Variety magazine joked in 2022 that Ozempic deserved its own thank-you speech at the Emmys, because so many stars on the podium had obviously been taking it. 

Hype around the drug hit the general public last year, but as with most trends it had already been doing the rounds in Hollywood, with celebrity fans including Kelly Osbourne, 39, Oprah Winfrey, 70, Amy Schumer, 42 and Boy George, 62, all admitting to using it. 

However while many raved about the new weight loss jab, other celebrities have spoken out to warn others of the grim after-effects.

Sharon Osbourne, 71, has voiced both the benefits and negative effects of using the drug, telling ITV’s Loose Women she stood by using it but she did regret continuing to take the jabs after her weight dropped below seven stone, saying ‘Be careful what you wish for’.

While Stephen Fry, 66, said his ‘astonishing’ weight loss came at a price, after Ozempic caused him to vomit up to five times a day.

Stephen Fry has become the latest big name star to warn of the dangers of the drug, The Mirror reported.

He attributes his obsession with food to his childhood in Norfolk, and the cook Mrs Riseborough employed by his parents Marianne and Alan who was a ‘good English plain cook’. 

After years of battling with his weight as a result, Fry said he was pleasantly surprised by the drug’s effectiveness and found it stopped all of his cravings for food and alcohol.

He said: ‘The first week or so, I was thinking, “This is astonishing. Not only do I not want to eat, I don’t want any alcohol of any kind. This is going to be brilliant.

‘Then I started feeling sick, and I started getting sicker and sicker and sicker. I was throwing up four, five times a day and I thought, “I can’t do this”. So that’s it. The new variant, Tirzepatide Mounjaro, makes it even worse apparently.’

Fry, who is married to comedian Elliott Spencer, says he was at his heaviest in April 2019 when his weight came to nearly 21st.

But by August of that year, he had lost five and a half stone after taking the drug.

Kelly Osbourne 

Kelly Osbourne is a vocal fan of Ozempic even calling the drug ‘amazing’ while speaking to E! News in February.

Part of the appeal to Kelly was that she found it less ‘boring’ than changing one’s diet and increasing exercise to lose weight.

‘There are a million ways to lose weight, why not do it through something that isn’t as boring as working out?’ she said. 

The daughter of Ozzy Osbourne went further, accusing critics of the medication and similar drugs of being jealous or deceitful. 

‘People hate on it because they want to do it. And the people who hate on it the most are the people who are secretly doing it or pissed off that they can’t afford it. Unfortunately, right now, it’s something that is very expensive, but it eventually won’t be because it actually works.’

Oprah Winfrey

The television host finally admitted to using the weight-loss drug in December — after previously vowing she would never use Ozempic or a similar drug because they were the ‘easy way out’.

The 70-year-old had lost more than 18kg over recent months, which led to speculation that she used the weight loss medication to help.

Oprah previously revealed she weighed 107.5kg at her heaviest, however she did not say what her current weight was. 

She revealed in an interview with People that she ‘now [uses] it as I feel I need it, as a tool to manage not yo-yoing’.

‘The fact that there’s a medically-approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for.’ 

She did not reveal which weight loss drug she used, although many speculated that she had got a prescription for Ozempic.

Oprah said she took the medication before Thanksgiving, and credited it with ensuring she only gained half a pound rather than eight.

Speaking in An Oprah Special: Shame, Blame and the Weight Loss Revolution, she fought back tears as she revealed how the drugs had meant she was no longer ‘constantly thinking about what the next meal is going to be’.

She said ‘for 25 years, making fun of my weight was national sport’ and that over the years she had ‘lost some weight’ and ‘put back on some weight’ but since starting to take medication she had stopped ‘obsessing’ about food. 

Along with messages of support online, some viewers slammed Oprah, accusing her of ‘promoting big pharma and pushing Ozempic’ and criticizing her for taking the drugs after spending nine years promoting Weight Watchers.

The show was released days after Oprah quit her Weight Watchers board role, citing a potential ‘conflict of interest’ with the show, which heavily featured weight loss drug brands.

During the show, Oprah pushed back at people she said wanted to ‘shame’ her for her weight and for taking the drugs.

She said: ‘I come to this conversation in the hope that we can start releasing the stigma and the shame and the judgment… to stop shaming other people for being overweight or how they chose to lose and not lose weight.’

She added: ‘All these years, I thought all of the people who never had to diet were just using their willpower and they were for some reason stronger than me.

‘But now I realize y’all weren’t even thinking about the food. It’s not that you had the willpower. You weren’t even thinking about it. You weren’t obsessing about it.’

Now, she said: ‘I use it as a tool, combined with hiking three or five miles a day or running. It’s not just one thing, it’s multiple things for me.’

Sharon Osbourne has also revealed she took Ozempic — but said she lost so many pounds on the drug that she ‘needed to put weight back on’.

The 71-year-old started taking the drug in 2023 when she weighed 142lbs (64.4kg).

She shed more than 45lbs (20kg) on the medication, but then her weight fell down to 97lbs (43kg).

‘I can’t afford to lose anymore,’ she said. My weight has stabilized. I went down to about 97lb (43kg) and it was like, ‘oh no!’. I needed to put some weight back on, which I have.’

She added while speaking to Women magazine: ‘You can lose so much weight and it’s easy to become addicted to that, which is very dangerous.

‘I couldn’t stop losing weight and now I’ve lost 42lbs — and I can’t afford to lose anymore.’

She added that when she first went on the drug she felt ‘very nauseous’ and was vomiting regularly. It took about two weeks for this to subside.

She urged people to keep the drug away from teenagers, saying it was just ‘too easy’ to become addicted.

She recently revealed doctors ‘can’t figure out’ why she hasn’t been able to gain weight back after she stopped using Ozempic months ago.

Asked about her weight loss in an interview with Woman Magazine released on Tuesday, Sharon said that even medics are stumped by her inability to gain the weight back.

The doctors can’t figure it out,’ she said. ‘But I think it’s just because I’m getting older and as you get older you lose weight anyway and shrink and shrivel off.’

Sharon started taking Ozempic in December 2022 and in November 2023 she told Mail On Sunday: ‘I’ve been off it a while now.’

Boy George

Boy George opened up about his fluctuating weight in his memoir Karma, which was released last year.

‘I know I don’t enjoy being overweight and it’s something I really want to deal with,’ he wrote. 

‘I have struggled with my weight most of my life and being under public and media scrutiny doesn’t help.’  

The Karma Chameleon singer, 62, wrote that he started out with Ozempic and then switched to Mounjaro.

Mounjaro uses the active ingredient tirzepatide, which targets GLP-1 and the hormone glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). Mounjaro is only FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes.  

George wrote: ‘I love food, and I can’t control my appetite, but I think I have finally got it under control.’ 

‘Well, I’m on Mounjaro. Isn’t everyone? Trust me, anyone who was fat last year and is not skinny is on the wonder drug.’

The singer also got a tummy tuck several years ago ‘to get rid of excess skin’ after losing 100 pounds. 

Heather Gay

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star announced that she has been taking Ozempic to lose weight.

At Variety’s Women of Reality TV event, she said that while she uses the drug, she has yet to see a big difference.

‘I’ve been on it for a long time, but hadn’t really seen much results,’ she told People. 

She also said that people around her started acting differently when they learned she was on Ozempic, which she found ‘discouraging.’ 

‘You lose five pounds, people are nicer to you,’ the 49-year-old said. ‘I don’t know why. It’s just the way the world works, and that makes me sad for women.’

‘But I’m happy that I’m down five.’ 

Tracy Morgan 

The comedian has also revealed he was taking Ozempic, saying the drug ‘cuts my appetite in half.’

The 55-year-old said he had lost several pounds on the drug and that he ‘ain’t letting it go.’

Speaking on the Today show, the star said he injected himself with the drug every Thursday to help with weight loss.

When told he had been working on his body and health a lot on the show, he said: ‘No, that’s Ozempic.

‘That’s how this weight got lost. I went and got a prescription and I got Ozempic. And I ain’t letting it go! It cuts my appetite in half. Now I only eat half a bag of Doritos.’

Elon Musk  

One of the world’s richest men said Ozempic made him ‘fit, ripped and healthy’, Elon Musk said he lost almost 30lbs (13.6kg) while taking the drug.

He revealed that he was using it in October 2022 when a fan asked what the secret was to his new slimmed-down appearance. Musk, 53, replied ‘Fasting’, before adding: ‘And Wegovy’.

He has also said his transformation was down to: ‘Fasting + Ozempic/Wegovy + no tasty food for me.’  

He said his weight-loss journey was prompted after seeing unflattering images of himself on a yacht. The 53-year-old’s weight loss formula prompted admiration from fans.

He also admitted to suffering a side effect from the drug. A Twitter user asked: ‘Does it give you those nasty burps? Taste like rotten eggs lol ugh.’ He replied: ‘Yeah, next-level.’

Robbie Williams

Robbie Williams said that he’s on ‘something like Ozempic’ to keep the pounds off.  After overcoming addictions to drugs and alcohol, the hitmaker has revealed that he’s on a mission to better his health.

‘Babe, I’m on Ozempic,’ he told The Times. ‘Well, something like Ozempic. It’s like a Christmas miracle.’

The 50-year-old, who did not reveal exactly what drug or regimen he’s on, said that he has lost 25 pounds so far. 

Williams has also said that he struggles with body dysmorphia, a mental health condition that causes a person to obsess over flaws in their appearance, such as weight.

‘And I need it, medically. I’ve been diagnosed with type 2 self-loathing,’ he said. It’s shockingly catastrophic to my mental health to be bigger.’

Amy Schumer

The comedian and actress revealed that she had tried the medication — but quickly gave it up.

The 42-year-old said on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen: ‘Like a year ago, I tried it.

‘I was one of those people that felt so sick and couldn’t play with my son. I was so skinny and he’s throwing a ball at me and [I couldn’t].’

She said she quickly gave up the medication, realizing it was not for her. She said: ‘And you’re like, ‘OK, this isn’t livable for me’. But I immediately invested [in it] because I knew everyone was going to try it.’

Schumer revealed that she had opted for liposuction, however, to help lose weight.

She said: ‘I just wanted to say that because if anybody sees me in pictures or anything and they’re like, she looks thinner, and whatever: It’s because I had a surgery.’

Emily Simpson

Real Housewives of Orange County star Emily Simpson started taking Ozempic after a doctor suggested she may be prediabetic. 

‘So I did. I did that in December,’ she said last year. For one month and you know, that was a great kickstart for me.’

She said that Ozempic helped her kick habits like ‘grazing’ and ‘not really paying attention’ to what she was eating.

She lost about seven pounds on the drug but stopped taking it due to exhaustion.

‘I didn’t like the way it made me feel lethargic and it made me just not have a lot of energy, which was hard with three little kids, but it does make you feel full and it does make you, for me, it was like a refresh,’ she said.

Prince William is hurt by the treatment of his wife Kate Middleton and sees “elements” of the hunt for his mother Diana, a royal expert has claimed.

Roya Nikkhah, editor-in-chief of the Sunday Times, spoke on Good Morning Britain today about the bizarre online conspiracy theories surrounding the Princess of Wales’s illness following her abdominal surgery on January 16.

Speaking about social media’s interest in the Princess of Wales’s health, she said: ‘Having seen his mother go through a lot of that, the hounding of his mother, I think he feels that elements of that are being revisited. are violated in terms of the demands and yells at his wife about her medical privacy and that hurts him.’

Asked by host Susanna Reid if William is feeling “sensitive” about the similarities, Roya added: “He always has, since he was a child and since he’s been with Catherine since university.”

Elsewhere, the royal expert revealed that Kate could discuss her health condition at public meetings next month, according to her close friends.

Roya said: ‘I think she’ll be a lot more open about what happened, I think she’ll do it in a natural, organic way, like during an engagement.

‘We’ve seen William at engagements in recent weeks and everyone asks him how Kate is doing and says please give these flowers to your wife. I think when she’s gone, she’ll be asked about it.

Speculation only increased when Kate publicly took the blame for the family photo released by Kensington Palace on Mother’s Day, which was ‘killed’ by six of the world’s top photo agencies amid concerns it had been ‘doctored’.

Kate was seen in the backseat of a car with her husband as he left Windsor to travel to London for two public engagements.

The Mail understands she was heading for a ‘private appointment’ and was not accompanying William in public.

Despite calls for the original image to be published, Kensington Palace insisted the unedited photo of Kate and her children would not be reissued.

It comes after further details emerged about the photoshoot, with William taking the photo in just 40 minutes on Friday before the princess edited it twice in Photoshop to ‘make the most of it’.

Several political parties claimed that election letters were sent anonymously by post or simply delivered to their office letterboxes without names.

Electoral bonds: Several political parties declined to share details electoral bond donors mentioned various legal provisions, while others said they received the funding instruments via a “dropbox” or by post without any names.

The DMKwhich received most of the donations from a lottery company, contacted its donors to obtain details of the electoral bonds as demanded by the Supreme Court in 2019.

The BJP cited amendments to the Representation of People Act, 1951 and relevant sections of the Reserve Bank of India Act and the Income Tax Act for not disclosing the donors.

“It is duly submitted that the electoral bonds have been introduced with the aim of raising only responsible funds of political financing while protecting the donors from any repercussions thereof,” the BJP said in its letter to the Election Commission.

The Congress sent a letter to the State Bank of India (SBI) asking for details of the donors of electoral bonds, the amount, the bank account in which it was credited and the date.

The SBI replied to the conference that the details of the electoral bonds were available with the political parties and shared the bank account statement shared with the Commission.

The Samajwadi Party shared details of bonds of relatively smaller amounts of Rs 1 lakh and Rs 10 lakh, but only mentioned that 10 bonds of Rs 1 crore each were received by post without any names.

The DMK, which received nearly 77 percent of its funding from lottery king Santiago Martin’s Future Gaming, said it had contacted the party’s donors to get details of the donations they had made.

“The scheme also does not require the donor’s details to be provided to the donee. … Be that as it may, following the directions of the Supreme Court, we contacted our donors and were able to collect the details from them,” the DMK said.

The Telugu Desam Party mentioned “not immediately available” in the column for listing the names of donors.

The Trinamool Congress said the election letters had been sent to the party office and “had fallen into the mailbox”. The party said some bonds were sent through messengers from several individuals who wanted to support the party, many of whom prefer to remain anonymous.

The NCP, then led by Sharad Pawar, expressed its inability to provide details of the donors for each bond as the party had not maintained details or issued receipts.

The NCP’s letter to the Election Commission stated that several of its office bearers were busy with the election campaign. “Wherever possible, we have mentioned the name of the person through whom the party received bonds,” the NCP said.

The Congress’ Goa unit contacted its donor VM Salgaonkar and Brothers to get details of the electoral bonds worth Rs 30 lakh given by them to the party.

The RJD said details of donations worth Rs 1.5 crore were not immediately available.

The Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (United) has told the Election Commission that someone delivered an envelope containing electoral bonds worth Rs 10 crore to its office in 2019, which were redeemed by the party.

Doctor Who fans have criticized the BBC after a huge change to the sci-fi show was announced ahead of the highly anticipated new series.

After the Ncuti Gatwa was unveiled‘s first full run in the TARDIS was due to hit screens on May 11, it has now been confirmed that the show will no longer air in its usual family-friendly Saturday evening slot.

Instead, the show will now be released on BBC iPlayer at midnight, presumably in the afternoon and evening in the US, after the show partnered with Disney+.

But fans have slammed the ‘shameful’ decision, claiming show bosses had ‘contempt’ for British viewers and ‘prioritised’ those on the other side of the Atlantic.

On X, formerly Twitter, someone wrote angrily: ‘So the UK fans are now second rate to the US. The US gets to watch in the late afternoon/early evening, while UK fans have to stay up late to avoid spoilers?! That’s really bad’.

While a second said: ‘I love pandering to the American public, I love Disney taking over (this is a lie, I hate it)’.

And someone else commented: ‘I’m an American and I think it’s insane and disrespectful that Doctor being broadcast at midnight in the UK.’

While another asked: ‘You don’t want British viewers??? Soon you will realize that this is a big mistake.’

As another fan typed, “As an American I hate this. Doctor Who is a British show and Britain should have the best timeslot. This midnight thing is bullshit.”

A sixth said: ‘Midnight really? What happened to Doctor Who on a Saturday night? This is just pandering to the American public.”

Disney Plus now has international distribution rights to the show, while it remains exclusive to the BBC in the UK.

And last year, showrunner Russell T. Davies assured fans that Doctor Who would still remain the same show and that nothing would change after it became a co-production.

Russell, 60, explained in an issue of Doctor Who magazine: ‘I know people are naturally concerned about American producers having notes on things.’

‘Well, you don’t have to. They give excellent notes.”

Russell added: “And I’m here to tell you that you haven’t seen a drama on British television that didn’t have American endorsements in 20 years. Everything is a co-production… it’s really normal.’

TThe highly anticipated series will release the first two episodes at midnight on BBC iPlayer before arriving on BBC One later that day ahead of the Eurovision Song Contest grand final.

The new season of Doctor Who sees Ncuti Gatwa return as the Fifteenth Doctor, alongside Millie Gibson as Ruby Sunday, after making their debut in The Church on Ruby Road on Christmas Day.

In the upcoming series, audiences will see the Doctor and Ruby travel through time and space on adventures to lands unknown, to Regency-era England, to space worlds and the 1960s.

This season also sees the return of Michelle Greenidge as Carla Sunday, Angela Wynter as Cherry Sunday and Anita Dobson as Mrs Flood.

The eight-episode series will also feature a range of special guest stars, including Jinkx Monsoon, Aneurin Barnard, Yasmin Finney, Jonathan Groff, Bonnie Langford, Jemma Redgrave, Lenny Rush and Indira Varma. More will be announced soon.

Cara Delevingne was first spotted leaving the Kit Kat Club at the Playhouse Theater in London after her $7 million Los Angeles home was destroyed in a fire.

The supermodel, 31, initially took to her Instagram page on Friday to reveal news of the devastating incident, while also believing her two cats had died in the flames.

However, when she discovered her beloved pets had been rescued, she shared an update with her fans, writing, “They’re still alive!! Thank you to the firefighters.”

The actress could be seen sitting in a car as she left the venue later on Friday evening after her performance in the musical Cabaret in London’s West End.

Her parents, who claimed so TMZ that the cause of the fire was due to ‘electrical’ problems – were also in the same car.

Delevingne wrapped herself in a black long-sleeved jacket to keep herself warm in the cooler temperatures, while her locks were pulled back into a sleek updo.

Cara’s parents, Pandora and Charles, were in line to enter the Kit Kat theater before the show started when they were contacted by TMZ.

At one point the interviewer asked the pair, “Do you know what caused the fire?” to which her father replied, “Electric.” Her mother also added that her daughter was “devastated.”

The video was apparently taken before news of the star’s rescued cats broke, as Charles said the pets “have not been found.”

The cause of the flames was raised again, with the actress’ father mentioning a ‘powerline’ possibly causing the fire due to ‘very windy’ weather in the area.

When asked how Delevingne was doing, Pandora said again, “I think she’s probably devastated.”

Her mother then explained to the outlet, “She had everything going for her whole life. She built it, she made it. She has everything in her.’

When Cara heard the news about the fire earlier on Friday, she took to her Instagram Stories to share a photo of her two cats and expressed how “heartbroken” she was.

She then wrote emotionally to her fans and followers: ‘My heart is broken today… I can’t believe it. Life can change in the blink of an eye. So cherish what you have,” followed by a broken heart emoji.

At the time of the incident, both the star’s cats and another resident, who was reportedly treated for smoke inhalation, had been inside.

However, she later took to her Instagram again to reveal the relieving and positive update that her cats had been rescued.

In addition to uploading another photo of her two pets, Delevingne wrote, “They’re still alive!! Thank you to the firefighters,” followed by a red heart emoji.

The model then shared a separate message of thanks to the firefighters. ‘Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the firefighters and people who came to help…’

Cara was in London at the time of the fire because she was in the middle of a performance in the musical Cabaret.

Firefighters rushed to the scene after a 911 call was made around 3:57 a.m. PST. TMZ.

Cara’s $7 million mansion in Studio City, California was reportedly engulfed by flames that spread to the attic, causing extreme damage to the expensive property.

A total of 94 firefighters showed up to battle the blaze, arriving in 13 different engines.

After the 42-year-old Duchess of Sussex’s explosive return to social media last night, where she opened the account for her lifestyle and cooking brand, royal fans have gone into panic mode.

And while little information has been released about what American Riviera Orchard has to offer, brand expert Hayley Knight says the anticipation for the products and content will serve the company well in the early months.

She added that it was “not coincidental” that the Duchess launched the brand on the same day her husband Prince Harry was due to appear via video message at the Diana Legacy Awards, teasing fans with a “glitter” of information , she built anticipation for what the brand has to offer.

Hayley also said it “makes sense” that the Duchess has decided to launch a lifestyle brand following the success of rival A-list brands such as Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop and Kourtney Kardashian’s Poosh, adding that the Duchess “wants to position herself among celebrity counterparts places’ .

Speaking to FEMAIL, Hayley said: ‘We have seen in the past that everything Meghan wears, promotes and sells out immediately, and there are websites dedicated to ‘What Meghan Wears’ demonstrating her brand power.”

She added that Meghan had “incredibly strong” instincts when it came to PR and marketing, and “wouldn’t have launched this if she didn’t think it would work.”

So far, little has been shared about what American Riviera Orchard will look like when it officially launches, but Hayley thinks it’s safe to assume it will target “the mid-to-upper market,” with Meghan’ leans on the brand and her personal style’. .

Hayley predicted: ‘I’m sure we can expect homely, yet stylish, unique, modern designs for the stylish and contemporary home, with undertones of spirituality and mindfulness.’

The branding expert admitted that it is difficult to say how much the Duchess will earn from the American Riviera Orchard as no products or prices have been released yet.

But she predicted: ‘Meghan will definitely see rapid success once the store launches. We have seen in previous celebrity launches that demand is incredibly high and the products sell quickly.”

She added that Meghan will likely start selling her “own range” of products that she claims she will use herself, which will be “a popular selling point.”

“I can’t imagine Meghan making less than six figures within the first few weeks of opening, if not in the first week of selling globally,” she said.

As for brand collaborations on social media, Hayley said Meghan is unlikely to make money through paid partnerships, as the Sussexes will likely only use social media to promote the brand, rather than returning to platforms with their own accounts.

However, she added, “There’s a chance she could do interviews, though, and IG lives with other people in the industry, and if they get paid opportunities, she could make over $1 million per post.”

In 2018, while living in Britain as a working royal, Meghan bonded with Grenfell Tower fire survivors when she joined a community kitchen in the area and had no qualms about helping out preparing meals.

The Sussexes’ explosive Netflix series revealed that Meghan remains in touch with the community today, despite now living in California.

The Duchess has also previously contributed recipes to charity cookbooks, including a lemon tart in The World Central Kitchen Cookbook: Feeding Humanity, Feeding Hope, published last year.

Brand expert Emily Austen advised Meghan to ‘remove herself from the brand’.

“It should come as no surprise that Meghan Markle has jumped on the wellness brand bandwagon, despite her apparent aversion to neutral tones during her time in Britain,” she told FEMAIL.

“Meghan and Harry have encouraged a family story as a couple, and Meghan has delved into kitchen-based brand moments, such as her cookbook; Together. ‘I wouldn’t expect a company like this to make a profit certainly in the first twelve months, but it is unclear at this stage whether there has been any external investment, who actually runs the company and what the launch plan is. e.g. D2C through to website.

‘A smart move would be to partner with the established people in this space, to ensure audience share and increase credibility. Whether or not others are up for this remains to be seen,” she added.
