Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden appeared in good spirits as she started the fourth day of her trip to Bangladesh with a business breakfast.

The royal, 46, chatted with representatives of multilateral banks and international financial institutions over breakfast at the InterContinental Hotel in Dhaka.

The mother-of-two looked typically chic and wore a blue suit with an elegant cream blouse for the occasion.

Later, Victoria visited the Swedish Embassy in Dhaka and its ambassador, Alexandra Berg von Linde. The royal family appeared pleased as she received a bright yellow bouquet at the embassy.

Victoria then swapped her heels for a casual pair of trainers and a floral dress as she enjoyed a ride on the back of a rickshaw.

With a beaming smile, the 46-year-old made herself comfortable as she sat in the cycle rickshaw.

The mother-of-two wore a pair of Nike Air Force 1 sneakers, but with added glamor thanks to the floral detailing on the side.

To match the theme of her sneakers, Victoria opted for a casual boho-chic dress with a floral and paisley print.

Today is the final day of Victoria’s trip to the South Asian continent, which she undertook as part of her role as Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

It comes after Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden beamed yesterday as she unveiled a portrait of herself during a visit to the Asian University for Women in Bangladesh.

The royal, 46, appeared in good spirits as she uncovered the large portrait with visible excitement on her face.

It was the second day of Victoria’s trip to Bangladesh, which she is carrying out as part of her role as UNDP Goodwill Ambassador.

The regal portrait will hang on the wall of the Asian University for Women in Chattogram – an independent institution that welcomes all students, regardless of their background.

During the visit, the heir to the Swedish throne also talked to the students and interacted with their work.

The 46-year-old also delivered a speech to staff and students of the institution, which is committed to promoting women’s education.

Elsewhere on the day, Victoria visited the UNDP rural climate change adaptation project in the Khulna district of eastern Bangladesh.

Victoria embraced the tradition and wore a floral headpiece for the project, which has received contributions from both Sweden and the UNDP.

Earlier that day, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden appeared cheerful while holding a goat during a visit to a climate change project in Bangladesh.

The heir to the Swedish throne, 46, wore a red and white floral lei around her neck as she visited the women-led community project in Khulna district on Tuesday.

The royal looked bright and breezy in flared white trousers with a blue summer print, which she teamed with an oversized T-shirt and trainers.

Victoria went for natural makeup and her brunette locks were pulled back into a relaxed bun as she smiled for the cameras while holding a small goat, while in another move she held a fish.

Princess Victoria once again showed off her style credentials during her trip to Dhaka yesterday.

She wore a striking pleated swan print dress by Swedish designer Jennifer Blom as she visited the Foreign Service Academy to see how the country is using digital solutions.

Victoria put her best fashion foot forward for the visit, pairing her statement dress with a vibrant cherry red handbag.

Victoria first wore the colorful dress in 2017, when she celebrated 100 years of independence in Finland together with other members of the Swedish royal family.

The TV BAFTA nominations have been announced ahead of the ceremony on May 12.

The sixth series of royal drama The Crown has received eight nominations across the board, after the concluding series focused on the death of Princess Diana.

Black Mirror has received seven nominations for the episode Demon 79, the fifth episode of the sixth season of the dystopian reality series.

The episode centers on a meek saleswoman who is told she must commit terrible acts to prevent a disaster in northern England in 1979.

Meanwhile, Happy Valley, Slow Horses and The Sixth Commandment each received six nods after being warmly received by fans and critics alike.

Black Mirror has received seven nominations for the episode Demon 79, the fifth episode of the sixth season of the dystopian reality series.

Black Mirror has received seven nominations for the episode Demon 79, the fifth episode of the sixth season of the dystopian reality series.

The stars in the running for the lead actress include Anjana Vasan for Black Mirror, Anne Reid in The Sixth Commandment and Bella Ramsey for The Last Of Us.

Also nominated in the category are Helena Bonham Carter for Nolly, Sarah Lancashire for Happy Valley and Sharon Horgan for her role in Best Interests.

In the Leading Actor category, Brian Cox is nominated for Succession, Dominic West for The Crown and Kane Robinson for Top Boy.

Also in the running are Paapa Essiedu for The Lazarus, Steve Coogan for The Reckoning and Timothy Spall for The Sixth Commandment.

Coogan’s nod comes after a wave of controversy over his role as pedophile Jimmy Savile, which aired on the BBC last year despite claims it was axed.

His portrayal of the depraved presenter was described as ‘scarily good’, but the series led to criticism for turning the harrowing events into entertainment.

In the daytime TV category, Loose Women, Lorraine, Make It Market and Scam Interceptors have all been nominated.

However, This Morning was axed after a turbulent year for the show which saw both regular presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby leave.

Meanwhile, Happy Valley (pictured), Slow Horses and The Sixth Commandment have each received six nods after being warmly received by fans and critics alike.

In terms of best drama series, The Gold, Happy Valley and Slow Horses are all nominated alongside Top Boy.

While in the Entertainment Series category, Hannah Waddingham: Home For Christmas and Later… With Jools Holland are among those nominations.

Michael McIntyre’s Big Show and Strictly Come Dancing are also shortlisted.

17 of the 44 nominees in the performance categories have received their first BAFTA TV Awards nomination, including Amit Shah, Bella Ramsey and Bridget Christie.

This list also includes David Tennant, Éanna Harwicke, Elizabeth Debicki, Hammed Animashaun, Hannah Waddingham, Harriet Walters, Harris Dickinson and Kane Robinson.

The BAFTA Television Craft Awards will take place on Sunday April 28.

The BAFTA Television Awards with P&O Cruises will once again be presented by comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan and air on Sunday 12 May on BBC One and iPlayer.

The awards are also broadcast in North America, Scandinavia, South Africa and Australia on BritBox International, in Australia and New Zealand on BBC Studios ANZ, and in 24 countries in Africa and the Middle East on AlThaqafeya and MBC Channels, together with other territories to be confirmed.

Today’s nominations were determined by a combination of TV membership-wide voting, juries and chapter voting.

Juries are composed of voters with the relevant professional expertise and a balanced distribution of gender, background, location and age.

Chapters are made up of BAFTA members who have specialist knowledge in the relevant subject for the category in question.

Juries and chapters are made up of voters within the BAFTA membership, including more than 5,700 creative practitioners from the television industry. The latest demographic information about BAFTA membership can be found here.

Given the very large number of entries for the BAFTA Television and BAFTA Television Craft Awards, the use of juries ensures that every longlisted entry for every category is seen and considered by every voting member.

This year, more than 500 voters participated in 127 hours on 43 juries, and four chapter votes took place to decide the nominations.

Two first-time nominees in the New Talent category: Fiction Kat Sadler (Writer – Such Brave Girls) and Mawaan Rizwan (Writer – Juice) are also nominated as Writer Comedy and Scripted Comedy nominees for Such Brave Girls and Writer Comedy and Male Performance in a comedy program for Juice, with three nominations each.

Jane Millichip, CEO of BAFTA, said: ‘It is a real privilege to announce today’s nominations, which recognize the most gripping, entertaining, challenging, funniest, most informative, highest quality and most impactful TV programs of 2023 , as voted by BAFTA members.

More than 100 programs from 12 broadcasters and streamers represent an extraordinary range of content. We are proud to present this incredible talent at our Television Craft Awards on April 28th and our Television Awards with P&O Cruises on May 12th.

It is important that we celebrate the extraordinary craftsmanship and creativity of the broadcasting sector, especially during what has been a challenging year for many people working in the industry.”

The world’s 30 coolest streets for 2024 have been named by Time Out and it’s a thoroughfare in the ‘ultra-trendy suburbs’ of Melbourne that takes the crown.

It’s followed by one of Hong Kong’s oldest roads, with a street in Austin, Texas, that ‘encapsulates the city’s spirit’ taking bronze. The UK doesn’t fare well, managing just one entry – London’s Gerrard Street in 17th place.

The ranking – compiled from the thoughts, ‘hyper-local insight’ and expertise of Time Out’s global editorial team –  highlights ‘must-see streets, roads, avenues, plazas and boulevards in cities around the globe, where locals head for a guaranteed good time’, the guide says.

Grace Beard, Travel Editor at Time Out, said: ‘You only really get to know a city when you veer down its side streets, and Time Out’s list of the World’s Coolest Streets celebrates the avenues, thoroughfares, backstreets and boulevards where local life really thrives. Nominated by our local expert editors and contributors – who know their cities like nobody else – these are the best streets in cities around the world right now to eat, drink, dance, shop and stroll.’

Scroll down to see the results in full and cast your vote for your favourite street among the top 10 in our poll at the bottom…

10. Consell de Cent, Barcelona

Consell de Cent in Barcelona, which lands 10th in the ranking, comprises ‘more than 6km (3.7 miles) that cut right through the city’s core’ and is lined with shops and restaurants

‘Walking down Consell de Cent is like taking a stroll through a microcosm of Barcelona,’ says Time Out of this ‘vibrant’ street in the city’s Eixample neighbourhood.

Since its pedestrianisation, the central hub boasts ‘more than 6km (3.7 miles) that cut right through the city’s core’ and it ‘no longer feels like a chore to walk through’. Instead, citygoers can enjoy the many restaurants, boutiques and hangout spots that line the street, according to the guide.

‘You’ve got everything from the latest crazes like Chinese hot pot joints, CBD shops, and beauty salons to timeless favourites like vermouth bars, cozy tortilla spots, and artisan bakeries,’ it adds.

What are Time Out’s hot tips for the street? Soak up some culture at one of its many galleries and, when the night rolls around, ‘hit up one of the vibrant LGBTQ+ spots like Priscilla Cafe or Plata Cocktail Bar’.

9. Chazawa-dori, Tokyo

Chazawa-dori, a street in Tokyo's Sangenjaya district that ranks ninth, is 'presided over by a giant gorilla jutting out from the rooftop of a FamilyMart convenience store'

Chazawa-dori, a street in Tokyo’s Sangenjaya district that ranks ninth, is ‘presided over by a giant gorilla jutting out from the rooftop of a FamilyMart convenience store’

Just two train stops away from Shibuya, Tokyo’s Sangenjaya neighbourhood has the ideal mix of city-centre excitement with the relaxed vibe of a mostly residential neighbourhood.

So says Time Out, which shines a light on its main thoroughfare – Chazawa-dori – which ‘is presided over by a giant gorilla jutting out from the rooftop of a FamilyMart convenience store’.

But this street has more to offer than an iconic photo opportunity, according to the publication, which adds: ‘Every Sunday afternoon, Chazawa-dori is closed to traffic, making it the perfect time to explore this vibrant street on foot, popping in and out of friendly restaurants, cosy cafés, local grocers and charming bakeries.’

What does Time Out recommend to eat? Sushi with wine at the ‘sleek and modern’ Sancha Monica or a cream soda float topped with ice-cream and fresh fruit at Guuutara Coffee.

8. Arnaldo Quintela, Rio de Janeiro

Arnaldo Quintela in Rio de Janeiro comes eighth. It has established itself as 'a culinary hotspot', says Time Out

Arnaldo Quintela in Rio de Janeiro comes eighth. It has established itself as ‘a culinary hotspot’, says Time Out

‘Amazing burgers’, Brazilian music and late night venues are on the cards at Arnaldo Quintela in Rio de Janeiro, according to Time Out.

Not too long ago, the street ‘would’ve been a ghost town after work hours’, it says, adding: ‘But over the past few years, this street has established itself as a culinary hotspot, and now you can hardly move for people filling its sidewalks each night.

‘Old mechanic shops have become cosy places to eat and drink; groups gather inside and outside traditional bars like Xepa and Treme Treme; and hipster hangouts such as Calma are where to see and be seen. There are more upmarket restaurants for those who prefer to sip fine wine with a standout meal and there are plenty of places to dance ‘til late. If you’re cool, you’re probably there.’

7. Rua da Boavista, Lisbon

Rua da Boavista (fifth) is 'a central thoroughfare where new ventures in eating, drinking and shopping sprout up all the time'

Rua da Boavista (fifth) is ‘a central thoroughfare where new ventures in eating, drinking and shopping sprout up all the time’

‘Few neighbourhoods in Lisbon have lived as many lives as Cais do Sodre, a neighbourhood which has grown beyond its nightlife legacy and become a place to shop local, have a family brunch and dinner with friends,’ says Time Out.

‘Right next door to the original Time Out Market, Rua da Boavista is an excellent representation of the neighbourhood’s new chapter – a central thoroughfare where new ventures in eating, drinking and shopping sprout up all the time.’

The guide suggests buying stylish organic cotton from +351, a Portuguese clothing brand known for its minimalist, unisex pieces, and eating at Cav 86, which it describes as ‘an ode to sharing, where seasonality takes the lead’.

6. Jalan Petaling, Kuala Lumpur

One of the oldest streets in Kuala Lumpur, Jalan Petaling (sixth) has been 'experiencing a renaissance' over the past few years

One of the oldest streets in Kuala Lumpur, Jalan Petaling (sixth) has been ‘experiencing a renaissance’ over the past few years

‘Jalan Petaling is one of Kuala Lumpur’s oldest streets, home to the city’s first Chinese settlers in the 19th century,’ says Time Out.

The guide says it has been ‘experiencing a renaissance’ over the past few years. ‘You’ll find Kuala Lumpur’s oldest temples next door to colonial shophouses housing the newest dining and drinking joints,’ it adds.

‘Begin the day with a cuppa and a spot of brunch – or start off at a kopitiam, a local-style coffeehouse – cosy up at a resto-bar, and come nightfall there’s always a party, whether you’re into drum ’n’ bass, jazz or reggae.’

Eateries recommended by the guide include Chocha Foodstore, for its modern Malaysian cuisine, and Botakliquor Bar, for its cocktails ‘spotlighting local botanicals’.

5. Commercial Drive, Vancouver

Vancouver's Commercial Drive remains 'defiantly ungentrified', says Time Out, which ranks the street in fifth place

Vancouver’s Commercial Drive remains ‘defiantly ungentrified’, says Time Out, which ranks the street in fifth place

In a city of rapid change, Commercial Drive remains defiantly ungentrified. McDonald’s and Starbucks tried and failed to stay the course, and the many clothing shops and boutiques are devoted either to vintage or ethically sourced items from far-off places.

So says Time Out, asserting that here everything is ‘unique and one-of-a-kind’ besides ‘a low-flying doughnut chain outlet’ and ‘a generic watering hole’.

It adds: ‘Hip by default, the Drive – as it’s known to locals – also boasts a family-owned bowling alley, a plethora of coffee shops, no fewer than four used book shops and three record stores – and more pizza, and pizza slice, joints than you can shake a pepperoni stick at.’

The guide recommends eating at Lunch Lady for a ‘modern take on Vietnamese street eats’ and visiting The Drive Canteen for ‘local and exotic eats’, including ‘house-made sweets and a large selection of non-alcoholic beer, wine and mixed drinks’.

4. Guatemala Street, Buenos Aires

Guatemala Street, in fourth place, is home to 'one of only two Michelin-starred restaurants' in Buenos Aires, and a spot where 'waiting in line for a table becomes a social occasion'

Guatemala Street, in fourth place, is home to ‘one of only two Michelin-starred restaurants’ in Buenos Aires, and a spot where ‘waiting in line for a table becomes a social occasion’

‘Even waiting in line for a table becomes a social occasion’ on Guatemala Street in the Palermo Viejo district of Buenos Aires, according to Time Out, which notes: ‘Every night, you’ll see people hanging out by the old tram line enjoying glasses of Malbec.’

The street is home to ‘two of the city’s four newly green-starred restaurants’ as well as ‘one of only two Michelin-starred restaurants – Don Julio, aka the world’s best parrilla [grill restaurant]’.

The guide adds: ‘Much more than a casual steakhouse, this incarnation (literally) of meat culture is deeply rooted in local traditions of breeding and grilling; of wine and friends.’

3. East Eleventh, Austin

Must-visit venues on third-place East Eleventh in Austin include Kenny Dorham's Backyard, Franklin Barbeque and the Vintage Bookstore and Wine Bar, the guide says

Must-visit venues on third-place East Eleventh in Austin include Kenny Dorham’s Backyard, Franklin Barbeque and the Vintage Bookstore and Wine Bar, the guide says

East Eleventh, says Time Out, is ‘beloved among locals for encapsulating the city’s spirit like no other street’.

The guide adds: ‘East Eleventh packs every inch with incredible food, culture and music.

‘Must-visit venues include Kenny Dorham’s Backyard, a makeshift venue with a permanent house party vibe, Franklin Barbeque for game-changing brisket and the Vintage Bookstore and Wine Bar.’

2. Hollywood Road, Hong Kong

Hollywood Road in Hong Kong 'is one kilometre (0.6 miles) long and links up some of the city's must-visit destinations'. The street takes the silver medal

Hollywood Road in Hong Kong ‘is one kilometre (0.6 miles) long and links up some of the city’s must-visit destinations’. The street takes the silver medal

‘One of Hong Kong’s oldest streets dating back to 1844, Hollywood Road is one-kilometre long and links up some of the city’s must-visit destinations,’ says Time Out, ‘from the Man Mo Temple and the Mid-Levels Escalator, to the Tai Kwun arts and culture hub and some of the city’s best bars, restaurants and nightlife spots such as Tate Dining Room and Lockdown, a speakeasy hidden behind a toilet bowl display.’

As for its name – Time Out explains that ‘according to legend’, it likely came from the holly bushes that once lined its edges.

1. High Street, Melbourne

Behold the world's coolest street, Melbourne's High Street, which offers 'something for everyone' from 'amazing food and drink' to 'live music venues'

Behold the world’s coolest street, Melbourne’s High Street, which offers ‘something for everyone’ from ‘amazing food and drink’ to ‘live music venues’

Drum roll, please, for the winner, a street that ‘weaves through the ultra-trendy suburbs of Northcote, Thornbury and Preston’ that according to Time Out offers ‘something for everyone… thanks to its unique local businesses’.

The guide continues: ‘Day to night, visitors can find amazing food and drink like authentic Portuguese tarts at Casa Nata, local natural wine at Northside Wines, or lasagne at 1800 Lasagne.

‘Known for its many live music venues, High Street is home to legendary locations like Northcote Social Club and the Croxton Band Room, as well as smaller spots like High Note and Shotkickers.’

Leah Glynn, the Time Out Melbourne Editor, adds: ‘We Melburnians love a rooftop bar, and High Street’s home to a real beauty in Gigi Rooftop. Intimate and exclusive (the teeny space is accessible only via Umberto Espresso Bar), it’s the go-to spot for a spritz at sundown with a side of sweeping suburban views.’

THE 30 COOLEST STREETS IN THE WORLD, ACCORDING TO TIME OUT

From Rihanna’s papal-inspired Met Gala look to Kate Moss’ wedding dress, some of the most famous moments of 21st Century fashion have come from the brilliant mind of John Galliano.

Born in Gibraltar to an Italian father and Spanish mother, and raised in south London, his quirky aesthetic has been synonymous with British fashion.

But while he’s lead a very glamorous life, rubbing shoulders with A-listers and supermodels on the red carpet, Galliano has also struggled with addiction, alcoholism and substance abuse.

Now, a new documentary is set to explore the designer’s life, scandals and triumphant return to Paris Couture Fashion Week, after being dropped in 2011 for hurling anti-Semitic insults at a group of Jewish women in a Paris bar.

Directed by Oscar-winning Kevin Macdonald, High & Low: John Galliano, will show the peaks and troughs of the 63-year-old’s high-flying career.

Now 10-years sober, he sat down with Macdonald to discuss his rise, fall and return – from the pits of Paris Fashion Week to one of the most sought-after names in the industry.

Raised the child of a plumber, in south London, Galliano says he was inspired by his Spanish mother, who dressed him and his sisters in immaculately pressed and starched clothes whenever they left the family home.

At the age of 16, he left school to study textile design at East London College, before enrolling at the prestigious St Martin’s School of Art in 1980.

He worked as a dresser at the National Theatre and threw himself into the London club scene – experiences that undoubtedly imprinted his design aesthetic.

After starting an eponymous line in the 1980s, Galliano was appointed as the designer of Givenchy in 1996.

He soon transitioned to Dior, before being spectacularly fired after he was filmed expressing admiration for Hitler and telling a woman, who he thought was Jewish, that her parents should have been gassed.

Heavily intoxicated, he then allegedly ranted to an Asian man sitting with her: ‘****ing Asian b******’.

During his one-day trial in June 2011, Galliano admitted two instances of making anti-Semitic and racist comments and, that September, was given two suspended fines, totalling 6,000 euros.

In honour of Dior’s memory, Galliano designed 47 breathtaking costumes, each evoking the spirit of the couturier’s favourite artists, for the brands  60th anniversary

Galliano’s lawyer cited his struggles with drugs, alcohol and work, noting that he was designing up to 32 collections each year.

Additionally, he was ordered to pay three plaintiffs and five antidiscrimination groups 1 euro each in damages and a combined 16,500 euros in costs.

Face of Dior, Natalie Portman, was among those outraged by his outburst more than two decades ago.

At the time, the Oscar-winning actress said: ‘In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr Galliano in any way.

‘I hope at the very least these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful.’

Galliano consistently maintained that he is not anti-Semitic or racist but acknowledged struggling with addiction to alcohol, Valium and sleeping tablets, leading him to seek rehabilitation.

It seems that this was the tip of the iceberg for Galliano, who had a string of drunken indiscretions to his name.

Years earlier, coming off the high of another Fashion Week, Galliano stripped naked and spent four hours in a lift at The Ritz, telling guests who tried to enter that he was a lion, while growling at them.

Inside John Galliano’s career

As a student of St Martin’s College of Art (now Central Saint Martins), Galliano garnered attention for his degree collection, heavily influenced by revolutionary France.

His graduate collection, Les Incroyables, was immediately purchased by the fashion boutique Browns and displayed in its South Molton Street windows the following day.

Galliano founded his eponymous label with long-term collaborators Amanda Harlech, then a stylist with Harpers and Queen, and milliner Stephen Jones.

The St Martin’s School of Art graduate won four British Fashion Designer of the Year awards and was celebrated for his unconventional work, which frequently challenged the industry.

Initially, financial support was provided by Johan Brun. When this arrangement concluded, Danish entrepreneur Ole Peder Bertelsen, owner of the company Aguecheek, which was also supporting Katharine Hamnett, took over control.

However, this agreement ended in 1988, influencing Galliano’s decision to relocate to Paris the following year in search of financial backing.

The designer secured the backing of Faycal Amor, owner of fashion brand Plein Sud, who invited him to set up his base in Paris.

Galliano’s first show was presented in 1989 as part of Paris Fashion Week. But the financial agreement with Amor was short-lived and ended in 1993, resulting in the designer’s absence from that season.

With the help of American Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour and André Leon Talley, then European correspondent at Vanity Fair, Galliano was introduced to Portuguese socialite and fashion patron São Schlumberger, as well as financial backers of venture firm Arbela Inc, John Bult and Mark Rice.

‘Of course, I’d heard of him. But it really wasn’t until Andre and I started to help him with his shows in Paris that he and I became… friends,’ Wintour explains in High & Low.

‘It isn’t often you meet a great designer. If you think of the Brit designers that have really changed the way women dress, or look, or how we think about fashion… but immediately when you saw what John was doing, you realised that he was one of them, so we had to help him.’

This partnership provided Galliano with the financial backing and social endorsement necessary for establishing credibility in Paris.

His next collection – in which Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss modelled for free – played a pivotal role in the development of Galliano as a fashion house, and is regarded as a ‘fashion moment’ in high fashion circles.

In 1995, Galliano was named the designer of Givenchy by Bernard Arnault, owner of luxury goods conglomerate LVMH, marking the first time an Englishman took the helm of one of France’s luxury houses.

While the news sent shockwaves through the fashion world, it did not seem to affect the supremely confident designer.

His long-time collaborator, Amanda Harlech, once described him by saying: ‘I did only once and I can only compare it to being hit by a massive surfing wave. His indifference was absolute.’

Galliano showcased his first couture show for Givenchy at the Stade de France, receiving widespread acclaim from the media. Additionally, a number of designs were licenced to Vogue Patterns.

In 1996, he made the transition to Dior under LVMH, with Alexander McQueen stepping into the role at Givenchy.

‘Something evoked in me, I felt like Rocky,’ Galliano enthuses in the documentary. ‘I thought I’m really going to go for this.’

Galliano’s assurance won him a roster of celebrity supporters, including actresses Charlize Theron and Marion Cotillard, who frequently donned his designs.

One of his first dresses for Dior was worn by Diana, Princess of Wales at the fashion house’s 50th anniversary party in New York.

The dress, described by critics as an ‘unsupported petticoat’, caused a stir and made the front pages of several newspapers.

In 2001, Galliano was made a Commander of the British Empire for his services to the fashion industry, and received his award from the Queen at Buckingham Palace that November.

For the investiture, Galliano – with long blond hair and pencil-thin moustache – wore a traditional morning suit, eschewing a shirt.

‘I was surprised when I was awarded a CBE,’ he said. ‘It’s one of the greatest honours I’ve ever had – I’m very proud.’

Another notable career moment was creating a showgirl costume for Kylie Minogue to don during the Showgirl, The Greatest Hits Tour in Europe, 2005.

Additionally, Galliano designed Kate Moss’ dress for her wedding to Jamie Hince in 2011, as per the mode’s request during his tenure at Dior.

Recalling the big day, the designer says: ‘Before she came out, she held my hand, she was shaking and said, “Who am I?” I said, “You’re fabulous and he’s about to discover your want past”. And the rest was just Kate.’

The dress featured an understated silhouette with a figure-hugging fit and intricate golden paillette embroidery, reflecting the delicate couture touch synonymous with the designer’s work at Dior.

The hotel called his office in Paris, who offered to cover the bills of any guests who had become inconvenienced.

Now admitting his demons, Galliano begins the documentary by saying: ‘I’m going to tell you everything’ – from dealing with his devout Catholic parents’ horrified reaction to his homosexuality to his abuse of Valium, bromides, amphetamines and sleeping pills.

‘I was committing suicide, slowly,’ he says.

He also revealed struggles with his workload and depression following the deaths of his father and close friends Steven Robinson and Alexander McQueen.

Despite his explanations, the fallout from Galliano’s rant resulted in the termination of his 15-year tenure as creative director at Dior – where he was earning £4 million-a-year.

The designer was exiled from fashion – yet only temporarily – and he designed Kate Moss’ wedding dress the same year, calling the project his ‘creative rehab’.

In an interview with WWD, Kevin Macdonald recalled being in New York when videos of Galliano’s anti-Semantic outburst emerged online.

‘I was kind of repulsed by him and the way he looked,’ the film director said.

‘That’s a part of why I felt a personal repulsion, but at the same time, I’m always interested in films about ambiguous characters who you’re not quite sure what to think of them.’

A number of John Galliano’s friends and former employees share their thoughts on-screen, including Anna Wintour, Naomi Campbell, Charlize Theron, Amanda Harlech and Kate Moss.

‘We’re both shy and a bit awkward, ’til we’ve had a drink,’ Moss says, chuckling.

The supermodel starred in Galliano’s first show in Paris, admitting ‘I was so nervous’.

She goes on to explain that Galliano, now a good friend, taught her how to walk down the catwalk: ‘He said put your hips and your pelvis forwards… and lean back.

‘No one gives you direction like John, there was always a story in every show. It’s fantasy, and that’s what fashion should be.’

‘He’d say, “You’re a princess and you’ve just escaped the castle… and the walls are after you. You’ve got to run Kate, run!”‘

Edward Enninful, former editor-in-chief of British Vogue, adds: ‘For other designers, they were just models. But with John, they became actresses.

‘He would take them on a journey, through countries, through time. And they would come up feeling so enthused, so excited.’

There is also an appearance from Philippe Virgitti, the target of the designer’s anti-Semitic comments.

During the 2011 court hearing in Paris, Virgitti stated: ‘I don’t think he’s racist or anti-Semitic. I just think he’s very ill.’

However, in the documentary, he explains how Galliano’s verbal attack has negatively impacted his life – and does not forgive him.

Galliano insists that he apologised to Virgitti, but Virgitti denies this.

‘There is no real explanation for the designer’s behaviour. His psychiatrist believes he looked, at random, for a hateful stereotype in our culture,’ he says.

Meanwhile, Sidney Toledano, the Jewish boss of Dior, suggests that anti-Semitism could have been weaved into his Catholic upbringing.

The film also shows a clip of the designer the day after his father’s funeral in 2003, where Galliano’s voice appears slurred, and his pupils gigantic, as he prepares for his next fashion show.

Following a two-month stay at Cottonwood Rehab Clinic in Arizona, Galliano briefly joined Oscar de la Renta in New York.

The move was reportedly arranged by Anna Wintour, American Vogue editor-in-chief, and Jonathan Newhouse, chairman of Conde Nast International.

Mr Newhouse is also said to have put Galliano in contact with Rabbi Barry Marcus, who, at the time, was the senior minister of Central Synagogue in London.

Rabbi Marcus educated the designer in antisemitism, introduced him to a Holocaust survivor and invited him to services at his synagogue.

‘Over time, we built up a relationship and I’m absolutely satisfied that to brand him as an antisemite would be an injustice,’ the rabbi explained.

‘His knowledge of Jews and Judaism was actually very limited.’

In 2014, John Galliano was appointed creative director of Belgian brand Maison Margiela, which described him as one of the ‘greatest undisputed talents of all time’.

‘Margiela is ready for a new charismatic creative soul,’ said Renzo Rosso, president of the label’s parent company OTB, in a statement.

‘John Galliano is one of the greatest, undisputed talents of all time. A unique, exceptional couturier for a Maison that always challenged and innovated the world of fashion.

‘I look forward to his return to create that fashion dream that only he can create, and wish him to here find his new home.’

Galliano, who oversees the design of all Margiela lines, including couture and women’s ready-to-wear, presented his first collection for the house during Paris Couture Week in January 2015.

Marking the first time Rihanna wore Margiela to the Met Gala, Galliano created the singer’s iconic Pope-inspired ensemble for the 2018 event, following the theme, Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.

The extraordinary look, featuring a heavily beaded robe, matching mitre and mini dress, referenced Galliano’s Dior Couture 2001 collection, which was inspired by papal regalia.

The release of High & Low coincides with a catwalk comeback as Galliano made a triumphant return to Paris Couture Fashion Week with Maison Margiela’s Spring/Summer 2024 collection.

In January, Galliano transformed the left bank underbelly of Paris’ Pont Alexandre III bridge into a 1920s dive bar, illuminated by a subdued glow from spotlights.

The Artisan collection, which showcased unique fabric techniques and porcelain-effect make-up, earned the designer a thunderous, five-minute standing ovation.

Now a decade sober, Galliano, who was once recognised for strutting down the catwalk at the end of a show, has adopted a low-profile approach and no longer makes an appearance.

Galliano told Macdonald that he wasn’t expecting to be forgiven following the documentary, but instead to be ‘a little more understood’.

The collection received worldwide critical acclaim, with Anna Wintour telling The Times ‘the Maison Margiela couture show captured so many people’s imaginations’ and ‘it was a reminder that when John’s work soars, it lifts fashion higher.’

If the late Queen Elizabeth seemed outwardly unaffected by the turmoil surrounding Megxit and her grandson’s criticism of the royal family, perhaps it shouldn’t have come as a surprise.

The Queen had seen it all before – as Ingrid Seward explains in her new biography of Elizabeth and King Charles III. And one episode from 30 years ago especially stands out.

Marina Ogilvy, who rebelled against her privileged upbringing, was named Rear of the Year in 1991

Just married, Marina Mowatt, daughter of Princess Alexandra and Sir Angus Ogilvy and husband Paul in 1990

That was the moment when Marina Ogilvy, a great-granddaughter of George V and a niece of the Duke of Kent, decided to get started in colorful style.

As the daughter of the late Sir Angus and Alexandra Ogilvy, Marina is extremely well-connected.

Alexandra’s brothers are Prince Edward and Michael of Kent; the three siblings were cousins of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Marina is also a goddaughter of King Charles III.

However, in 1989, Marina had started a relationship with Paul Mowatt, a photographer that her parents unfortunately did not approve of.

She became pregnant – and left a place of study at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music to move in with her lover.

“Marina’s parents were furious when confronted with the news,” Seward writes in My Mother and I – the inside story of the king and our late queen.

‘Their disappointment in their talented daughter was compounded by concerns about the effect Marina’s behavior would have on the royal family.

“According to Marina, her mother told her to have an abortion or get married.”

Instead, Seward says, Marina sold her story and made a number of “hysterical” accusations, including that she had been cut off by her parents and kicked out of her home.

She appeared on television and begged her parents to contact her.

And in 1990, she posed for a magazine wearing a rubber jumpsuit and a crown, surrounded by corgis.

“This,” she claimed at one point, “is the dark side of the royal family that we are experiencing now.

“The other side of the postcard is for tourists only.”

Marina and Paul Mowatt divorced in 1997 after seven years of marriage and two children, Zenouska and Christian.

Life became hard for Marina – at least by royal standards.

At one point it was revealed that she was dependent on state benefits, including help with the rent of her grace-and-favour cottage in Windsor Great Park, prompting expressions of concern from Prince Charles.

However, over the years, Marina mended her relationships and returned to her maiden name and today, at the age of 57, she is a teacher and musician.

She attended the recent memorial service for the late King Constantine of Greece, along with the other royals, sitting next to her mother in the front row.

If she seems to have little interest in publicity, who can blame her?

As Seward puts it, Marina’s youthful defiance “had echoes of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex some thirty years later.”

‘The queen made no secret of her displeasure.

‘Several years later, Lady Elizabeth Anson was going through the Queen’s Christmas card list with her when they came across Marina’s name.

“I don’t think so,” said the queen, drawing a line through it.

Crown Prince Leka II has requested police intervention following an alleged incident of domestic violence involving his ex-wife and ex-father-in-law.

On Tuesday, a video emerged online of Leka, 41, allegedly involved in a physical altercation with Princess Elia, 41, and her father, Gjergj Polikron Zaharia, 73.

It comes two months after the couple, who share a three-year-old daughter, Princess Geraldine, announced the end of their marriage, saying the union had “lost its function”.

The palace issued a statement after a clip of the fight surfaced online, claiming Leka was “physically attacked with strong objects by his ex-wife and ex-father-in-law” and handed over the video to police as evidence.

Elia broke her silence on the “terrible” conflict on Wednesday, claiming that its involvement in the fighting was merely an attempt to stop it, according to Albanian daily news.

Crown Prince Leka and Princess Elia have sent shockwaves across Albania after a video of the couple allegedly getting into a physical altercation with Elia’s 73-year-old father surfaced online. Seen in 2022 with their daughter Princess Geraldine

The glamorous mother-of-one claimed she returned home to discover Prince Leka had a fight with her 73-year-old father.

“It is a very difficult situation for me and my family because it is not easy to return home and see Leka trying to abuse my 73-year-old father,” she wrote.

“The conflict has nothing to do with me, except that I tried to stop it. I will follow the judicial path before anything else,” she added.

The Albanian Royal Court similarly issued a statement on the conflict via social media channels, accusing the police of leaking the images.

The statement read: “Prince Leka was physically attacked with strong objects by his ex-wife and ex-father-in-law on the afternoon of March 5 and the videos of this moment have been made public on social networks.

“The videos were only sent to the police station by Prince Leka ll Zogu as material evidence of the violence inflicted on him. But despite being considered secret, these materials, along with the statement, circulated widely on social networks and in the media, broadcasting unpleasant images and violent content.

“The Royal Court expresses its deep disappointment with law enforcement agencies who we suspect have violated the right to anonymity by disseminating third-party videos.

‘The Royal Court also requests the intervention of the police and relevant institutions to remove these images from social networks and media.’

MailOnline has contacted the Albanian royal court for comment.

It comes after the former couple, who married in 2016, declared their separation through an official statement shared on Instagram.

Despite laying claim to a now-defunct throne after the dissolution of the Albanian monarchy in 1943, the prince and his glamorous wife had captured the hearts of the public from the moment they tied the knot eight years ago.

The lavish ceremony was attended by more than twenty royal families from around the world, including Prince Michael of Kent, King Charles’s great-nephew.

In a translation statement, a spokesperson claimed Princess Geraldine remained the center of her parents’ attention, while also pleading with “well-wishers” to respect the family’s privacy.

The message read: ‘Hello friends and well-wishers, through this message I officially inform you that Prince Leka and Elia Zaharia have agreed to end their marriage.

“Since marriage has lost its function, they saw a way to resolve it by mutual consent by initiating the necessary legal procedures.

‘Despite the confidence in the institution of the family, Prince Leka believes that the values of mutual respect and understanding will form the basis of the relationship in its continuity, which will have as its driving force the growth and education of Princess Geraldine!!!

‘[Her] The girl’s spiritual and physical well-being will remain the focus of their attention, committed to ensuring a happy and safe life for Geraldine.”

The statement also said the prince would make no further comment at this time – and asked that his ‘right to privacy in this matter would be respected’.

The couple, who married in 2016 in the European nation’s second ever royal wedding and the first since the end of communism, welcomed their daughter in 2020 at the Queen Geraldine Maternity Hospital in Tirana.

They named their daughter Geraldine – a meaningful tribute to her paternal great-grandmother, Queen Geraldine, who died on October 22, 2002, 18 years before her namesake’s birth.

Queen Geraldine was married to King Zog I, Albania’s first monarch after it gained independence from the Ottoman Empire, but fled his homeland in 1939 when Italian fascists occupied the Balkan state.

Despite the monarchy being dissolved, Zog’s son, King Leka I, remained head of the House of Zogu and claimed the throne until his death in 2011 and was succeeded by his only son, Leka II.

The crown prince, who attended the Royal Military College Sandhurst and has worked as an adviser to the Albanian president, took over from his father as head of the House of Zogu and titular king of the Albanians.

Since Leka II currently has no sons, his current heir presumptive is Skënder Zogu, his first cousin once removed.

Leka II and Elia, who were engaged in Paris in 2010, also chaired the Queen Geraldine Foundation.

The prince has also worked as an advisor at the Albanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Interior and the Albanian President’s Office, while the princess works at the Albanian National Theater.

Albania’s royal family was expelled from the country in 1939 after it was invaded by Italian fascists.

After World War II, when the communists took over the country, King Zog and his family were considered traitors and completely stripped of power and erased from the history books.

After their exile, the Albanian royal family spent time in Greece and Turkey before settling in England, where they briefly lived at The Ritz in London.

King Zog and his family then moved to Egypt before the monarch spent the rest of his life in France.

The Greek royal family presented a united front today as they arrived at the memorial service for King Constantine in Windsor.

Crown Princess Olympia, 27, looked glamorous in a fitted square-neck navy dress and a black oversized coat as she arrived at St. George’s Chapel with her brothers.

Her father, Crown Prince Pavlos, 56, opted for a navy double-breasted suit and matching tie for the occasion.

Crown Princess Marie-Chantal, 55, looked suitably chic in a burgundy dress and matching shawl.

The mother of four completed her ensemble with a pair of matching suede heels and a black leather clutch.

Meanwhile, Pavlos’ brother Philoppos and his wife Nina arrived arm in arm and dressed in navy blue.

Princess Nina opted for a navy blue co-ord set with a peplum skirt and matching headband.

Today’s service will be attended by several of Europe’s ruling houses, including the former King of Spain.

The Prince of Wales, 41, was expected to give a reading at his late godfather’s service but pulled out at the last minute due to personal reasons.

William called the Greek royal family to apologize, while Kensington Palace confirmed the Princess of Wales is “doing well” as she continues her recovery from abdominal surgery at home.

Today’s service in St. George’s Chapel is held in honor of King Charles’ close friend and great-nephew, Constantine II, the former ruler of Greece.

Greece’s last king died on January 10 last year at the age of 82 after months of illness – more than 50 years after he was exiled in a military coup.

The late king – the only son of King Paul and Queen Frederica – was also the Duke of Edinburgh’s cousin and Prince William’s godfather.

Prince Andrew was spotted with his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson at the Thanksgiving service.

It is understood the Duke of York is attending as a member of the British Royal Family and was invited by the Greek Royal Family.

King Constantine’s funeral was attended by Princess Anne and her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, in January 2023.

Constantine became king of Greece in 1964, but was ousted from the throne when the monarchy was abolished in 1973.

King Charles is not expected to attend his memorial service in Windsor after retiring from public life following his cancer diagnosis.

Camilla’s role in the agency will see her take charge again as she tries to take the pressure off her husband.

Members of the royal family have rallied behind the king, with Prince William returning to his duties after spending time caring for his wife, Princess Kate.

Due to a separate health crisis, the Princess of Wales was admitted to the London Clinic for a planned abdominal operation, and will be unable to fulfill royal duties until at least Easter.

Last month, Greece’s royal family put on a somber display as they attended a memorial service to mark one year since the death of King Constantine.

He died “of a stroke”, local media reported, after several hospital admissions in the previous months.

High-profile royals including Constantine’s son Crown Prince Pavlos and Dowager Queen Anne Marie attended a private ceremony at the former summer palace of Tatoi, just outside Athens.

Last year, Crown Princess Olympia split from her boyfriend of three years Peregrine Pearson – shortly before the aristocrat was pictured kissing Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner.

Elizabeth Debicki shocked fans on Sunday when she accepted a Screen Actors Guild Award for her role as Princess Diana in The Crown.

The 33-year-old, who won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series, was quick to point out a bizarre detail about her outfit.

As she collected her award, the Tenet star revealed her heels had gotten caught on her designer Armani dress – and she was now barefoot.

‘Really, I didn’t expect this. People say that and I’m really not. I don’t really know what to say, so I’m just going to roll with it. “I don’t have any shoes on,” she began.

She then joked that since she didn’t have an acceptance speech prepared, she would just say whatever came to mind.

‘I really, really love my job. About a week ago I had the flu and this is what happens when I improve.

“To my beautiful Crown family and so many of you here tonight. It’s a pleasure to work with you. This job is such a gift.

‘It’s my mother’s birthday. Happy birthday, mom, thank you so much,” she added.

‘I had my shoes on, but they weren’t completely on. I didn’t check myself because I didn’t expect to win a prize. So I didn’t put my shoes on all the way,” Elizabeth later told Extra TV.

“When I got on stage they were flying all over the place, so I kicked them away.”

She beat out Jennifer Aniston for The Morning Show, Bella Ramsey for The Last of Us, Keri Russell for The Diplomat and Sarah Snook in Succession to take home the coveted award.

Debicki was dazzled when she arrived at the SAG Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Saturday.

The Crown actress looked as elegant as ever in a light blue sequin and lace dress with a backless design.

The delicate custom Armani Privé number featured mesh panels and a shimmering overlay with a jewel-encrusted neckline.

After a tough 118-day strike, the Screen Actors Guild honored the top performers in film and television at the 30th annual SAG Awards.

'I did not expect this. People say that and I'm really not. I don't really know what to say, so I'm just going to roll with it.
