Danielle Brooks found a creative way to convey that she’s making history at the 2024 Oscars.

The 34-year-old actress graced the red carpet on Sunday, March 10, with “26” on her nails. The number marks her as the 26th Black woman ever nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Oscars.

Brooks wore the sentimentally detailed nails with a strapless black Dolce and Gabbana dress with a corset-like top, a deep thigh slit and a long train that flared out to the side.

She wore her shoulder-length hair down and parted to the side. For glam, she wore black winged eyeliner, long lashes and dewy foundation.

Brooks is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The color purple. She has been nominated along with four other actresses including Emily Blunt for her role Oppenheimer, America Ferrera for her role Barbie, Jodie Foster for her share Nyad And Da’Vine Joy Randolph for her role The survivors.

The color purple tells the moving story of Celie (Fantasy Barrino), a black woman in the early 20th century American South, who overcomes oppression and abuse to find her voice and self-worth. Brooks plays Sofia, Celie’s assertive and resilient sister-in-law.

The color purple was surprisingly rejected at the Oscars this year. Brooks is the only actor from the film to be nominated for an Oscar, and the film itself received no nominations.

In an interview of Entertainment tonight published on February 12, Brooks revealed how she feels about her nomination in light of this fact.

“We can’t predict what will happen, but this would be a huge victory, not just for me, but for all the people involved [in the movie],” Brooks told the publication, adding, “I’m super humbled, but there are so many people I want this for — especially because The color purple left such a mark on American cinema that I think it deserves.”

The event, which celebrates the women, nonbinary and trans people nominated at the Academy Awards, coincided with International Women’s Day on March 8. 

Garth Brooks will star in an upcoming Amazon docuseries about opening a bar and honky-tonk in the country music capital of Nashville.

The 62-year-old music icon started the business venture with his second wife and compatriot Trisha Yearwood.

Trisha and Garth’s new bar is named after his 1990 single Friends In Low Places, which has become one of his best-loved songs.

A new trailer for the Amazon docu-series, which will itself be called Friends In Low Places – The Best of The Best, was released on Wednesday.

Over the course of the sneak peek, Garth explained the type of atmosphere he hopes to provide for his fans entering the nightclub.

“When you walk into Friends at Low Places Bar & Honky-Tonk, you’re in that stadium show, you’re in that dive bar,” he said in his inimitable voice.

“But try to remember, at the Friends in Low Places Bar & Honky-Tonk there’s the construction of it, but there’s also the construction of the entertainment because that’s what a bar and honky-tonk is,” the crooner added .

“At the same time, these people who come to a Garth Brooks place expect what they see at a Garth Brooks concert,” he noted.

“And so you bring in the best of the best, which happens to be the family you’ve traveled the world with for the past thirty years.”

Footage was played showing Garth and Trisha strolling backstage hand-in-hand during one of their stadium shows, flanked by entourage.

Although their bar has been open since November, it will have a grand reopening on March 7, the day their show promoting it drops on Amazon Prime.

The location became embroiled in controversy last year when Garth noted to Billboard that “every brand of beer” would be available there.

His comment was a reference to the then-still fierce backlash against Bud Light, sparked by the brand’s disastrous ad campaign featuring trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

Garth’s compatriot Kid Rock caused a massive conservative boycott of the beer, causing sales to plummet dramatically.

After decades of being the best-selling beer brand in America, Bud Light was knocked out of the top spot by Modelo Especial.

As the scandal continued, Garth waded into the fray as he gave a wide-ranging on-stage interview for Billboard Country Live in Nashville.

“I know this sounds corny,” he said of his bar. “I want it to be the Chick-fil-A of honky-tonks…. I want it to be a place where you feel safe, I want it to be a place where you feel like there are good manners and people are alike.”

To drive home the thrust of his point, he added, “And yes, we are going to serve every brand of beer. That’s just us. It’s not our decision.’

Garth stated, “This is our thing, if that’s what you want [are let] in this house, love one another. If you’re an asshole, there’s plenty of other places on Lower Broadway.”

He was roundly mocked for his statements, including by Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz, and there were also calls to boycott Garth.

Garth gave a public response to the backlash against a Facebook livestreama paean to the virtues of diversity.

‘Inclusivity will always remain with me. I think diversity is the answer to the problems that exist and the answer to the problems that are yet to come. So I like diversity, all inclusive, everyone is welcome,” he said.

“I understand this may not be other people’s opinions, but that’s okay, man. They have their opinions, they have their beliefs, I have mine.”

Garth argued, “Second, let’s talk about the profession of bar owner. I’m a bar owner now. Are we going to have the most popular beers in the thing? Yes. It’s not our decision whether we do it or not, it’s the decision of the customers, the bosses.’

He noted, “If they don’t want it, I have to go to the distributors and say, man, your stuff isn’t selling, and then action will be taken.”

Putting the onus on his customers, he said: ‘But the truth is, it’s the people in those seats who make the decisions and that’s what Friends in Low Places will be.’

He encouraged partygoers who patronize his establishment to “come in with love… tolerance, patience, come in with an open mind.”

Garth continued, “If you’re one of those people who just can’t do that, I understand. If you’re ever one of those people who wants to try it, come on, let’s have some fun.”

Hailee Steinfeld put on a classy display with radiant Fantasia Barrino and chic Danielle Brooks as they led stars at Hollywood Creative Alliance’s 7th Annual Astra Film Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday. 

The True Grit actress, 27 – who is currently dating NFL star Josh Allen – joined The Color Purple stars Barrino, 39, and Brooks, 34, as well as other celebrities on the glitzy red carpet. 

The star-studded ceremony took place at the historic Biltmore Hotel in the heart of the city and was hosted by comedian, Jimmy O. Yang. 

Steinfeld – who was the recipient of Best Voice-Over for Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse – stunned wearing a black dress that contained a sheer skirt that fell down past her ankles. 

She layered the classy look with a black blazer which was buttoned at the front and also opted for closed-toed, black heels.  

Her hair was parted in the middle and pulled back into a low up do which was tied with black ribbon. 

The beauty added a pair of silver-hooped earring but chose to not add any other flashy pieces of jewelry to the look.  

Fantasia turned heads sporting a vibrant, one-shoulder orange gown that flowed down to pool around the songstress. Bunched fabric could be seen on her left shoulder for a dramatic effect.

A typical day out Kelly Kruger Brooks‘Life begins with a wake-up call from her two daughters.

“We start every day with a good hug and talk before breakfast about what we are grateful for,” the 41-year-old actress shares exclusively in the latest issue of We weekly. (Kruger Brooks shares daughters Everleigh, 4, and Gemma, 22 months, with husband Darin Brooks.)

Kruger Brooks continues her morning routine at the gym with a Lagree workout. “It’s the only workout I’ve done consistently that never bores me,” she explains of the high-intensity training method. “There’s so much to focus on, and it’s the only time I give my thoughts a break. I do light cardio and strength training [other] to dawn.”

After a packed schedule of cooking, reading scripts and work meetings for her essential oils company Madison Charles, Kruger Brooks ends her day watching TV with her husband and their dog Chance.

The glitterati came out in force for the NGV Gala 2023 at the National Gallery of Victoria on Saturday. 

Leading the charge was Liam Hemsworth, who was joined by his glamorous girlfriend Gabriella Brooks. 

The Hunger Games star looked dapper in a slick black suit that accentuated his broad shoulders. 

He had his blonde hair perfectly slicked back and had trimmed his facial hair to ensure that he looked smart and respectable for the occasion. 

Gabriella looked chic in a blue satin gown which was casually draped around her slender frame. 

The 27-year-old slicked her dark blonde hair back into a tight bun and kept her makeup minimal. 

At one point, she gazed adoringly up at her strapping boyfriend as they posed for photos.

Former MasterChef Australia judge Melissa Leong was impossible to miss in a dramatic red gown.

Looking almost unrecognisable compared to her usual self, the 41-year-old appeared to have dyed her brunette hair a chestnut brown. 

Meanwhile, model Jessica Gomes went for a much simpler look compared to some of the extravagant gowns on display.

The Sports Illustrated stunner showcased her incredible figure in a racy black cocktail dress that featured bold cut-outs across the torso. 

She had her brunette hair pulled back in a tight, sleek bun, and accessorised with some expensive diamond earrings. 

Jessica completed her look with a pain of pointed black heels with rhinestone straps.  

The beauty made sure that she worked the camera from every angle as she posed up a storm by the media wall.  

Australian supermodel Bambi Northwood-Blyth was the picture of simple elegance on the night.

The 32-year-old sparkled in a little black dress that featured floral diamond embellishments all over. 

She accessorised with some minimal diamond jewellery, including a necklace and a bracelet.  

Bringing some romance to the event was none other than Maria Thattil and her girlfriend Moana Hope.

The Miss Universe Australia 2020 flashed her abs in an oversized cream skirt and matching crop top. 

She added a pair of teardrop statement earrings and opted for a clean and bronzed makeup look with a plum lipstick.  

Her Australian Survivor star girlfriend Moana went for a more masculine look by donning a stylish pair of black trousers with a matching blazer and white top. 

Tony Armstrong and his girlfriend Rona Glynn-McDonald went for high glamour with Tony in a chic suit with a blazer that featured some glittering threads.

The sleeveless number included a black bust, which she matched to her sheer, opera length gloves.

Also turning heads was artist Agnieszka Pilat who glittered in a gold halterneck gown with cutouts that showed off a hint of skin.

She added a pair of cream patent heels in a pointed design and completed the ensemble paired with a fur shawl.

Aurelia St Clair also went the metallic route, choosing a daring dress that showed off lots of bust. 

The comedian and writer added to the look with futuristic earrings and a pair of black pointed heels. 

Emma Lewisham was classic in black, choosing a slinky number with a deep V-neck design that showed off some skin.

The skincare maven added a diamond choker and carried a small patent designer purse, finishing the look with open-toed heels. 

Society couple Jaimee Belle Kennedy and James Kennedy made it a date night, each opting for high fashion black ensembles. 

Jaimee stunned in a plunging silk gown which she paired with a dramatic feather boa, and she carried a mini Chanel purse. 

Chief executive of the Melbourne Fashion Festival Caroline Ralphsmith brought the drama in a stunning tulle gown in graduating tones of blue.

The black-tie gala marks the opening of the the opening of the National Gallery of Victoria’s summer exhibition, featuring 75 projects by 100 artists.
