Finally, the world can stop speculating and coming up with countless fantastic conspiracy theories or tasteless ‘jokes’ about what happened to Kate Middleton.

I’m sure there are plenty of people who were embarrassed when the news broke of her cancer diagnosis on Friday. But the one person I think of in all of this, the one person my heart goes out to in every way, is Prince William.

This poor man.

From his parents’ divorce when he was just ten years old, to their subsequent divorce, quickly followed by the untimely death of his adoring, adored mother, we have witnessed time and time again how life threw hardships at him.

In recent years he has dealt with increasing disagreements with his only sibling Harry and sister-in-law Meghan, his father’s cancer, and now this – an unexpected and tragic burden on top of everything else.

The distance from Harry is undoubtedly felt particularly keenly.

The only person I think about in all of this, the only person my heart goes out to in every way, is William. From his parents’ divorce when he was just ten years old, to their subsequent divorce, quickly followed by his mother’s untimely death, we have witnessed time and time again the hardships that life has thrown at him. (Photo: Harry and William with Diana).

In recent years he has faced increasing disagreements with his only sibling Harry and sister-in-law Meghan, most recently his father's cancer, and now this – an unexpected and tragic burden on top of everything else.

In recent years he has faced increasing disagreements with his only sibling Harry and sister-in-law Meghan, most recently his father’s cancer, and now this – an unexpected and tragic burden on top of everything else.

After all, he’s the only person who fully understands what this is like. The only person to have endured both divorce and the death of a parent, in such a devastating public setting, is irreconcilably estranged.

There were certainly too many stones thrown, too much pain and too many injuries for Harry to provide any comfort or strength to William.

William who now carries the weight of the crown as his 75-year-old father undergoes his own treatment for cancer; William must support his young family like never before.

As someone who has danced with cancer myself, I know how overwhelming it is for your partner. My husband was terrified when I was diagnosed with malignant melanoma in 2014, much more terrified, he later told me, than I seemed.

Our children were 14, 13 and the twins were 11. While everyone gathered around me, few thought to contact my husband.

He stepped in to care for the children, driving them back and forth, making sure their lives continued to progress normally, all the while worrying about what might happen to me.

When friends called him, they asked about me, and like William, he bore much of the burden alone, putting on a brave face, knowing he had to be strong for all of us.

We now know that the prince pulled out of his godfather King Constantine’s memorial service at 11am last month because he had just heard of Kate’s cancer. Two days later he was back at work and showed tremendous courage and devotion to duty.

We will hear endless speculation about Kate in the coming days, but few think about the partners and everything they have to go through when their loved one is struck by a serious illness.

William’s pain is even deeper right now considering his three young children: George, 10, Charlotte, 8, and Louis, just 5.

They are not much younger than William was when his mother died, and that trauma and grief, the specific fear of losing a mother, is undoubtedly something he will bend heaven and earth to protect them.

We don’t have a prognosis for Kate. She says that she is receiving preventive chemotherapy, that she feels ‘good’ and is ‘getting stronger every day’. We are all thinking of her and praying.

But illness is a great equalizer.

The distance from Harry is undoubtedly felt particularly keenly. After all, he's the only person who fully understands what this is like. The only person to have endured both divorce and the death of a parent, in such a devastating public setting, is irreconcilably estranged.

No matter how much help the Waleses have, how many nannies or nurses there are, William must now be a steadfast force for his children and wife.

And while Kate may need space to break down, to lie awake at night with fear dancing around her head, William will feel like he needs to be a rock, as all partners must do when their loved ones are so seriously affected are.

This is as much William’s struggle as it is Kate’s, but he, as stoic and kind in public as his mother always was, will now be under pressure to keep that mask on at home too.

No matter how scared he is, he can’t show it.

He has to keep smiling for the children and reassure them that mommy will be fine.

Children are remarkably observant: if he lets his fears surface, they will notice them, so he must keep it all deeply hidden while surrounding them with the safety, security, and love they need right now.

He is not only a husband, a father and a prince; his main role at this time is caregiver.

Whatever your life revolved around – family, work, charities, royal garden parties – everything stops when hospitals and doctors take over your daily life.

Considering everything William has been through in his life, we can only hope that he has trusted friends and loved ones to care for him as well.

They need to let him know that no matter how stoic he has to be for Kate and their children, he needs to know that he can crack, to let out that scared fifteen-year-old boy who just lost his mother.

Grandmother of drug smuggler Lindsay Sandiford could be spared a firing squad if she survives another year in prison after already serving 12 years.

New Indonesian legislation could reduce Sandiford’s sentence from the death penalty to prison.

The British 67-year-old grandmother has been in a cell at the Kerobokan prison in the Indonesian capital Bali since 2012 for an attempt to smuggle cocaine..

A prison source told the Mirror that prisoners had been informed of the new law and that authorities planned to follow it.

An Indonesian woman jailed for corruption said Sandiford was seen as the “queen” of the prison.

Examples of the drug mule’s special treatment include the ability to order a medium-rare steak once a week.

But she added that the grandmother had given knitting lessons to her fellow inmates.

Others said Sandiford scares people away with her “foul mouth” and “antagonistic” personality.

Sandiford was caught flying to Bali with £10.16 of the Class A drug worth £1.6 million.

Having no previous convictions, she claimed she was forced by a British-based drug syndicate to smuggle cocaine from Thailand to Bali due to threats on the life of one of her two sons in Britain.

Despite cooperating with authorities in an attempt to arrest those higher up in the syndicate, she was given a death sentence, with human rights lawyers and former British prosecutor Ken Macdonald saying she had been treated with ‘quite extraordinary severity’.

Kris Jenner put on a brave face to celebrate her daughter Kylie Jenner’s new venture on Thursday – three days after her sister Karen Houghton’s shock death.

It was announced that Karen – who famously had a rollercoaster relationship with Jenner – had died ‘unexpectedly’ died aged 65 this week.

Following the reports, Kris paid an emotional tribute to her ‘sensitive’ sister and said her ‘heart was broken’ for their mother MJ and Karen’s daughter Natalie.

Days after the tragic event, Kris, 68, arrived to Catch Steak alongside her boyfriend Corey Gamble, 43, and was also joined by her daughter Khloe and Sofia Vergara.

The mother of six wore a 70s-inspired white suit with black dagger lapels on the jacket and a ruffled black blouse underneath.

She completed her look with pointy heels, a tiny black purse and a large statement ring on her right hand.

The late-night soiree celebrated the release of Kylie’s 100-calorie canned vodka soda brand Sprinter — which is her first business venture in the spirits realm.

Kylie, 26, was also supported by her older half-sister Khloe Kardashian, 39, and her BFF Anastasia ‘Stassie’ Karanikolaou, 26.

It proved to be a star-studded affair as Modern Family actress Sofia Vergara and Muse frontman Matt Bellamy were spotted at the event.

Kris’ sister Karen was reported deceased to San Diego County officials on Monday in San Marcos, California, TMZ reported.

The exact circumstances of her passing are currently unclear, with county officials attributing her death to natural causes for now.

Karen and Kris grew up in San Diego and were raised predominately by their mother MJ after her divorce from their father Robert Houghton.

Kris shared a selection of photos with her sister on Tuesday and wrote: ‘It is with the heaviest heart and deepest sadness that I share that my sister Karen passed away yesterday unexpectedly.

‘My heart aches for my mom MJ and my niece Natalie and I pray that God guides us all through this difficult time. Karen was beautiful inside and out. She was the sweetest, kindest, the most sensitive and vulnerable and so so funny.

‘She always felt grateful and thankful for her life and treasured her family and friends and especially her beautiful daughter. She holds such a huge part of my heart and I cherish every single memory we have together.

‘Karen’s passing is a reminder that life is so short and precious and tomorrow is never promised. We must tell those we cherish how much we love them. I love you my beautiful sister.’

Karen is survived by her daughter Natalie, 26, who she welcomed with ex-husband Mark Zettel, mother MJ , Kris and nieces Kourtney, Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, and nephew Rob Kardashian.

On Wednesday Natalie shared an emotional tribute to her mother via Instagram.

In it, the 26-year-old, who is first cousins with the Kardashian and Jenner kids, including Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, and Kendall Jenner, admitted that she ‘doesn’t know how to go on’ without her mom.

‘Dear Mommy, I can’t believe [you’re] gone,’ she began in the harrowing post. ‘This doesn’t even feel real.

‘It all happened so quick and I wasn’t ready for you to go. An angel was sent to heaven on March 18th, 2024. I love you mommy and you will forever be missed.’

Natalie, who works as a caregiver and is also a budding model, described her mother as her ‘best friend’ and ‘the most kind, sweet, loving, giving, and caring soul’ she knew.

‘I keep hoping that I will get to hug you or kiss you or hear your voice one last time,’ she continued.

‘You were my best friend, my everything, the best mother a daughter could ever ask for.

‘I’m so grateful to have had a mother like you. You were the most kind, sweet, loving, giving, and caring soul. You had the biggest heart.’

Kris and Karen had long endured a rollercoaster relationship, oscillating between taking public barbs at one another, to Kris lavishing her little sister with pricey gifts.

In 2019 the pair were revealed to have reunited in an Instagram Story posted by Karen’s daughter Natalie.

Jenner shared snaps with her beloved sister and wrote: 'It is with the heaviest heart and deepest sadness that I share that my sister Karen passed away yesterday unexpectedly'

The feuding sisters posed smiling with Natalie, her famous cousin Kylie Jenner, and their mother Mary Jo Campbell.

Part-time nurse Karen had become known as the black sheep of the family after she candidly opened up outside Kim Kardashian’s baby shower in 2013 and even did a jig for waiting reporters.

Despite signing an NDA for the event, Karen waxed lyrical about eating ‘marshmallow on a stick’, the rose cake at the event and the goody bag, saying Kim and Kanye West ‘gave out Rolexes’.

Karen had frequently been outspoken when her sister Kris has riled her.

In 2013 Karen claimed that Kris had spent an eye-watering $1million on plastic surgery, which stemmed from being self-conscious about her weight when she was younger.

‘She was heavy as a kid and became worried about her looks at age 15,’ Karen told In Touch magazine.

She added: ‘The whole world knows it – Kris is vain.’

The reality star has been famously open about the two breast augmentations and the facelift she has had.

In 2014, Karen told Radar that despite Kris and her estranged husband Bruce looking friendly there would be no reunion.

Karen said: ‘Bruce left. He walked out on her, and I think he’s not coming back. He couldn’t take the yelling anymore and stuff.’

And she said Kris was not taking the split well, adding: ‘I think she’s got issues right now because Bruce left her. ‘Kris is alone, she’s not dating. She’s not the type to run around.’

She made the comments after writing on her Facebook page in April 2014: ‘Pray for Kris Jenner she needs it…crazy. Shes as nutcase [sic].

‘She doesn’t need prayers she needs sky vodka hahaha hahaha hahaha.’ And explaining her somewhat harsh views, Karen said ‘I get p***ed off at her because she doesn’t respond to me. If you think your sister would call you back, she doesn’t. And it hurts me.’

However the part-time nurse did poke fun at herself too, in a May 2014 Facebook post, writing, ‘Be someone s crazy aunt…its fabulous! !! K [sic]’

Karen – blamed her sibling’s celebrity status and hunger for fame and fortune.

She said: ‘I don’t care how much money you have or who you are, you’re my sister. I’m not afraid of her. I can’t get to her anymore. But I guess it’s the money.

‘She’s a huge celebrity and now she has changed. I’m not saying good or bad. But I’ve seen what it can do to Kris… ever since she moved to L.A.’

Admitting she has had run-ins with Kris – mainly to do with caring for their aging mother, Karen told MailOnline: ‘I called up Kris yelling at her, because I was like, ‘You need to help your mom more and you know it.’ And I think that she kind of got the message.I was screaming – I don’t even care.

The attack followed a 2013 interview during which Kris told Radar: ‘Unfortunately, my sister has been dealing with demons for years.’

In 2014, the former air stewardess told Radar, ‘when you express a loving family and family values and a close family and my mom wants to live in La Jolla, buy her a condo, Kris! I don’t understand her. I never will. It’s just her personality.’

Outback Wrangler Matt Wright is accused of trying to hide part of his multi-million dollar fortune from the widow who is suing over the death of her husband, who was Wright’s TV sidekick.

Father-of-two Chris ‘Willow’ Wilson died in a helicopter crash at King River in the Northern Territory while on a crocodile egg collecting trip on February 28, 2022.

The devastating accident left pilot Sebastian Robinson paralyzed and Wright is facing criminal charges in connection with the tragedy.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) determined that the helicopter likely ran out of fuel and that Wilson died in a fatal fall when the harness he was hanging from under the aircraft came loose.

The ATSB report criticized the safety management system of helicopter company Helibrook, which is run by Wright, and the risk management of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA).

Mr Wilson’s widow, Danielle, is now suing Helibrook and CASA and a hearing was held at the Federal Court in Sydney on Friday to determine whether Wright should be added personally to the claim and his significant assets frozen.

Ms Wilson’s legal team argued that Wright’s interest in his Tiwi Island Retreat, a ‘glamping’ resort off the NT coast, had been transferred to a trust since the incident and that more of his assets were beyond the reach of any court order could be placed in Mrs. Wilson’s home. favor.

Tiwi Island Retreat, located on Bathurst Island northwest of Darwin, bills itself as an ‘unparalleled wilderness experience’ where interstate and international guests have the choice of staying in beachfront villas and luxury ‘glamping’ tents.

As well as a range of leisure facilities and tours, there is a restaurant and bar serving dishes ‘accented by Asian spices and bush tucker’ and featuring a fireplace and smoker where guests are encouraged to help prepare their own seafood.

Helibrook and Mr Wright’s lawyer, Darryn Kelly, argued that his client’s transfer of his interest in Tiwi Island Retreat was ‘business as usual’ and that extensive research of ASIC documents found no other example of similar transfers.

He argued that Ms Wilson’s team needed to establish that there was a deliberate and “sinister” attempt by Mr Wright to hide assets, which was not the case.

“Otherwise we would have this in every case, in fact” “I’m going to sue you, so you should now be required to show proof of your assets and convince me that you won’t do anything with them,” said Mr. Kelly said.

Judge Elizabeth Raper sided with Kelly and refused the order to freeze Wright’s assets, saying there was limited evidence that he had tried to “frustrate” any possible judgment.

“I am not satisfied that sufficient evidence has been presented to me as a result of this turn of events to issue this order,” she said.

She also noted that the transfer of the interest in Tiwi Island Retreat took place well before Mr Wright was aware of Ms Wilson’s civil case, which she filed late last year.

The issue of whether Mr Wright should be personally added as a party to the claim has been adjourned and will appear in court on April 10.

Mr Kelly told the court his client had no legal duty of care to Mr Wilson, because he was the helicopter’s owner or for any other reason.

“There was no relationship between the men that created a duty of care,” he said.

Mr Kelly likened the helicopter in question to owning a motor vehicle, which he said does not create a duty of care in relation to its use.

Ms Wilson is seeking costs, damages, interest, interest on costs and “any other order the court considers appropriate” for the psychological harm caused by the alleged conduct.

“(She) has suffered nervous shock and/or psychiatric damage and loss of maintenance and support from Mr. Wilson over the course of his life,” her court filing said.

The helicopter’s pilot, Sebastian Robinson, was seriously injured in the crash but survived.

An Australian Transport Safety Bureau investigation found that the helicopter’s engine stopped mid-flight due to a lack of fuel.

During the subsequent emergency landing, Mr Robinson released the helicopter’s hooks and lanyard before it crashed to the ground.

Wright and his aviation company Helibrook are facing a series of criminal and civil charges in the Northern Territory over the fatal crash.

His friend, respected NT pilot Michael Burbidge, was first on the scene of the crash before he was joined by Wright and former senior police officer Neil Mellon.

The three men were all later charged with perverting the course of justice and destroying evidence.

Burbidge later pleaded guilty to destroying Wilson’s mobile phone, while Wright will stand trial in the NT Supreme Court for breach of process.

A further six charges, including tampering with evidence and threatening Mr Robinson, have yet to be heard, but Wright denies all allegations of wrongdoing.

A 63-year-old real estate agent and veteran Qantas engineer has been charged over an alleged crash that killed a young lawyer in Sydney.

Mitch East, 28, was found by a passer-by with serious head and chest injuries on Fletcher Street in Tamarama, in the city’s east, just after 4am on Sunday.

The lawyer, a former Harvard Law School student, was reportedly dropped off by an Uber moments before he was allegedly beaten.

Following extensive police investigation, Zisi Kokotatsios – the director of First Impression Property Group – handed himself in at Granville police station just after 11am on Friday.

He was charged with four offences, including negligent driving causing death and driving while using a telephone.

About four hours after the alleged crash, Kokotatsios posted a photo on social media of himself and his partner at a shopping center.

Following his arrest on Friday, his former colleague Marcel Kellerman told Daily Mail Australia their professional relationship ended a year ago, and he couldn’t be happier.

“I ended working with him over a year ago,” Mr. Kellerman said.

“Not doing business with him anymore is the best thing that happened to me.”

His charges include negligent driving causing death, dangerous driving causing death, failure to stop and render assistance after a vehicle collision causing death, and driving with a cell phone.

Kokotatsios was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court on Saturday morning.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Kokotatsios has worked in various sectors, from hospitality to technology.

He worked as a Qantas engineer between 1989 and 2014, but appeared to be running his own business during that time.

In 2001, he owned a company that sold monitoring systems for transit goods, before switching to a mortgage broker until 2006.

After leaving Qantas, he became the owner of a coffee and tea distribution company, Gourmet Coffee King, before entering the travel industry in 2016 as an ‘innovator’ for Innovators Travel Network.

Kokotatsios then became marketing director for another company he appeared to own in 2017, before becoming senior director of a real estate company in 2021.

Following the alleged collision, police were searching for the driver of a white Subaru Outback, who was seen on CCTV in the area around the same time as the crash.

At the time, NSW Police Inspector Jason Hogan urged the driver to come forward.

“It is a cowardly act to drive away after colliding with another human being,” he told 7News.

“They really need to go to the local police station before we knock on their door.”

A couple have signed up to be frozen after death in the hope of being brought back to life together in the future – but say if one of them doesn’t make it they will ‘pull the plug’ on the other.

Allan and Barbara Pease, from Queensland, will be cryogenically frozen together at a newly built facility in the New South Wales town of Holbrook, which is operated by Southern Cryonics and is the first facility of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.

The couple, experts in body language, communication and relationships and married for 35 years, said they want their love story to continue even after death.

Speaking to 60 Minutes Australia, Allan said: ‘They have the technology to put us in, but they haven’t figured out how to get us out yet, and there’s always a risk. But the alternative is eternal blackness.

“When we come back, if they find a way to unfreeze us, if one of us doesn’t do the freezing properly, one of us will pull the plug. We both don’t want to do it alone, I don’t want to come back without her.

Allan and Barbara Pease, from Queensland, Australia, have signed up to be frozen and brought back to life in the future, but say if one is brought back without the other, they want scientists to ‘pull the plug on the other’ Pull’

Barbara added, “I don’t want to come back without him either. We don’t think about death, we just live in the moment and enjoy every second of it.’

Cryonics is an experimental field of research in which the bodies of the clinically dead are frozen at -196 degrees Celsius so that they can potentially be resuscitated if future medical advances permit.

When it is time for the couple, their bodies will be transferred from their home in Queensland to the cryonics facility in Holbrook, where their bodies will be frozen at sub-zero temperatures.

They will be placed in mental tanks where they will remain until science has evolved enough to extract them and bring them back to life, which could take as long as 100 years.

The couple admitted that they are not worried that the world will look very different when they return in the future.

Barbara said, “I think the world will definitely look different, but I’m excited about that. It would be great to come back and have our babies and grandkids here, but even if they choose not to [be cryogenically frozen]., there would still be descendants of ours around.’

People in the industry admit there is no guarantee of a future revival and that the procedure itself has long been met with skepticism from medical experts. But cryonics enthusiasts are willing to take the gamble for a chance at life after death.

The couple, experts in body language, communication and relationships and married for 35 years, said they want their love story to continue even after death.

Allan explained: ‘Cryonics is like, if you’re in a plane flying over the Alps and the captain comes along and says, ‘The engines are all gone, we’re going to crash in the next 15 minutes, but we do have experiential skills on board. Parachutes, they have never been used, but we think they will work”, would you like to take the parachute? Well, that’s what cryo-suspension is, it’s a parachute.’

So far, 50 Australians from all walks of life have paid $150,000 to secure a place at Southern Cryonics.

Southern Cryonics director Peter Tsolakides previously said this ABC news that it costs $50,000 for the process done immediately after death, which includes a chemical drip and staff waiting to act at the time of the expiration.

WHAT IS CRYONICS?

WHAT IS CRYONICS?

Freezing a body to -196°C (-321°F).

Antifreezes are injected into the corpse to prevent cells from being damaged.

The hope is that medical science will make enough progress to bring the patient back to life.

Two major organizations perform cryonics in the US: Alcor, in Arizona, and the Cryonics Institute, in Michigan.

Russian company KrioRus is one of four facilities outside the US offering the service, joining Alcor’s European laboratory in Portugal, Tomorrow Biostasis GmbH in Germany and Southern Cryonics in Australia.

HOW IS IT MEANT TO WORK?

The process cannot take place until the body has been declared legally dead.

Ideally, it starts within two minutes after the heart stops and no more than 15 minutes.

The body must be packed in ice and injected with chemicals to reduce blood clotting.

In the cryonics facility it is cooled to just above 0°C and the blood is replaced with a solution to preserve organs.

The body is injected with another solution to prevent the formation of ice crystals in organs and tissues, and then cooled to -130°C.

The final step is to place the body in a container that is left in a tank of liquid nitrogen at -196°C.

WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF SUCCESS?

Many experts say there isn’t one.

Organs such as the heart and kidneys have never been successfully frozen and thawed.

It is even less likely that an entire body, and brain, will be left without irreversible damage.

HOW MUCH IS IT?

Costs at the Cryonics Institute start at around £28,000 ($35,000) to ‘members’ for whole body cryopreservation.

Rival group Alcor charges £161,000 ($200,000), while KrioRus’ procedure will cost you £29,200 ($37,600).

HOW LONG BEFORE PEOPLE CAN BE BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE?

Cryonics organizations claim this can take decades or even centuries.

However, medical experts say that once cells become damaged and turn to ‘mush’ during freezing, they cannot be turned back into living tissue, any more than you can turn a scrambled egg back into a raw egg.

He said the remaining money will cover the company’s fees, and if anything remains, it will be returned to the deceased’s estate.

Another well-known freeze location in America is the Alcor Life Extension Foundation in Arizona.

From the outside it looks like any other warehouse. But inside lie the frozen dead bodies of hundreds of patients.

It’s on the pricier side: It costs people $200,000 to have their entire body stored in a high-tech freezer, but there is an option to put just the brain on ice for a discounted price of $80,000.

The number of patients at the Michigan center has grown dramatically from about 600 in 2006 to nearly 1,975 in 2023.

The longest-running patient, named Rhea Ettinger, has been there since 1977.

Her son, Robert Ettinger, a World War II veteran and founder of the Cryonics Institute, is also in the Arctic limbo, along with his first and second wives.

The idea of life being revived after being frozen for a while has largely been relegated to science fiction in scientific circles.

Dennis Kowalski, the president of the Cryonics Institute in the US, told us Discover Magazine There are three challenges that future technological developments must overcome.

Repairing the damage caused by frostbite, curing the ailment that killed the patient, and reversing the aging process will all be necessary so that the person has a healthy body to enjoy his second chance at life.

Shannon Tessier, a cryobiologist at Massachusetts General Hospital in the US, said the freezing process alone is a permanent death sentence.

“There is absolutely no current way, no proven scientific way, to actually freeze an entire human being to that temperature without completely destroying — and I mean destroying — the tissue,” Ms. Tessier said.

The Tulsa County district attorney said Thursday that no charges would be filed in the fight at an Oklahoma high school last month involving a nonbinary student, Nex Benedict, who died by suicide the next day.

The district attorney, Stephen A. Kunzweiler, announced his decision in a three-page letter that provided the most complete official account yet of the Feb. 7 fight at Owasso High School, the student’s death and the findings of a weeks-long police investigation.

“From all the evidence collected, this fight was an example of mutual combat,” Mr. Kunzweiler wrote. “I have no reasonable belief that the State of Oklahoma could meet its burden of proving beyond a reasonable doubt if charges were brought for prosecution.”

The fight, which took place in a girls’ bathroom, gained national attention after Nex’s death sparked outrage from gay and transgender rights groups. They linked the death to the physical altercation and to what family members said was bullying at school.

Earlier this month, the state medical examiner released the results of its investigation and found that Nex had died from the “combined toxicity” of diphenhydramine, an antihistamine often used for allergies, and fluoxetine, a drug often used to treat depression. The autopsy found no evidence of any internal injuries from the fight, Mr. Kunzweiler wrote. The medical examiner’s office listed the manner of death as suicide.

“A key part of the Owasso Police Department’s investigation was the discovery of several brief notes written by Benedict that appeared to be related to the suicide,” the district attorney wrote.

He added that the notes “do not make any reference to the previous argument or difficulty at school,” but that family members said Nex “had been bullied at school for various reasons.”

The investigation included police interviews with seven students and six school employees, Mr. Kunzweiler wrote. He said the parents of another “two children” did not grant an interview or were “in the process of consulting with a lawyer.”

The two groups of students involved in the fight, including Nex, did not appear to know each other before they were placed in a “suspension class” together, Mr. Kunzweiler wrote. But he said they “worked against each other in the days leading up to the fight.” According to the public prosecutor, no reports were made to the school.

The bathroom fight lasted less than a minute and began after “comments were made about how Benedict was laughing,” Mr. Kunzweiler wrote, and Nex responded by pouring water on two girls while they were in the bathroom.

In an interview with a police officer later that day from a hospital bed, Nex described the altercation: “They grabbed my hair. I grabbed them. I threw one of them into a paper towel dispenser and they pulled my legs out from under me and put me on the ground,” Nex said in a video of the interview released by police. “My friends tried to jump in and help, but I’m not sure, I blacked out.”

An attorney representing Nex’s family, Jacob Biby, said the family would have no comment on the prosecutor’s decision.

Mr. Kunzweiler said in his letter that fights were unfortunately common and not all led to criminal charges. He called Nex’s death a tragedy.

“The reasons why someone commits suicide do not provide answers for those left behind,” he wrote.

A GARDENER revealed the method they avoided, which always leaves plants a week away from death.

Instead, they lived by a “three strikes” rule that saved time and energy.

1

An expert gardener shared their tips and tricks for beginners

The Redditor u/jelliknacht shared their gardening tips and tricks with beginners.

For those who worried about failure, they explained that failure was inevitable yet valuable.

“Every failure is a lesson,” they said.

Their advice to use large self-watering pots was hoped to reduce rookie mistakes.

“When you see pictures in magazines and on the Internet of piles of leaves coming out of small pots, that’s what they are lies” they explained.

“Or at least rarities. Suppose the underground part of your plant is about the same size as the above-ground part.”

Jelliknight added that gardening is a numbers game and you always have to be careful if you want to bear fruit.

Rather than experience disappointment when store-bought seedlings die, they planted as many seeds as possible to increase the odds of success.

I’m Growing Strawberries and Peppers in My Garden With a Dollar Tree Purchase — People Say It’s ‘Genius’ and ‘Such a Cute Idea’

“Start with seeds. It’s the cheapest way to garden. And you will do so for many years to come,” they said.

“Those seedlings from garden centers have been pampered, shaded, hardened, fertilized, watered several times a day and watched with an expert eye; they are not at all prepared for the harsh realities of life in a noob’s garden.

“Four dollars for one seedling that will permanently die or two dollars for 100 seeds is not a difficult choice.”

One season the gardener planted more than 60 tomato seeds, but was rewarded with only two seedlings.
