She wouldn’t leave the house without these, which include a $7 eyeliner, a glow powder, and an oil control must-have.

NARS EDA BRUSH

First up was a makeup brush used by professionals.

“This NARS EDA brush makes powder contouring so easy on the nose,” she said.

This was a comforting presence from Ulta, $6.99, in her makeup bag.

“Even as a makeup artist, there is nothing I fear more than applying wing eyeliner to a client,” she wrote.

“So if I can use something that makes it that easy, that simple, that quick, then I will.

“This is LA Girl’s liquid eyeliner. I use this on a client, just do a wing and it goes super fast with a felt tip pen. It makes my life so much easier.”

“I’ve been using this powder for years and I can’t do makeup without it,” she wrote.

BRIDES will break tradition in 2024 by opting for not one, but two dresses.

They get the best of both worlds by having an outfit changed halfway through the wedding.

Usually after dinner, and before the evening guests arrive, a newlywed couple will change to something more comfortable for partying.

From short options to modest cocktail dresses, the two-dress trend is becoming increasingly popular.

She said: “Not only is this a fun way to surprise guests, but it also allows couples to diversify their wedding photos. In 2024, grooms may even follow suit and ditch their accessories for something less formal.”

HOOK UP THE SKIRTS

SHORT dresses were a big hit on The Scottish Wedding Show's October catwalk and Tsitsi says more and more bridal boutiques are offering shorter styles to meet demand.

With traditional celebrations and more unique weddings taking place, the short wedding dress is becoming increasingly popular.

Esteemed designers, like Berta, are showcasing shorter styles as brides look to make a statement with their outfit.

Tsitsi said: “We are also seeing a rise in the short dress with detachable overskirt, giving brides the opportunity to add dramatic flair to photos and then wear shorts for the party.”

BRIGHT NOT WHITE

As unique weddings become more popular, Tsitsi has seen a shift in the traditions typically associated with Scottish weddings – especially when it comes to colour.

White and ivory dresses are no longer a given, as more and more designers are offering pastel options.

And even bold colors are expected to be popular, in line with current maximalist trends in the 2024 ceremonies.

Tsitsi said: “Scottish boutiques such as Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo Bridal Boutique and Joyce Young Design Studios offer alternative dresses in a variety of colors and patterns, allowing brides to express themselves through their wedding attire.”

Be brave

TSISI predicts that accessories will have a moment this year with brides placing more importance on adding a unique touch to their big day.

Dramatic headbands, pearl-embellished veils, elegant gloves and retro sunglasses are expected to be hugely popular in 2024.

And Tsitsi notes that brides will use these to add personality to their wedding.

She added: “They are also a brilliant way for brides to make use of their wedding attire as accessories such as sunglasses, headbands and trendy bags can be reused and will serve as a reminder of their special day.

STAR POWER

MORE couples are taking inspiration from celebrity weddings as TikTok has made the extravagant celebrations viral.

From Sofia Richie's star-studded bash to Jamie Laing's to Sophie Habboo's ceremony in London, brides' feeds have been flooded with wedding inspiration, with many choosing to emulate the celebrity look.

Tsitsi said: “The stunning Vivienne Westwood dress worn by Sophie Habboo has proven hugely popular with Scottish brides and those wanting to get their hands on this look are in luck as the exact dress is stocked by Rachel Scott Couture, exhibitor of the Scottish Wedding Show.”

STATEMENT bows are making a comeback in 2024 and this hyper-feminine look is expected to feature in many wedding styles this year.

From small bows on headpieces and shoes to oversized bows on dresses, this is a trend that shows no signs of slowing down.

Tsitsi said: “Pinterest Predicts stated that Millennials and Gen Z are the ones most likely to embrace the 'bow stacking' trend, so it's clear this will trickle down into weddings as these age groups tie the knot (or bow) in 2024 !). ”

A second bridal shop collapsed this week, with the owner saying they had no choice but to declare bankruptcy.

Adelaide-based retailer Bridal Fusion by Mascia announced on Thursday afternoon that it would be holding a liquidation sale.

“Bridal fusion by Mascia liquidation sale has now started,” the post on social media reads.

Over 700 dresses and accessories ready for liquidation! Also fixtures and fittings for sale as priced.’

Dresses sell for as little as $100, $200, or $300, while some dresses originally retailed for $8,000.

The company was operated under a one-man registration by Mascia Paradiso.

Customers mourned the company’s demise.

“Absolutely gorgeous dresses, absolutely too bad you are also closing such a lovely person,” one wrote.

Mrs Paradiso told news.com.au she had filed for bankruptcy due to a combination of factors that made her “just couldn’t keep it up.”

“The case is closed, we are getting rid of the stock,” said the mother.

“Due to Covid and a failed marriage, storms and many external issues as well as personal stress and issues, I have decided to go bankrupt.”

Ms. Paradiso said if not everything is sold by July 30, she will donate whatever is left.

“I’m also getting rid of mirrors, fixtures, fittings, gothic lounge. Everything you see has to go,” she said.

On Facebook, Bridal Fusion by Mascia has over 7,000 followers and a 4.7 out of 5 star rating.

The company has been in business since 2016, but had been closed since February.

At the time of closing, Ms. Paradiso was the sole employee, although the retailer employed nine peak staff at one point.

On Monday, another wedding specialist, The Bridal Atelier, which had stores in Sydney and Melbourne, also went bankrupt, leaving hundreds of brides-to-be in the lurch.

Georgia Schroeder, the company’s retail and operations manager, said in a lengthy LinkedIn post Monday that she was a “broken woman.”

Since the closure, she has received “hundreds” of calls from devastated brides-to-be “crying and begging” about their dresses and the loss of money.

“The past few days have been the toughest I’ve ever experienced, both professionally and personally,” she wrote.

‘Being hired as the new Retail and Operations manager at the Bridal Atelier was a dream come true. Or so I thought…

“After less than two months in this role, I received a text on Friday that the company was closing — effective immediately.”

Ms Schroeder claimed the shop owner ‘unplugged her phone’, forcing her to answer hundreds of calls from brides desperate for answers.

She said hundreds, if not thousands, of brides were left without a dress.

“They don’t have a website, they don’t have social media, and they haven’t communicated to any bride that they’re closing or that they’re going to pick up dresses that have been paid for in full,” she said.

“They haven’t advertised anywhere that they’re closing.”

Hundreds of Australian brides have continued to ‘beg’ for their wedding dress after a popular bridal boutique abruptly closed its doors.

The boutique, which specializes in bohemian-style dresses, will now be managed by joint liquidators Mark William Pearce and Michael Dullaway.

TikToker ‘party girlclauds’ who describe themselves as ‘your wedding bestie’ urged those involved to file a claim with Fair Trading and the ACCC as soon as possible and contact their designer to see if they could help.

She said hundreds, if not thousands, of brides were left without a dress.

Several brides-to-be shared their experiences with the boutique in the comments.

‘Devastating! I am waiting for 2x dresses paid in full,” wrote a second.

A third said: ‘This happened to me. I was supposed to receive my dress in the first week of May and I’ve been chasing them ever since. My heart is broken.’

Ms Schroeder commented on the video: ‘I am gutted and cannot apologize enough to those affected. Please get in touch.’

Anna Campbell, one of the brands that stocks the boutique, encouraged brides who had recently ordered a dress from them to get in touch.

“We are devastated to hear of the sudden and heartbreaking closure of our Sydney store, ‘The Bridal Atelier’,” the brand wrote on Facebook.

“Even in these uncertain times, you, our bride, are our number one priority and focus. You can rest assured that we remain committed to delivering on our commitment to you and will ensure that the highest level of service and care is provided every step of your remaining honeymoon.”
