An influencer has sparked outrage online after apparently using a live crab in a photo shoot.

Images circulating on social media show a crab hanging in the air while being used in a photo shoot.

In the video, shared to Instagram, an apparently live crab can be seen dangling by its claw from a model’s shoe.

A photographer using professional equipment is seen crouching on the side of the road to take pictures of the crustacean hanging from the shoe.

The crab then falls to the ground with its claw stuck to the shoe and scurries away to the side of the sidewalk.

The model is then seen standing upright as the photographer walks over and uses his own foot to loosen the crab’s discarded claw from the shoe.

The influencer can be heard apparently saying “oh my God” repeatedly as the photos are taken, and squeaking after the claw is released.

Crabs can naturally release their own claws in response to stress, danger or injury as a defense mechanism, and can regrow their claws.

The video has sparked outrage on social media, with many labeling the apparent use of a live crab in the photoshoot as “cruel” and “disgusting.”

They accused the pair – whose identities are not known – of ‘animal cruelty’ and angrily said: ‘Humans are disgusting in their disrespect for other beings’.

“Can we just leave the animals alone please,” said another as another intervened: “This immediately pissed me off.”

“This is disgusting,” said another, with another adding: “Imagine losing your arm for someone’s photo and it’s like oops, oh well.”

“That really pisses me off,” someone else wrote, while another said, “People are evil.”

The video quickly went viral, racking up more than 2,550 shares and nearly 500 comments as people shared their anger.

It's absolutely the most important thing in spas, darling – and designed to care for abused elephants.

One such beneficiary of the giant jet pool is Phoolkali, who looks at peace with the world while being soothed by cooling water.

The 67-year-old, whose name means flower bud, is blind in one eye and weak in her legs after decades of begging on the streets for her previous owners.

She is one of hundreds of animal patients at India's first elephant hospital in Agra, near the Taj Mahal.

The complex features a large hydrotherapy pool to relieve pain, and the latest mobile X-ray equipment, ultrasound and laser therapy are put to good use by experienced veterinarians to diagnose and treat fractures and wounds.

'The elephants love the pool so much. You can see tears of joy in their eyes after years of cruelty,” said Kartick Satyanarayan, chief executive of the charity Wildlife SOS, which runs the hospital with the help of donations from Britain.

The charity was founded in 1995, when a group of individuals determined to preserve India's rich natural heritage began operating a rescue center from a small garage in New Delhi.

According to the charity's website, their goal was simple: to help wildlife in need and extend India's core value of the right to freedom and dignity to the realm of animals.

Today, the charity has evolved to actively protect India's precious wildlife, conserve habitats, study biodiversity, conduct research and create alternative and sustainable livelihoods for former poaching communities, or communities who hunt for their livelihoods depend on wildlife.

It is the largest wildlife rescue organization in India and runs twelve wildlife rescue centers across the country.

Annie Kilner’s sister has condemned Lauryn Goodman for her ongoing ‘torment and cruelty’ after Kyle Walker was confirmed as the father of her baby daughter.

Walker’s two-year marriage to Kilner is in ruins after the Manchester City and England full back confirmed he had fathered the child with influencer Goodman out of wedlock.

The footballer had already welcomed a son, three-year old Kairo, with Goodman in 2020 during an earlier separation from Kilner.

The couple share three sons and the brunette, who met Walker when they were teenagers, is now seven months pregnant with their fourth.

Taking to Instagram on Monday evening, Kilner’s sister Sian slammed Goodman for continuing to antagonise the mother-of-three despite being aware of her pregnancy.

She wrote: ‘@lauryngoodman91 When does your torment end? My sister who is now 7 months pregnant, has faced your cruelty for almost 5 years now.

‘What’s your goal? To see how much stress you can put on a pregnant woman? To create a false victim narrative around what you did? You clearly lack empathy but this level of evil is out of control and harms everyone – especially the children.’

Rubbishing Goodman’s claim that she and Walker enjoyed a loving relationship – an allegation the footballer denies – she added: ‘Stop accusing others: your true self is revealed. The so-called ‘loving relationship’ is a facade.. It’s not fooling anyone so why don’t you just give us all a break and stop.

‘Also, He has one sugar, Nestle Coffee Mate and semi-skimmed milk. But that’s the coffee you get at home… Not the ones in hotels or Air B&BS.’

England and Manchester City footballer Walker has called in lawyers to hit back at the ‘wild and untrue’ stories reality star Goodman has been promoting.

Furious Goodman had attacked Walker for playing down their relationship which she said was ‘intimate and loving’ by branding the England ace ‘deluded’.

The reality star was responding to claims in a new interview where Walker says he and Lauryn ‘were never in a relationship’ and suggested the two children they share were conceived via one-night stands.

Now a spokesman for  the Manchester City defender has said he is consulting lawyers in order to end the stream of ‘untrue stories’ that Goodman was bringing forward.

The spokesman said: ‘Kyle has spoken fully and honestly about his mistakes and the true situation involving Lauryn.

‘He has instructed lawyers and will not be making any further comment on the wild and untrue stories she is promoting in the media in search of self publicity and financial gain.’

Walker is desperately trying to salvage his marriage to Kilner, the mother of his other three children, who kicked him out of their £2.7million home following a series of cheating scandals.

But after reading Walker’s version of events and his attempts to downplay their links, Lauryn has responded by saying the pair enjoyed a ‘long-standing, intimate, loving and affectionate relationship.’

Her spokesman told MailOnline: ‘Lauryn is aware of an interview Kyle Walker, the father of her two young children, has given to a newspaper today.

While Walker insisted the affair was not a proper relationship, Goodman was quick to claim the footballer was lying, taking to Instagram with a post about 'pathological narcissists'

‘While she does not want to get into the details of everything he has said at this stage, she is disappointed by his deluded version of events – which is dramatically different to her own recollection of their long-standing, intimate, loving and affectionate relationship.

‘Having read back through many years of messages sent between them to assure herself that her memory is accurate, she is confused as to how he has seemingly forgotten their many highly personal conversations and memories made with their children as a family.

‘The story that he is putting out to the public is not the reality.

‘He is using his wealth and influence as a high level footballer to hire a major PR firm and conduct interviews depicting a narrative which is simply untrue.’

A spokeswoman for Kyle told Mailonline: ‘Kyle has spoken fully and honestly about his mistakes and the true situation involving Lauryn.

‘He has instructed lawyers and will not be making any further comment on the wild and untrue stories she is promoting in the media in search of self publicity and financial gain.’

Kyle is currently living alone in a £3m property while Annie, who is pregnant with their fourth child, continues to look after their three children Riaan, Roman and Reign.

Speaking to The Sun, Kyle issued a grovelling apology to his wife admitting he made ‘idiot choices and idiot decisions’.

He said: ‘What I’ve done is horrible and I take full responsibility.

‘I made idiot choices and idiot decisions. I can’t begin to think or imagine what Annie is going through. I’ve tried to ask her but there’s pain and hurt.

‘The man that’s meant to love, care and be there for her, did this.

‘There have been days in this ordeal where I’ve just wanted to curl up in a ball and go to sleep.

‘The only person to blame is me. I have roles and responsibilities that I’m aware of and I’ve made stupid choices. But I need to own up to my mistakes — I owe it to everyone.

‘My actions have caused a lot of pain to a lot of people. I’m sorry because, as a family, this isn’t meant to happen.’

Kyle went on to reveal his pain at not being able to see his three children with Annie and saying goodnight to them on FaceTime, rather than face-to-face.

He also recalled his conversation with Annie regarding the first love child he conceived with Lauryn, Kairo, who was born in April 2020.

Calling her from City’s training ground, Kyle says: ‘I’ve got to tell you something. I had a one-night stand with someone.’

After naming Lauryn, he confirmed: ‘I’ve got to tell you something else,’ before adding: ‘She says she’s pregnant and it’s mine’.’

Annie booted him out of the home they shared together but later took him back for the sake of the children, saying: ‘How can I hate the man my kids love so much?’

But in early 2022, Kyle saw Lauryn in London while undergoing groin surgery and claims they had a second one-night stand, resulting in the birth of their three-month-old daughter, which resulted in Annie sparking an official separation.

Although Lauryn insists she and Kyle had numerous intimate liaisons.

On having a second baby with Lauryn, Kyle said: ‘It wasn’t intentional or premeditated but I slept with her. A lot was going on. It’s not an excuse. I’d ruptured my groin, I had a World Cup to get fighting fit for.’

He continued: ‘Lauryn told me at the end of October, early November. I remember going upstairs at the training ground when I got a phone call from her. I was with the physio at the time. I nearly fainted. I was just white. He said to me, ‘What’s the matter?’, and I wouldn’t tell him because I needed to process it myself.

‘I asked if we could scrap the session and he just said, ‘Fine’.

‘I went into survival mode. I was like, ‘What can I do now every day to make sure that I go home to Annie and the boys?’.

When I was dealing with all this, I was still able to play football. My mum and my dad and my friends have asked me, ‘How?’.

‘But it was my release. It was 90 minutes, 100 minutes, two hours if you want to call it that, where I didn’t have to look at that phone or listen to demands from a certain someone.

‘I’ve tried my utmost to keep this under wraps, not because I’m embarrassed or ashamed . . . I try to be a private person.

‘I take full ownership of the choices that I’ve made that have hurt other people.’

‘No one’s put a gun to my head and said that I’ve got to do these things. I have done it by my own accord and I won’t blame anything or anyone else in this situation.

‘It was me that did it, me and Lauryn. We both did this.

‘If I could go back and do it a different way, I would. I knew what was coming. The second child had been born and the deadline was set. It scared me.’

Killner was last spotted heading to a Cheshire gym on January 19, still not wearing her wedding ring, as she continued to take time out of the relationship

Kyle admits Lauryn’s pregnancy was ‘the straw the broke the camel’s back’ in his marriage with Annie, who has also ditched her wedding ring.

Announcing their separation earlier this month on Instagram, Annie said: ‘Sadly, after many years of marriage and three wonderful children together, I have decided to take some time away from Kyle.

‘I do not wish to comment on the position any further. For now, I ask that the privacy of myself and my three young children be respected during this difficult time.’

Kyle and Annie’s relationship was marred with allegations surrounding the England star’s infidelity.

He had a fling with Ex on the Beach star Laura Brown in April 2019 and there were claims he held a sex party in lockdown with escorts and shared texts with a Playboy model while away on international duty.

There was also a vehement Facebook denial eight years ago that he was in any way linked to an explicit and sickening video involving a woman.

After Kyle was caught on CCTV in a bar apparently flashing friends and fondling a mystery blonde woman’s breasts last year, his wife famously posted on social media: ‘No matter how good you are to people, it won’t make them good to you.’

Naomi Osaka's Grand Slam comeback started just after 9:30 pm local time on Monday with a slow and deliberate walk across the Rod Laver Arena court in a technicolor warm-up jacket that demanded attention, just as she always did.

Within two minutes of the start she had two aces. A minute later, she hit her left thigh with her left hand as she waited to receive the serve from her opponent, Caroline Garcia, just as she had always done, especially on this court, where she has won two of her four Grand Prix . Slam titles. The woman who not so long ago was the heart of her sport gave everything again, the biggest comeback in a tournament full of them.

This Australian Open, at least for the first week, was always going to be all about comebacks with bold names.

Osaka, back after more than a year of injuries, pregnancy and caring for her six-month-old daughter Shai. Rafael Nadal, whose comeback from hip surgery ended after three tune-up matches and never reached Melbourne. Angelique Kerber, like Osaka, former world number 1 and new mother. Caroline Wozniacki, who took the next step after retiring last summer after more than three years and having two children.

Denis Shapovalov, only recently a young and rising star from Canada, was here, not so young anymore at 24 and certainly no longer standing after six months of recovery from a tear in his patellar tendon. Amanda Anisimova from the United States returns after a year of taking care of her mental health. Emma Raducanu of Great Britain, the 2021 US Open champion, is back after surgery on two wrists and one ankle. She will play on Tuesday against American veteran Shelby Rogers, who is not a well-known name but is sidelined after six months with an abdominal injury.

On Day 1, Anisimova showed the promise and strength that once made her seem destined for deep runs at many Grand Slams. Wozniacki, the former world No. 1, claimed the kind of sure victory that made it seem like anything was possible.

And then on Day 2 came reminders of how challenging comebacks can be in this heartless game.

Andy Murray showed they can be cautionary tales too, stumbling and wincing through the final games of what may have been his final match at the Australian Open after five frustrating years trying to rediscover his former greatness following hip surgery.

After a daunting and decisive 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 defeat against Tomas Martin Etcheverry of Argentina, Murray, also a former world No. 1, had some words of caution about the emotional toll of a comeback on anyone trying to return after an extended time away from the game, especially the very best.

“It's really hard,” said Murray, who also returned from back surgery earlier in his career. “It's not common for players to come back eight, nine months or a year after the game and immediately start feeling great. It takes time.

“For me it never really came back this time, so when you were playing at the top of the game it's hard to change your perspective on how you should perform and how you should do it. I had the highest expectations, and a lot of players coming back, like Osaka and Wozniacki, Kerber, Rafa… they've all played at the top of the game. It's difficult when you come back and you're not at the same level.”

There's nothing like a comeback in tennis, a game that essentially punishes players for their absence.

Ranking points disappear. There is no job protection like that available to an athlete in a team sport, with an organization committed to managing rehab, if only to save the value from a contract. There are no practice starts without consequences in the minor leagues to ease the transition to the top competition.

For older players, the match, the training and the matches all hurt more.

“I played for so many years and was able to push my body to the limit almost every day for that entire time,” Wozniacki said. “Now I just really have to be more careful about what I do and how I do things.”

Usually there is suffering, through long months of more losses than wins and trying to rediscover the feeling and timing and the freedom to play again without worrying whether the next shot will end up being the last.

You see so many guys struggling when they come back,” Shapovalov said Monday after his straight-set loss to Jakub Mensik of the Czech Republic, an 18-year-old ranked 142nd in the world.

Shapovalov said he experienced some dark moments in recent months, moments when he felt like he might have played his last tennis match, and that he finally started to feel healthy enough to compete toward the end of last year. Now he had come to the southern hemisphere and lost two of the two matches.

Shapovalov's comeback also ended in the first round (Phil Walter/Getty Images)

His friend James Blake, himself a former top 10 player, said it could take eight to nine games for Shapovalov to start feeling like himself again. Sebastian Korda, the American who is several months into his comeback after a serious wrist injury he first suffered in last year's quarter-finals, said on Monday he was still learning to play again.

“Every training you were hesitating and always thinking about it,” Korda said after a five-set victory against Vit Kopriva. “There's still a lot that hasn't really come back.”

Shapovalov did not want to take that scenario into account.

“I don't feel like I'm a guy who pursues mediocre tennis or pursues mediocre results,” he said. “It's definitely something I'm thinking about if I can't get 100 percent back that I wouldn't play again.”

Osaka and her coach, Wim Fissette, said in December they were not concerned about her results in Australia. Osaka started practicing in October, just three months after giving birth. These first tournaments would give them information about how far she had come and how far she still had to go. The goal, Fissette said, is to be in top form this summer during the hard-court swing in North America that culminates with the US Open, a tournament she has won twice.

Now they know she still has a long way to go, at least to reach the top.

Osaka lost her opening match of an Australian Open for the first time (Cameron Spencer/Getty Images)

On the way to the court, she tapped her name on the wall symbolizing her championships, an ancient ritual. But in Garcia, Osaka faced No. 16, who has been a mainstay of the top 10 for most of the last year and a half, is a big hitter and is not a player anyone would want to face in their first Grand Slam match in 15 months . For most of the match, she did to Osaka what Osaka did to everyone else: she took the initiative, stepped onto the court and let them deal with the kind of power and pace that put players back on their heels and struggling to reach their goal . strings on the ball before it passed them.

There were moments when Osaka was able to pass the test, stand on the baseline and match the power, but not enough, not yet. Comebacks are difficult and tennis rarely indulges in sentimentality.

She served 11 aces, but Garcia had 13. She won 78 percent of the points on her first serve; Garcia won 89 percent. She lost her serve only once and faced only three break points; Garcia never lost her serve and never faced a break point.

She pushed Garcia to a tiebreak in the second set, but lost five straight points to end the match as she was unable to chase down Garcia's rocket serves, and her night ended when a backhand hit the top of the net and failed to clear.

Garcia skipped and jumped across the court when it was ready, knowing how well she would have had to play to survive a tough test to start the first Grand Slam of the year.

“She's been through a lot, I'm just really happy to see her again,” Garcia said of Osaka. “Six months after giving birth, she is playing great.”

Osaka said she was grateful for the past few weeks and having played three tough matches that assured her she could compete with the top competition, but was a little sad about the results.

“I'm so foolish to think I could have won the tournament,” she said. That delusion “is what allows me to win tournaments.”

Not this time. Maybe down the street. A comeback is difficult.

Nearly 100 exotic animals have been seized from a roadside zoo in Virginia amid claims the animals were being abused.

Search warrants executed at the Natural Bridge Zoo in Rockbridge County show that 89 live animals were taken, while another 28 deceased animals were removed.

The arrest warrants were issued in connection with the care of and cruelty to animals.

Dozens of animals were found with various health problems. These appeared to live in ‘filthy’ habitats, with many not receiving proper care or sufficient food and water.

The order cites several examples, including deer that were seen fighting each other while visitors fed them food in a pipe system.

On another occasion, a bloated dead goat appeared to have gone unnoticed by staff for more than an hour.

Other live animals taken included lemurs, macaws, pythons and llamas, according to the warrant filed Friday in county court.

As of Wednesday last week, tape was wrapped around the property.

To collect the animals, many crates and animal carriers were brought into the zoo.

According to the warrant, the zoo raid was based on first-hand observations and investigations where investigators “believed that there was a direct and imminent threat to the health and safety of the animals” at the zoo.

Troubling allegations of animal cruelty are detailed in the warrant.

A confidential informant who worked at the zoo claims that the elephant keeper told them that to gain respect from the animals they had to use a bullhook (pole with a metal hook and point).

The keeper made statements such as ‘always prick’ the animals where ‘the bone is close to the meat’.

The order also details several phrases used by the guard, including: “make it count,” “the only reason you hit an elephant is for intimidation” and “you gain respect through fear.”

In the case of the elephant, the informant described the animal, named Asha, living in substandard conditions, sleeping in her own urine and receiving cold baths because keepers did not want to “groom them too much.”

The elephant was chained to a wall and chained, meaning she couldn’t get out of her own dung and urine.

The affidavits stated that Asha, “who has lived as a lonely elephant for decades, has very little enrichment. Asha rocks and rocks back and forth to soothe herself and relieve boredom and stress.”

On June 3, the confidential informant said, Easley said Asha was carrying 166 zoo guests on her back, according to affidavits. The next day she wore 191.

A sign at the zoo’s elephant ride area sets the maximum weight of the ride at 250 pounds. But the counselor ‘regularly’ saw two adults and a child riding Asha at the same time.

The order looked at every single aspect of the zoo, including records of donations (of animals) made or received, records of animal care, veterinary records, animal feed records, veterinary inspection certificates, transportation records, sales receipts, daily visitor logs , communications or documents relating to the care and handling of animals and all digital storage devices, including cameras, computers, external hard drives and mobile phones.

The order included a list of animals with many listed as dead. This included everything from lemurs to birds, pythons, turtles, a donkey and an alligator, according to WDBJ.

Body parts were also noted, including the head, tails and legs of a giraffe, and the legs of a zebra.

Attorney General Jason Miyares’ office is conducting the investigation with assistance from the Virginia State Police.

The Attorney General’s ‘Animal Law Unit’ provides support and prosecution of animal cruelty cases at the request of a local Commonwealth’s Attorney or law enforcement agency,” said Miyares spokesperson Victoria LaCivita.

“As this is an ongoing criminal investigation, we cannot comment further.”

LaCivita confirmed that one of the dead animals taken was a 12-year-old Siberian white tiger named Zeus, who had to be euthanized with the owners’ permission to humanely end his suffering.

The zoo owner’s daughter, Gretchen Mogensen, seemed blindsided by what allegedly happened and was in tears as she spoke to WSLS10.

“They had a search warrant from a confidential informant employed here who allegedly saw what he believed was cruelty, abuse and neglect by all the caregivers and by everyone,” Mogensen explained.

‘All the keepers stayed because they all wanted to provide care to the animals, which speaks volumes for what they do, but unfortunately they will be portrayed as monsters by the state for simply trying to do their job, while the animal protection officers do. will be portrayed as beautiful.”

Mario Williams, a lawyer for the zoo’s owner, questioned the investigation, adding that the zoo would seek to halt any permanent seizure of the animals, which he said would be unconstitutional.

“We’re going to fight the criminal charges one by one, show us where the neglect was, you’ve got to show us all these things. You know, you just can’t go around saying things. And basically without any evidence,” Williams said.

Four giraffes, three females and one male, “have not been seized, but a seizure hearing will take place to determine whether the animals have been cruelly treated or neglected” at a Dec. 20 hearing.

In 2019, the USDA Natural Bridge Zoo issued more than 150 citations for animal handling, sanitation and housing facilities.

A phone call to Natural Zoo Bridge went unanswered Sunday and there was no immediate response to an email seeking comment. The zoo was already closed for the winter.

It has been almost three decades since Diana sat down to give a television interview often discussed as a broadcasting landmark – and a moment in royal history.

Princess Diana’s sit-down Panorama interview with Martin Bashir aired on this day in November 1995. Some 20million people tuned in to watch.

Yet today the broadcast is seen as a landmark of a very different sort – as a shameful of deceit which besmirched the reputation of the BBC and caused great damage to Diana and those close to her.

The interview took place on a Sunday in 1995 at Kensington Palace, after the staff had left for the evening. The reporters and their camera gear entered Diana’s sitting room under the pretence to the staff that they were there to install a new hi-fi system.

Diana had agreed to speak with Bashir to set the record straight following speculation about her marriage to Prince Charles, which by that point had broken down. And the result was explosive.

It was during this interview that the princess said ‘there were three of us in the marriage, so it was a bit crowded’ – a reference to Charles’s affair with his now wife, Queen Camilla.

She spoke of her early expectations of life with Prince Charles and how she had ‘desperately wanted it to work’ in light of her own parents’ divorce.

Diana also opened up about the health issues she’d silently faced, which included bulimia, post-partum depression, and self-harm, leading to her being labelled by others as unstable and mentally unbalanced.

‘It was a symptom of what was going on in my marriage,’ Diana revealed on Panorama. ‘I was crying out for help, but giving the wrong signals.’

As well as admitting to her own extramarital affairs, Diana also suggested that Charles might not be cut out for the throne.

‘I would think that the top job, as I call it, would bring enormous limitations to him, and I don’t know whether he could adapt to that,’ she said of her ex-husband.

As for whether Diana saw herself as one day being Queen, she said: ‘No, I don’t, no.

‘I’d like to be a queen of people’s hearts, in people’s hearts, but I don’t see myself being Queen of this country. I don’t think many people will want me to be Queen,’ the then-35-year-old added.

‘Because I do things differently because I don’t go by a rule book, because I lead from the heart, not the head, and albeit that’s got me into trouble in my work, I understand that. But someone’s got to go out there and love people and show it.’

Diana felt that the royal household saw her as a ‘threat of some kind’ but that ‘every strong woman in history has had to walk down a similar path’.

The 54-minute interview was the final nail in the Wales’ marriage, and less than a month later, divorce papers were filed upon the Queen’s advice.

Her revelations came after Jonathan Dimbleby’s interview where Charles admitted his adultery and she didn’t shy away from hard-hitting questions about her time as a royal.

Its controversial nature ensured that a very small team in the BBC knew of it, and the decision was taken not to tell BBC Chairman Marmaduke Hussey what was afoot, as his wife, Lady Susan Hussey, was close to the Queen.

According to Diana’s close friend Debbie Frank, the princess admitted her regret about speaking to Bashir in a frantic call  24 hours before the interview aired.

She made the call despite realising it was too late to stop the interview being aired, said Debbie, who added that the princess only calmed down when she saw polls that showed the public had reacted well to it.

Debbie told the Sunday People: ‘She called me the day before it aired and said, “I’ve done this big thing and I hope it’s the right thing and doesn’t create too many waves. I needed to tell my story – it’s time people heard the truth”.

‘She sounded quite breathy and in a highly charged state. She was worried the public might turn against her and that she had said the wrong thing.’

But while the Panorama interview allowed Diana public support as she stepped into the world as an independent woman, it shook with the tragedies necessitating its existence.

Twenty-five years after Diana’s interview first aired, it emerged that Martin Bashir had secured his interview with the princess by falsifying documents.

In 2021 the official The Dyson report, found that ‘Bashir seriously breached BBC rules by mocking up fake bank statements to gain access to the princess,’ via the BBC.

Understandably aghast, Diana’s brother Earl Spencer was said to believed his vulnerable sister had been trapped in a web of lies by Bashir who had established ‘coercive control’ over her.

In his inquiry, Lord Dyson found that Bashir deceived Earl Spencer into introducing the journalist to his sister by showing him forged bank statements that falsely suggested individuals were being paid to keep the Princess under surveillance.

Royal biographer Andrew Morton also said Bashir told Diana the security forces were planning to kill her. He said Bashir warned her: ‘They’re going to wipe you.’

It was also alleged that Diana was shown a ‘faked abortion “receipt”‘ which suggested Charles had been romantically involved with one of the royal nannies.

Bashir admitted at the time to having the documents forged but denied ever showing them to anybody.

The report slammed BBC bosses, including former director-general Tony Hall, for covering up information on how Bashir was able to secure the interview.

In 2021, the Prince of Wales hit out at Bashir’s shocking tactics to obtain his exclusive with his late mother.

The inquiry plunged the Corporation into one of the worst crises in its history, with Diana’s two sons William and Harry accusing it of ruining their mother’s life with its ‘deceitful’ interview and helping to bring about the tragic chain of events that led to her death two years later.

In a televised statement, William railed: ‘This Panorama programme holds no legitimacy and should never be aired again. It effectively established a false narrative which, for over a quarter of a century, has been commercialised by the BBC and others.’

Prince William demanded a boycott of the 1995 interview following Lord Dyson's report, blasting Bashir's 'false claims' to fuel the 'paranoia and isolation' of his mother's final years

‘Our mother was an incredible woman who dedicated her life to service. She was resilient, brave, and unquestionably honest,’ Prince Harry added. ‘The ripple effect of a culture of exploitation and unethical practices ultimately took her life.’

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were also criticised for using elements of the interview in their explosive Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, which aired last November.

Midway through the first episode of the series, clips are shown of Princess Diana speaking to the journalist.

Sources close to Prince of Wales at the time said he would have been ‘furious’ that his brother appeared to ignore his plea that the Panorama interview never be aired again.

‘Sadly once more it shows the gulf between the two brothers couldn’t be wider,’ one told the Mirror.

Before the clip is shown, Harry, speaking about his mother’s struggles with press intrusion, says: ‘I think she had a lived experience of how she was struggling living that life. She felt compelled to talk about it.

‘Especially in that Panorama interview. I think we all now know that she was deceived into giving the interview. But at the same time she spoke the truth of her experience.’

Both brothers received ‘unconditional apology’ letters from the BBC over Bashir’s conduct and the 25-year cover up.

How the BBC was finally forced to admit Bashir’s deceit

AUGUST 31, 1995: BBC Panorama journalist Martin Bashir meets Earl Spencer and shows him fake bank statements that freelance designer Matt Wiessler mocked up for him.

SEP 19, 1995: The Earl introduces Bashir to Princess Diana.

NOV 5, 1995: The sensational Panorama interview with Diana is broadcast.

LATE NOVEMBER 1995: Wiessler expresses concern to Panorama’s series producer that the fake bank statements may have played a role in obtaining the interview. Bashir is asked for clarification.

DEC 22, 1995: Bashir passes a note from Diana to his bosses in which she says: ‘I was not shown any documents nor given any information by Martin Bashir that I was not already aware of.’

MAR 23, 1996: Bashir admits to BBC bosses that he had lied about not showing the fake bank statements to anybody. Yet two months later, he is sent a note – signed off by Tony Hall, then head of BBC News – that his dealings with Diana were ‘absolutely straight and fair’.

APR 7, 1996: The Mail on Sunday publishes a story about the fake statements. The BBC denies they were used to obtain the interview, but Hall opens an inquiry.

APR 25, 1996: Hall tells BBC governors that Bashir commissioned fake statements because ‘he wasn’t thinking’, adding: ‘I believe he is, even with this lapse, an honest and honourable man.’ Bashir leaves the BBC, but returns in 2016 as religious affairs editor.

AUG 28, 1996: Diana’s divorce from Prince Charles is finalised.

AUG 31, 1997: Diana dies in a car crash in Paris.

NOV 3, 2020: The Daily Mail publishes a letter written by Earl Spencer in which he accuses the BBC of ‘sheer dishonesty’.

NOV 18, 2020: The BBC asks former Supreme Court Justice Lord Dyson to independently investigate the scandal.

MAY 20, 2021: Lord Dyson’s report condemns Bashir as ‘dishonest’ and criticises Hall’s investigation as ‘flawed’. Prince William condemns the BBC’s ‘incompetence’.

JUL 21, 2022: The BBC pays about £200,000 to royal nanny Tiggy Legge-Bourke and admits she was subjected to ‘baseless’ smears by Bashir.

A New York City horse-drawn carriage driver was charged Wednesday with animal cruelty in a case stemming from the collapse of a weak horse on a busy Hell’s Kitchen street in August 2022.

The driver, Ian McKeever, was accused of overdriving, torturing and injuring animals and failing to properly maintain the horse, Ryder, according to a criminal complaint.

“Ryder should not have been working on this hot summer day,” Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg said in a statement. “Despite his condition, he was out of the boat for hours and worked until he collapsed.”

Mr. McKeever, a 55-year-old Long Island resident, appears to be the first New York carriage driver to be charged with animal cruelty since 2013. He pleaded not guilty during an arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court and faces up to a year in prison. prison if convicted. His attorney did not respond to a request for comment.

The horse-drawn carriage trade in New York – a remnant of old-world charm for some and a form of animal cruelty for others – is politically controversial, and the episode involving Ryder quickly became a flashpoint in the ongoing debate over whether horses should do work.

As detailed in the complaint and seen in bystander videos shared widely online, Ryder collapsed on Ninth Avenue near West 45th Street on August 10, 2022, around 5 p.m., while returning to his stable on West 28th Street.

It was 84 degrees Fahrenheit at the time, the complaint said.

Video footage showed Mr McKeever shouting at the still-rigged horse as he tried to get him back on his feet by hitting his hindquarters and pulling on his reins. Mr. McKeever also used a whip on Ryder, the complaint said, citing a witness.

Other footage showed police officers hosing down Ryder trying to cool him down as a crowd of concerned onlookers gathered and rush hour traffic continued to follow behind him.

After about 45 minutes, the complaint said, officers were able to get Ryder to his feet, into a horse trailer and back to the stable.

Mr. McKeever told an officer at the scene that Ryder was a 13-year-old standard carriage horse and had been working in Central Park since 9:30 that morning.

But a forensic veterinarian later estimated that Ryder was 26, not 13, and “should not have been working due to his advanced age and unhealthy, underweight condition,” according to the complaint.

The vet also said tests showed Ryder, who was euthanized after being moved to an upstate farm in the aftermath of the collapse, had a form of cancer.

Following the episode, the city’s health department fined Mr. McKeever’s brother, Colm McKeever, who owned Ryder, $2,000 for providing false information about the horse’s age on licensing documents.

Edita Birnkrant, executive director of NYCLASS, an animal advocacy group that has pushed for the end of the horse-drawn carriage trade, praised Mr. Bragg for pursuing the cause.

“We commend the Manhattan District Attorney for filing charges against Ian McKeever for his criminal abuse of Ryder,” Ms. Birnkrant said in a statement.

“But,” she continued, “these accusations are not enough to end the suffering of so many other horses.”

Christina Hansen, a carriage driver and industry spokeswoman, said she was “surprised” that the episode involving Ryder had led to a criminal case, especially after so much time had passed.

Ms Hansen declined to comment on the charges against Mr McKeever, but she acknowledged Ryder should not have been working at the time he collapsed, based on the forensic vet’s assessment of the horse’s age and poor health.

Still, she added, what happened in Ryder’s case did not reflect the typical circumstances of the roughly 200 horses that work in Central Park, which offer rides at a price of $63.70 for the first 20 minutes and $ 25.48 for every additional 10 minutes.

“It’s the exception that proves the rule,” she says.

Heartbreaking before and after photos show how Emma the Maltese Shih-tzu was neglected ‘in the most cruel way’ for SIX MONTHS when her former owner was convicted of animal cruelty

  • RSPCA found Maltese Shih-tzu in ‘poor condition’
  • Emma is now in foster care after being seized by her owner
  • Perth woman found guilty of animal neglect charges
  • A $3,500 fine and a ban on keeping pets for five years

A dog owner has been fined $3,500 and banned from keeping a pet for five years after allowing her Maltese Shih-tzu to suffer painful and severe tangles for at least six months.

Francine Janell Parfitt, 43, stood before Joondalup Magistrates Court on Friday where she was found guilty of animal neglect charges.

The court heard RSCPA inspectors from Western Australia first visited Parfitt’s home in Butler, northwest Perth, on January 25 after reports of animal abuse.

Inspectors found the 11-year-old Maltese Shih-tzu named Emma in a “bad condition” with dreaded hair with spikes scattered across his fur.

The court heard Parfitt failed to follow instructions to have Emma groomed, despite inspectors telling him the mats caused the dog pain.

RSPCA WA later returned to the house with a search warrant and seized Emma for suspected animal abuse.

A dog owner has been found guilty of animal cruelty charges after RSPCA WA inspectors found 11-year-old Maltese Shih-tzu, Emma (pictured), with painful tangles

Veterinarians at RSPCA WA’s Animal Care Center discovered that Emma was suffering from dental disease, which led to 10 tooth extractions.

They also found a grass seed embedded in her ear on top of her sore mats.

Today, Emma is a much healthier and happier pooch as she continues to recover in foster care.

The RSPCA shared Emma’s story in a plea for dog owners.

A matted fur can quickly become a welfare problem. It pulls on your dog’s skin, restricts their movement and can lead to terrible eye, ear and skin infections,” said RSPCA WA Inspector Manager Kylie Green.

“Regular grooming is a cost and time commitment that owners should consider before adopting breeds such as poodles and Maltese crosses.”

“If you find yourself in a situation where you can no longer care for your pet, contact friends, family or a rescue group as soon as possible.

“It’s never OK to ignore your pet’s pain or discomfort.”

Parfitt was convicted under sections 19(1) and 19(3)(h) of the Animal Welfare Act 2002.

The court ruled that Emma had suffered damage that could have been avoided if reasonable measures had been taken.

Magistrate De Maio said during sentencing that Emma had been “neglected in the most cruel way” during sentencing.

Parfitt was also ordered to pay $720.80 in court costs to RSPCA WA in addition to the $3,500 fine.
