumption of consumers para linerse with objetivos ambientales and social como frenar the consumption of combustible fósiles or intense control of the weapon.

And a hoja information, the Federal Reserve has a digital digital protection of consumer privacy and not a replacement for the current format of the diner. Además, several banking experts le dijeron a PolitiFact It is possible that the guest’s vigilance and checks have been prohibited by DeSantis’ advisor.
