High winds and low humidity sparked dozens of wildfires across a handful of Mid-Atlantic states on Wednesday, sending officials scrambling to control the fires and issue air quality warnings. And as weather forecasts again raised fire danger on Thursday, firefighters across the region braced to continue the battle against the flames.

Wildfires were reported in parts of Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.

The Virginia Department of Forestry said in a statement late Wednesday night that department firefighters had contained 16 wildfires and that crews were still working to control dozens of others.

One of the state’s largest fires was burning in Rockingham County, Virginia, about 140 miles northwest of Richmond, the state capital. Rockingham County Fire Chief Jeremy Holloway said about 2,000 acres had burned. according to WHSV, a local news station. As a result, some residents of neighboring communities were asked to evacuate.

In response to the fires, local states of emergency were declared in Augusta, Page and Shenandoah counties in Virginia. Public schools in Page County were also closed Thursday.

The fires, which started a day after the official start of spring, are not unusual this time of year. Wildfire season in the northeastern United States typically peaks in April and can last into May. according to the National Weather Service. The pre-green period across the region, combined with increasing solar radiation and high-pressure systems, could help fuel these fires.

The Virginia Department of Environment Quality issued an air quality health alert Wednesday, saying people with heart or lung conditions, including children and older adults, should limit their outdoor activities.

Crews battled 39 wildfires on Wednesday in Prince William County, in Northern Virginia, just outside Washington, according to local reports. The flames in that area temporarily closed part of US 1, a major highway that runs from Florida to Maine.

In West Virginia, where smoke was also blown, officials worked to contain wildfires across the state, including in Grant, Hardy and Pendleton counties. WHSV reports.

At least five wildfires were reported in southern West Virginia on Wednesday some burn hundreds of acres.

Fire crews around the Mid-Atlantic region will be on alert again Thursday as weather forecasts call for conditions conducive to more fires.

The Weather Service office in Blacksburg, Virginia, said that despite decreasing winds Thursday, the combination of low relative humidity, northwest winds and dry fuels will again provide ideal fire conditions throughout the evening in southwestern Virginia and southeastern West Virginia . Similar statements were also issued for parts of Maryland and North Carolina.

“Residents are urged to use caution when handling potential ignition sources,” including machinery, cigarettes and matches, weather officials said.

Although the weather will be dry Thursday, a system is expected to bring heavy rain, with the possibility of flash flooding, to much of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast coasts this weekend.

A Louisiana truck driver is accused of causing a 160-car pileup that killed eight people by driving down the highway in a “superfog” and crashing into cars in front of him.

Ronald Britt, 61, was charged with negligent homicide for his role in a fiery pile-up on the highway which resulted in eight deaths last year.

Britt was speeding on Interstate 55 west of New Orleans on Oct. 23 when he struck the rear of a car that had stopped in the left lane behind several other vehicles, Louisiana State Police said in a statement Tuesday.

The “super fog” of swamp fire smoke and dense fog ensnared more than 160 vehicles, authorities said.

Eight people were killed in the multi-collision crash and 63 were injured, including 60-year-old James Fleming. His wife, Barbara Fleming, 69, survived but was seriously injured in the crash.

Britt, a commercial truck driver from Lafayette, was arrested on multiple charges, including negligent homicide, negligent wounding, reckless operation and other traffic-related offenses, state police said.

Britt voluntarily surrendered to authorities on Monday. It is not known whether he has an attorney who can speak on his behalf.

Another driver hit in the crash is still recovering from his injuries.

Months after the crash, Will Lee — who was stuck on I-55 for hours — is still in pain from injuries he sustained when his head was sliced open during the collision.

Negligent homicide in Louisiana carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a possible $5,000 fine.

Drone footage and videos showed apocalyptic scenes from the aftermath of the wrecks, showing a long stretch of mangled and scorched cars near New Orleans.

Vehicles were crushed, rammed and some were engulfed in flames. Many people initially stood on the side of the road or on the roof of their car and watched the disaster in disbelief, while others called for help.

Piles of mangled cars, piled on top of each other as firefighters trudged through the rubble, were left on the highway as the sun set.

Hours after the crashes, the smell of burning wreckage still lingered in the area.

Christopher Coll, 41, was one of the drivers in one of the pile-ups. Coll could smell smoke as he heard the sounds of crashing cars and popping tires.

“I was already hitting the brakes and slowing down when an F-250 pulled up on top of my work trailer and took me for a ride,” Coll said. The Times-Picayune/The New Orleans Advocate.

He was able to kick open the passenger door to escape and then helped others by pulling one person out through a car window.

Clarencia Patterson Reed was also among the wave of wrecked cars as she drove to Manchac with her wife and niece.

Reed told the newspaper she saw people waving their hands to stop, but when she did, her car was hit from behind and side by two other vehicles.

“It was ‘Boom.’ Boom. “All you heard was a crash for at least 30 minutes,” Reed said.

She was able to climb out of her car, but her wife was pinned down, injuring her leg and side.

While 25 people were taken to hospital with injuries ranging from minor to critical, many others sought medical attention on their own, authorities said.

Gov. John Bel Edwards asked for prayers Monday “for those injured and killed” and called on blood donors to replenish dwindling supplies.

The Louisiana State Police shared aerial photos on their Facebook page of the crashed cars and extensive debris on both the northbound and southbound lanes of the elevated highway, which runs over swamps and open water between Lakes Pontchartrain and Maurepas.

Climate protesters have brought traffic to a standstill on one of Melbourne’s busiest streets, causing massive chaos for thousands of frustrated commuters trying to get to work.

Dozens of Extinction Rebellion members blocked and walked slowly along Collins Street in the CBD during the morning rush hour on Tuesday.

Tram and bus services are also embroiled in the chaos.

Police have arrived and cordoned off a busy intersection on Queen Street, adding to the chaos.

Motorists caught in the chaos were furious.

“It’s just wrong,” one motorist told Sunrise.

“Something would take me five minutes to get to the road, but it took me about 25 minutes.”

The latest protest comes a week after a truck blockade on the West Gate Bridge caused major traffic delays and forced a young mother on her way to hospital to give birth along the highway.

Despite being arrested and charged last week, activist Joseph Zammit was back on the streets Tuesday morning

“What I was told was not unlawful protesting. It’s not clear to me what that means,” he told Sunrise.

‘So I’m playing it safe. I’m on the sidewalk handing out flyers.

More to come.

Kensington Palace has refused to release the original Mother’s Day portrait of the Princess of Wales and her children – after Kate publicly took the blame for editing the family photograph.

The Palace had come under mounting pressure to reveal the truth behind the photo after the world’s top picture agencies – including the Press Association – ‘killed’ the image over claims it had been digitally manipulated.

Kate this morning admitted that she had edited the photograph and issued a personal apology ‘for any confusion’ it had caused.

The photo of the mother-of-three beaming with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis was the first official picture released of the princess since she underwent ‘planned abdominal surgery’ in January.

Despite calls for the original to be published, Kensington Palace said it would not be reissuing the unedited photograph of Kate and her children.

Kate, in a statement on social media, said: ‘Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C’

Royal sources stressed that this was ‘an amateur, family photograph taken by the Prince of Wales’. It’s understood that it was taken in Windsor last week.

They said the couple wanted to offer an ‘informal’ picture of the family together for Mother’s Day and the princess made ‘minor adjustments’, as she has shared in her statement on social media.

An aide added: ‘The Wales family spent Mother’s Day together and had a wonderful day.’

Statements from the picture agencies who have ‘killed’ the image

AP

‘The Associated Press initially published the photo, which was issued by Kensington Palace. The AP later retracted the image because at closer inspection, it appears that the source had manipulated the image in a way that did not meet AP’s photo standards. The photo shows an inconsistency in the alignment of Princess Charlotte’s left hand.’

Reuters

‘We are removing this image following a post publication review.’

‘Earlier today our picture desk identified a problematic image provided to Getty Images by Kensington Palace. We can confirm the image in question was removed from our site in accordance with our editorial policy.’

A spokesperson for PA said: ‘Like other news agencies, PA Media issued the handout image provided by Kensington Palace of the Princess of Wales and her children in good faith yesterday.

‘We became aware of concerns about the image and we carried a report about it last night, and made clear that we were seeking urgent clarification about the image from Kensington Palace. In the absence of that clarification, we are killing the image from our picture service.’

It comes after PA – Britain’s most respected picture agency – this morning joined AP, AFP, Reuters, Getty Images and EPA in withdrawing the photo.

The UK’s national news agency said it had been ‘seeking urgent clarification about the image from Kensington Palace’ since it was released over claims it was digitally altered.

But in a sensational development this morning, PA revealed that it had now withdrawn the image ‘in the absence of that clarification’.

PA became the sixth news or picture agency to retract the photo.

The image of Kate and her children, said by the palace to have been taken by Prince William, was posted on social media.

Without an official response from the palace, confusion around the image had fuelled online conspiracy theories about Kate which have swirled on the internet since her abdominal surgery.

Ahead of Kate making her statement, royal commentator Peter Hunt said: ‘This is damaging for the royals. They knew there would be intense interest in any picture they released of Kate.

‘Their challenge is that people will now question whether they can be trusted and believed when they next issue a health update.’

The picture shows Kate sitting in a chair with her arms around Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, who are on either side of her, with Prince George standing behind, as all four smile at the camera.

But there was speculation that edits had been made to the left sleeve of Princess Charlotte’s cardigan, and other areas of the picture also raised concerns about possible manipulation.

In the social media post, Kate thanked the public ‘for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months’.

Within hours of the photo being shared around the world, multiple picture agencies issued a ‘kill notification’ – an industry term used to retract a photo previously handed out to publications.

Late on Sunday, the Associated Press became the first agency to ‘kill’ the photo over an ‘inconsistency in the alignment of Princess Charlotte’s left hand’.

While AP said there was no suggestion the photo was fake, it retracted it because it said on closer inspection, the source had manipulated the image in a way that did not meet the agency’s photo standards.

AP said its editorial standards state that images must be accurate and that it does not use altered or digitally manipulated images.

The agency’s news values and principles explain that minor photo editing, including cropping and toning and colour adjustments, are acceptable when necessary for clear and accurate reproduction and should maintain the authentic nature of the photograph.

Changes in density, contrast, colour and saturation levels that substantially alter the original scene are not acceptable. Backgrounds should not be digitally blurred or eliminated by burning down or by aggressive toning. The removal of ‘red eye’ from photographs is not permissible.

When AP determined the photo appeared to have been manipulated, it issued what is known as a ‘photo kill,’ an industry term that retracted the image and instructed clients to remove the photo from their systems.

As well as PA, five other picture agencies around the world have taken the extraordinary step of killing the photo of Princess Kate

As well as PA, five other picture agencies around the world have taken the extraordinary step of killing the photo of Princess Kate

‘At closer inspection it appears that the source has manipulated the image,’ the AP said in its advisory. ‘No replacement photo will be sent.’

A second agency, Reuters, also withdrew the image ‘following a post-publication review’. ‘We are reviewing the matter,’ a spokesperson said.

Reuters picture editors said part of the sleeve of Kate’s daughter’s cardigan did not line up properly, suggesting that the image had been altered.

The agency could not immediately establish how, why or by whom the alteration had been made.

AfP then followed suit by issuing a ‘mandatory kill notice’ before Getty Images became the fourth agency to retract the photograph. EPA this morning also issued the same ‘mandatory kill’.

A spokesman for AfP said: ‘It has come to light that the Handout issued by Kensington Palace today of Kate and the kids had been altered, therefore it was withdrawn from AFP systems.’

A spokesperson for Getty Images told Sky News: ‘Earlier today our picture desk identified a problematic image provided to Getty Images by Kensington Palace. We can confirm the image in question was removed from our site in accordance with our editorial policy.’

Readers on X added a community note to a post from the Prince and Princess of Wales’ account which shared the photo.

It said: ‘This photo is believed to be digitally altered and as a result many major news outlets have pulled the image from their reports.’

The photo of the princess is the first released since she was admitted to the London Clinic, the private hospital where the King underwent treatment for an enlarged prostate, for a planned operation on January 16.

Charles, 75, visited his daughter-in-law’s bedside after being admitted himself on January 26, the 11th day of Kate’s stay.

She was also visited by her husband, William.

Kate left the hospital on January 29, almost two weeks later, and returned to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor.

Details of the princess’s condition have not been disclosed but Kensington Palace previously said it was not cancer-related and that Kate wished her personal medical information to remain private.

The 42-year-old future queen was last pictured in public during a Christmas Day walk in Sandringham, Norfolk.

Kate is not expected to return to official duties until after Easter, and William, 41, temporarily stepped back from his royal role to juggle caring for her and their children as she recovered.

He returned to royal duties in February and is expected to carry out an engagement linked to his Earthshot environmental prize on Monday, as well as accompanying the Queen at events to mark Commonwealth Day.

Earlier this month the Army was forced into an embarrassing about-turn after suggesting Kate would attend Trooping the Colour on June 8.

Tickets were being sold for the event, with Kate expected to attend in her role as Colonel of the Irish Guards, the regiment which is trooping its colour this year.

However, it is understood the Army did not seek approval from Kensington Palace before publishing the page, and the website was subsequently updated to remove the reference to her.

Mickey German has lived in Fritch, Texas most of his life, but Fritch hasn’t always made it easy.

He recalls watching from the safety of a bar, The Renegade, in 1992 as a storm brought a group of tornadoes through Fritch, leveling his apartment and 200 other homes. Then, in the spring of 2014, a fire that locals call the Mother’s Day Fire burned another 225 people.

Now a new disaster has devastated Fritch, a close-knit town of about 1,900 residents, and left 54-year-old Mr. German homeless again. His apartment was one of dozens consumed by flames last week during one of several active wildfires that have burned a total of 1.2 million acres in the Texas Panhandle.

“It was in smoke,” Mr. German, a maintenance worker at a gas station, said Tuesday as he stood outside his temporary residence at the Lone Star Motel. “This one hurt.”

The population here has been steadily declining for decades, and after this latest catastrophe, residents are wondering which of their neighbors will be the next to pack up and leave. Between the 2010 and 2020 censuses, the city lost 12 percent of its residents. Yet many are drawn to stay because they want to live somewhere where everyone knows everyone and where persevering despite setbacks is seen as a sign of achievement.

“I know there’s a few I’ve talked to who say, ‘I’m done,’ but I’m not going anywhere,” Mr. German said as he smoked a cigarette near his truck, one of the few assets he could have . to save from the fire. “I won’t let it pass me by. Not a chance in hell. It’s home.”

Mr. German and other longtime residents said last week’s fire had burned some of the same land that was hit by the tornadoes in ’92.

The latest tragedy to befall Fritch was compounded Tuesday by the death of the city’s volunteer fire chief, Zeb Smith, who collapsed shortly after dawn while responding to a house fire in the city. Mr. Smith, 40, had entered the cream-colored one-story house because it was full of smoke, authorities said, and had to be pulled away by other firefighters. He couldn’t be saved.

At an emotional news conference, officials said Mr Smith and his crew had worked long days and nights last week battling the bushfires, only to have to deal with an unrelated blaze in the heart of their city.

“To me, he was one of my children,” Fritch Mayor Tom Ray said as he fought back tears.

Residents lined Fritch’s main thoroughfare, Broadway Street, to pay their respects as an array of fire trucks, police cars and motorcycles escorted a silver hearse. The flags in the city flew at half-mast.

Melony Watkins, 52, an artist, lives with her husband a block away from the house that caught fire and said she watched from her porch as the flames burned out the windows and doors. Ms. Watkins has lived in the city since fourth grade and describes herself as “a die-hard Fritchian,” but said she felt overwhelmed by what felt like one disaster after another.

“I just want to escape,” she said. “It’s just like any crazy day; I wake up almost before I even get my coffee and see what kind of roast is happening today.

Ms Watkins praised the generosity of many local residents who have offered food, extra bedrooms and farm supplies to those feeling burned out, but said she still expected some people would eventually leave. There is very little temporary housing, and some people whose homes burned may not be able to rebuild because, like many people in rural Texas, they didn’t have homeowners insurance.

The fire that struck Fritch, known as the Windy Deuce fire, was one of several fast-moving fires that started last week.

The largest fire by far is the Smokehouse Creek fire, which became the state’s largest fire in history and resulted in two deaths. A landowner lawsuit claims the fire was started by a downed utility pole, although the state has not yet drawn any conclusions about how the fire started. Thousands of cattle are feared dead, and large swaths of land have been charred, in a blow to ranchers and farmers who form the economic backbone of the region.

The fires have been unusually powerful, partly because of a combination of high winds and miles of dried-out grass that can ignite almost instantly, fire officials say.

“I’ve fought fire from Florida to California, from New Mexico to Montana, and the fire behavior we’re seeing in the Panhandle is by far the most extreme fire behavior I’ve ever seen,” said Colten Ledbetter, 32, a hood captain with the Southern Plains Fire Group that has been fighting the fires for the past week.

When the fire hit Fritch on the afternoon of February 27, the fire was moving so quickly that firefighters were unable to save homes. Some people saw the homes of friends and relatives in ruins, along with their own.

Wanda Buchanan, a teacher, has lived in the same house on the Chisholm Trail, a road overlooking large fields on the southern edge of the city, for 49 years. On Tuesday, she examined what was left: a pile of ash, fallen rocks and the twisted remains of the metal roof.

Her son’s house was also destroyed, and not far away the house of one of her grandsons.

Ms. Buchanan, 74, was working as a substitute teacher in Amarillo that day and could not return in time to save her most valuable possessions. Chief among these were her mother’s cookbook, her diplomas, the license from her marriage to her late husband, and a plethora of old home movies.

“Things like that you never get back,” she said. “I try not to think about the past and what I’ve lost.”

  • Country’s Health Minister Says Unapproved Drug Glutathione Can ‘Kill You’
  • Mariel Padilla posted a video showing off taking it to the office
  • After a response, she apologized and said the only thing in the IV was vitamins

The wife of a Philippine senator has drawn public backlash after flaunting her use of an intravenous skin bleaching agent in the Senate office.

Mariel Padilla, wife of politician Robin Padilla and influencer, posted a video on social media of herself taking the drug Glutathione, which has yet to be approved by the FDA.

It is clearly a strong supporter of the drug, which aims to make people look more Caucasian. She wrote, “Drip everywhere because we have to be consistent with the vitamins we put into our bodies and Drip in Luxe has really helped me with so many things so I’m no longer in pain, and I just feel so much better.”

Padilla explained why she took the drug in the office, which the country’s health secretary says can “kill you”: “Drip everywhere is our motto, hehehe.”

What is glutathione?

Glutathione occurs naturally in our body and is produced by our liver, but can also be taken as a medicine.

It is available in topical formulations, oral supplements, and an intravenous form.

One of the effects is to whiten the skin, either to reduce dark spots, but usually to make one look more Caucasian

The FDA has issued a warning against the use of the intravenous form

The compound also occurs naturally in many foods, including broccoli and cabbage

‘I had an appointment with Drip in Luxe, but I was going to be late, so I had it done in my husband’s office. I never miss an IV again because it really helps in so many ways.

She explained that its benefits include collagen production, whitening, energy, metabolism, immunity and much more. That’s why she considers it “so convenient and really effective.”

The message was criticized by medical professionals and politicians. Glutathione is not licensed as a beauty product and doctors warn it can have harmful effects.

Last month, a 39-year-old woman in Manila died after being connected to an IV containing glutathione and stem cells.

Teodoro Herbosa, the health minister, said: “(It) will whiten your skin and make you look really Caucasian, but it can damage your kidneys and kill you.”

Both Mariel and Robin Padilla apologized.

Despite the video and messages, Mariel insists the infusion only contained vitamins.

Several people who were angry at the influencers because they felt it was disrespectful went to X to criticize her.

And another wrote: ‘Horrible! There’s a good place for that, “can’t you procrastinate?”

Duke University has decided to close its herbarium, a collection of 825,000 specimens of plants, fungi and algae that was established more than a century ago. The collection, one of the largest and most diverse in the country, has helped scientists map the diversity of plant life and record humans' impact on the environment.

The university's decision has left researchers reeling. “This is such a devastating blow to biodiversity science,” said Erika Edwards, the curator of the Yale Herbarium. “The entire community is shocked and outraged at the same time.”

Scientific associations have also protested against this move. “Duke's decision to abdicate responsibility for their herbarium specimens sets a terrible precedent,” the Natural Science Collections Alliance wrote in a message. letter to college last Friday.

The alliance, along with six other scientific societies, supported one petition asking Duke to reconsider closing the herbarium. More than 11,000 signatures had been collected by Wednesday.

“It is very shocking that such a large collection at a wealthy university is considered redundant,” said Regina Baucom, a plant geneticist at the University of Michigan.

In an email sent to herbarium staff last week, Susan Alberts, dean of natural sciences at Duke, said the university had decided the collection should be moved elsewhere in the next two to three years.

“This is a loss for Duke,” she said in an interview with The Times. “We see it as the responsible thing to do to ensure that this collection is preserved for posterity in a place designed for that purpose.”

However, so far no place has agreed to give it a home. “There are no herbariums that can absorb something like that,” said Kathleen Pryer, director of the herbarium. “I'm very concerned that it will end up in a warehouse somewhere and be forgotten.”

Herbariums have been a mainstay of biology for centuries. Botanists return from expeditions with dried leaves, flowers, stems and seeds, which are then preserved for posterity. Some specimens have even been the basis for naming new species.

But herbaria are also valuable because they contain plants collected over long periods of time, allowing scientists to track people's impact on the environment. Some collections have shown that plants do their reach shifted because the planet has warmed up, for example.

The collections have become even more useful as technology has advanced. Researchers have started working on improved DNA sequencing extract genetic material of dried plant specimens, tackling ancient scientific questions such as the origins of the world's crops.

Botanists are far from finished documenting plant diversity. And every year they identify new species that need to be saved because many are already threatened with extinction.

In recent decades, some other universities have closed their herbaria, unwilling to maintain the space needed for the collections or the money needed to maintain them. In 2017, the University of Louisiana Monroe cleared out half a million units to make room for new athletic facilities.

The copies were saved from destruction at the 11th hour when they were moved to other collections that found space for them.

The Duke Herbarium was founded in 1921 and has grown steadily in the 103 years since. Researchers study not only the plants, but also other species, such as lichens, to investigate the effects of air pollution on the environment.

Last March, Duke University boasted about the climate research conducted in the herbarium a promotional video.

But Rytas Vilgalys, an expert on fungi at the herbarium, said it had been clear for some time that Duke was considering closing it. “We have seen the writing on the wall for years,” he says.

Dr. Pryer said Duke administrators asked her last year to write reports to justify continued support of the herbarium. But after talks with a potential donor collapsed in January, Dr. Alberts Dr. Pryer knew it would close.

“It's really a tragic turn of events,” said Dr. Pryer.

Dr. Alberts said Duke's biology department needs to spread its support across many areas. “We will not dictate to the department that they have to hire people in these areas forever,” she said. “We are a university with limited resources.”

Duke University has one donation of $11.6 billion.

Dr. Alberts also emphasized that Duke's plan was to move the herbarium elsewhere. “We don't destroy anything,” she said.

Jonathan Shaw, a biologist at Duke, said he was negotiating the inclusion of the mosses and related plants by another herbarium. “I'm hopeful that we can move the collections to places that will really promote biodiversity,” he said.

But Dr. Pryer said even institutions that have expressed interest weren't sure they could find the money to seize parts of the collection. She feared that parts of the herbarium could be lost during the shaking.

Brent Mishler, a former herbarium curator at Duke and administrator of the herbarium at the University of California, Berkeley for 30 years, said Duke's decision would also mean the loss of a strong tradition of academic research into plant diversity.

“It is shameful for Duke to discontinue research and training in biodiversity studies,” he said.

Taking to social media, a cleaning professional from Purdy and Figg explained that a mopping mistake causes musty smells, while a common dust blunder makes removing dust much more difficult.

The cleaner shared the advice online, saying: “Did you make any of these cleaning mistakes?! We're giving you three ways you can up your cleaning game with these quick and easy hacks.”

She then admitted, “I've made a lot of mistakes when it comes to cleaning, but I made them so you don't have to, so here are three of my biggest cleaning mistakes that everyone seems to make.”

Dust, dust, baby

If your bedside tables are covered in dust, make sure you avoid this common mistake.

The cleaning professional explained: “The biggest problem is trying to remove the dust with a damp cloth.

“It just pushes the dust around. First use a dry cloth before cleaning with any product.”

Let it dry

Not only that, but if you're someone who has hung out laundry in a bedroom and is wondering why it's taking so long to dry, then you need to take notes.

The cleaning lady shared: “Second, don't let your clothes dry in an unventilated area.

“The best place is outside, where they can air dry naturally, or at least in a large room with plenty of airflow.

“They dry faster and smell so much fresher.”

Joke what?!

Finally, we saw the woman cleaning her floors with her mop as she revealed what many people forget to do with their mop.

She concluded: “And finally, make sure you empty your mop properly.

“Otherwise you risk water stains and musty odors.”

Cleaning enthusiasts remained divided

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @purdyandfigghas clearly left many open-mouthed as it has quickly amassed a whopping 22,300 likes.

Social media users were grateful for the cleaning advice and many took to the comments section to express it.

One person said: “First one: yes, finally some validation.”

Another said: “Great tips! Thank you.”

A third commented: “Air drying is always the best solution!”

At the same time, not everyone was equally enthusiastic about the tips.

One user claimed: “Don't recommend dry dusting without telling asthmatics it's a danger.”

A second agreed: “Drying clothes outside is dirty. It puts dirt and pollen on the clothes.”

While someone else revealed: “I'm just sucking up the dust.”

A Chinese influence campaign that has sought for years to advance Beijing's interests is now using artificial intelligence and a network of social media accounts to deepen American discontent and division ahead of the U.S. presidential election, a new report says.

The campaign, known as Spamouflage, hopes to stoke disenchantment among voters by vilifying the United States as a country rife with urban decay, homelessness, fentanyl abuse, gun violence and crumbling infrastructure, according to the report published Thursday by the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, a non-profit research organization in London.

An additional goal, the report said, is to convince the international public that the United States is in a state of chaos.

Artificially generated images, some of which have also been edited with tools such as Photoshop, have given rise to the idea that the November elections will damage and possibly even destroy the country.

A post on Other images showed the two men facing each other, cracks in the White House or Statue of Liberty, and terminology such as “CIVIL WAR,” “INTERNAL STRIFE” and “THE COLLAPSE OF AMERICAN DEMOCRACY.”

The stories did not appear to have an overtly partisan slant, although Mr. Biden was the target of multiple negative portrayals, including references to his son Hunter Biden's legal troubles and claims that the president is a drug user. Spamouflage's attitude toward Mr. Trump was more ambiguous; posts claiming that his “anti-hero status makes him unstoppable” could be interpreted as flattering. Both men were portrayed as too old to rule.

In America's “hyper-polarized division,” China sensed an opportunity, said Elise Thomas, a senior analyst at the institute that wrote the report. Spamouflage's focus on social conflict and antagonism in the US presidential race could also indicate how Beijing hopes to shape the many other major elections taking place around the world this year.

“In this narrative universe, American democracy is portrayed as a source of disunity and weakness,” Thomas said in a statement. “They are trying to create a sense of a hardened superpower in disarray, unable to solve its internal problems and unfit to act as a leader on the international stage.”

Spamouflage has been active since 2017, Ms. Thomas wrote in the report, adding that the campaign is “notorious among researchers both for its sheer size and for its inability to generate any significant engagement from real social media users.” Meta, which owns Facebook and Instagram, said last summer it had removed thousands of social media accounts and hundreds of pages linked to the campaign. Meta researchers linked the campaign to Chinese law enforcement.

Thursday's report focused on spammy posts on on X.

Researchers at the NYU Stern Center for Business and Human Rights warned in their report on digital risks to this year's elections that the main threat in the 2024 election came less from AI-generated content and more to do with the dissemination of false, hateful and violent material. The reportpublished Wednesday, said such content has become more common because numerous social media platforms, including Facebook and YouTube, had backed away from some of their previous commitments regarding election integrity.

The researchers picked to be reduced.

The researchers also noted that political polarization in the United States was likely to entice China and others to sow confusion among voters.

Jacqueline Fernandez has written to Delhi Police against alleged con artist Sukesh Chandrashekhar. In her complaint, she has demanded strict action against the man for allegedly 'threatening her with intimidating tactics'.

Jacqueline Fernandez has reported an alleged scammer Sukesh Chandrashekhar for intimidating and harassing her while he was in jail. She further alleged that he intended to intimidate her to conceal the facts from the court. The 'Ram Setu' actor took the matter to Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora, the Indian Express article. Moreover, Jacqueline forwarded the letter to the Special Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch. A specialized team has been contacted to initiate a preliminary investigation into the complaint.

A few days ago, Jacqueline addressed the police chief in a letter on the subject of 'systemic failure in the prosecution of witness protection'. She said: “I am a responsible citizen who has inadvertently become embroiled in a case that has far-reaching implications for the rule of law and the sanctity of our 'justice system'. As a prosecution witness in a case registered by the Special Cell, I am writing to you amid a harrowing ordeal of psychological pressure and targeted intimidation campaigns.”

Jacqueline has written to the Chief Police Officer calling for swift action on the matter, which not only endangers her safety but also calls into question the fairness of the justice system. According to the statement, 'a man identifying himself as Sukesh is a suspect, who is behind bars in Mandoli Jail and threatening her with intimidating tactics in the open public domain', and to ensure protection as a 'prosecution witness' in a case under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA), an FIR under IPC sections should be registered against him.”

For those unfamiliar, Jacqueline Fernandez moved a Delhi court in December last year seeking an emergency injunction to restrain Sukesh from sending her letters, messages or statements. She is a witness in the FIR being investigated by the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police regarding the Rs 200 crore extortion and money laundering case involving Sukesh. She said in the December 17 petition that Sukesh had severely harassed her with threats and other forms of intimidation.
